The air conditioning in the Metropolitan Police Department's corridor was a bit too cool.

Lin Shen leaned against the wall, while Conan sat on the bench next to him. Neither of them spoke.

The door inside was closed, and I wonder how the three kids' statements went.

Conan was getting restless, his legs were constantly crossing, and he kept glancing up at the doorway.

Lin Shen seemed quite relaxed, with an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips, just playing with it.

He noticed Conan's restless appearance and casually said, "What's the rush? We've already rehearsed the lines, there won't be any mistakes."

"Furthermore, your Junior Detective Club has assisted the police in solving numerous cases, earning you a positive image with the police!"

"Besides, this time it was a drug dealer who died! The police won't waste their time on those three children."

Conan glanced at him but didn't reply.

Although he is right.

But Conan was conflicted the whole way, feeling that what he was doing really went against his principles!

Thinking about it carefully, it seems that he has lowered his principles time and time again since he met Lin Shen!

Not long after, the door opened.

Mitsuhiko, Genta, and Ayumi came out one after another, looking much more relaxed than when they went in, clearly not having been given much trouble.

Ayumi walked in front, and when she saw Conan and Lin Shen, she immediately jogged over with a relieved smile on her face.

Conan quickly stood up and asked in a low voice, "Are you alright?"

Genta scratched the back of his head and said, "It's okay, it's okay. Officer Takagi is really nice; he even comforted us."

Mitsuhiko nodded, "They didn't ask too many questions; they just wrote down whatever we said."

Conan was finally relieved after hearing this.

It seems the police really trust the Junior Detective League, after all, they've helped solve many cases and are already quite well-known in the Metropolitan Police Department!

At that moment, Sato Miwako walked out of the office in the distance.

She held a transcript in her hand, and after reading it, she handed it to her colleague next to her. Looking up, she saw Lin Shen in the corridor and paused, startled: "Brother? What are you doing here?"

When Lin Shen saw her come out, he took a few steps to greet her with a familiar smile on his face: "Sister Sato, I came with those three children."

"Something happened to them, and I was worried they'd be stressed, so I came along."

After listening, Sato Miwako glanced at the three children, then at Lin Shen, and said without much thought, "Well, you're quite dedicated to being a caregiver."

She paused for a moment, then said, "By the way, about that case, the one involving Director Tsugawa, how much do you know?"

Lin Shen continued, following her lead: "I only know he deals drugs, nothing else. What's wrong, Sato-nee?"

Sato Miwako hesitated for a moment, but then she remembered that the person in front of her was her sworn brother, who had helped her before.

She lowered her voice and said, "To tell you the truth, we checked Director Tsugawa's bank transfer records and found that he regularly sends money to an executive of a mud-collecting organization!"

She glanced around and lowered her voice, "That man's name is Shinichi Iwai. He's a leader in charge of smuggling channels for the Muddy Association."

Conan, who had overheard everything, immediately chased after them: "Then why didn't the police arrest him?"

Miwako Sato sighed: "The transfer records can only prove that they had money transactions, but they can't explain the specific nature of them."

"We haven't seized the drugs yet, and Director Tsugawa is already dead. Based on these vague and rambling accounts, we're not even qualified to request an arrest warrant."

Her tone carried a sense of helplessness that comes with years of experience in this line of work: "This case is basically stuck."

Conan frowned and didn't say anything more.

After listening, Lin Shen smiled and said, "Sister Sato, are you free tonight?"

Sato Miwako asked, somewhat surprised, "Tonight? For what?"

Lin Shen said casually, "I'd like to invite you to dinner so we can chat."

Sato Miwako was even more puzzled: "What are you talking about?"

Lin Shen glanced at the three children and said, "You mentioned Iwai of the Muddy Association earlier. I'd like to know more about him."

"Look, this matter involving Director Tsugawa has blown up so much. What if the Nizan Association hears about it and finds out that these three kids ruined their plans, and comes looking for revenge?"

"I always need to know the other party's background in advance so that I can make preparations."

Sato Miwako stared at Lin Shen for several seconds, unable to think of a rebuttal.

She felt that this guy was overreacting, but to be honest, it wouldn't be surprising if an organization like the Muddy Society did something.

If those people really do target these children, Lin Shen's actions wouldn't be entirely unnecessary.

She considered it for about ten seconds, then finally nodded: "Okay, seven o'clock tonight, you choose the place."

Lin Shen smiled and said, "I'll send you the address later."

Miwako Sato hummed in agreement, turned around and walked back to her office, her back view clean and efficient.

After Sato Miwako left, Conan looked up at him, his tone tinged with suspicion: "You invited her to dinner not just to find out about Iwai, right?"

Lin Shen glanced down at him, then smiled and asked, "What else could it be?"

Conan chuckled and said, "He's definitely not up to any good!"

Lin Shen smiled and patted his head: "Let's go, I'll take you back!"

--------

At 7 p.m., Lin Shen booked a small private room at a high-end barbecue restaurant in Beihua Town.

The charcoal fire was glowing red-hot, and the beef tongue on the grill was sizzling with oil, its aroma rising with the white smoke.

Sato Miwako sat opposite her, with a large table of meat laid out in front of her—short ribs, pork belly, diaphragm, tripe, all piled high.

She was busy all day, from the case in the morning to the statements in the afternoon, and didn't even have time to eat.

When he saw the barbecue, his eyes lit up. He picked up a piece of pork belly and put it on the grill, his movements as swift as if he were arresting a criminal.

Lin Shen couldn't help but laugh at the way she ate: "Sister Sato, eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you."

With her mouth full of meat, Sato Miwako mumbled, "You don't understand. I only ate two rice balls this morning, and I'm starving."

Conan shamelessly followed along, sitting next to Lin Shen and eating heartily.

After they had almost finished eating, Sato Miwako pulled a brown paper bag out of her bag and pushed it in front of Lin Shen: "Here, the information you wanted."

"Shinichi Iwai's address, places he frequents, and car he drives are all recorded in there."

Lin Shen put down his chopsticks, picked up the package, opened it, and pulled out several sheets of printed paper, several photos, and a simple resume.

He flipped through the pages and quickly found the address section. He casually muttered, "Minami Aoyama, Minato Ward, hmm, not far from here."

"It takes more than an hour to drive there and back, but I can still make it back to sleep."

Upon hearing this, Conan froze in mid-air with his water glass, turned around alertly, and stared at Lin Shen: "President Lin, what are you trying to do?"

Lin Shen put down the documents, leisurely picked up a piece of freshly grilled beef tongue, dipped it in sauce, put it in his mouth, chewed it a couple of times, and then answered, "What can I do?"

"Go and say hello to him, apologize, and see if you can settle things peacefully."

After hearing this, Conan chuckled coldly twice: "You think I'd believe that?"

Lin Shen smiled.

Of course you don't believe me, and I didn't expect you to believe me anyway!

Sato Miwako believed it.

She put down the barbecue tongs, her brow furrowing. "Hey bro, aren't you just going to your death?"

"Those guys from the Muddy Gang are all drug dealers, and they might even have guns! Even if you have some influence in the underworld, they might not listen to you!"

Lin Shen waved his hand, his tone relaxed: "Don't worry, Sister Sato. I have some influence in the underworld."

"If all else fails, Iwai won't dare to do anything to me."

Upon hearing this, Sato Miwako's expression became even more serious, and she even stopped eating her meat: "Let me tell you, those drug traffickers are inhuman; they turn on you faster than flipping through a book! You absolutely mustn't take the risk!"

Lin Shen found her earnestness amusing, but nodded in agreement, "Okay, okay, Sato-nee is right, then I won't go."

After he finished speaking, he picked up another piece of meat, seemingly having truly given up on the idea.

But Miwako Sato is, after all, a detective.

She stared into Lin Shen's eyes for several seconds, then suddenly said, "You never intended not to go, did you?"

Lin Shen paused, then laughed, "Sister Sato, are you having another professional meltdown? I'm really not going. Do I look like the kind of person who would risk their life?"

Sato Miwako wasn't fooled; her gaze was scrutinizing: "You look like it."

Conan nodded silently beside him, adding, "It's more than just similar, it is exactly like that!"

Lin Shen felt a little helpless being stared at by the two people, one big and one small. He touched his nose and was about to continue making small talk.

Sato Miwako had already put down her chopsticks, her tone firm and unwavering: "Fine, I'll go with you."

Lin Shen was taken aback: "Sister Sato, you're a police officer, isn't it inappropriate for you to get involved in this kind of thing?"

Miwako Sato replied directly, "I'm off work now, I'm not a police officer."

Seeing her serious expression, Lin Shen knew he couldn't stop her.

He thought for a moment and then nodded: "Alright, let's set off after we finish this meal."

Sato Miwako then picked up her chopsticks again, took a piece of grilled short rib, and took a big bite, as if to replenish her energy.

Conan knew that many people would die tonight!

But with these drug dealers... he would only say "Well done!"

Lin Shen continued to lay meat on the grill, already planning other things in his mind.

Taking a detective with you to find drug dealers isn't called silencing them; it's called police-community cooperation!
