Chapter 80 Moonshadow Island Sea-Sucking Incident

As Lin Shen left the Black Rock Mansion, the night wind blew in his face, carrying a faint smell of gunpowder and the salty smell of the sea.

He's in such a state that he definitely can't go straight back to the hotel.

His jacket was gone, his shirt was only half-finished, his pants were charred and torn in several places, and he was covered in blood, sweat and cigarette ash. If he were to walk back like this, the receptionist would probably be so frightened that she would call the police on the spot.

He went around to the back of the hotel beach, took off his tattered clothes and pants, and threw them on the sand in a ball.

Lin Shen waded into the sea.

The seawater was much cooler at night than during the day, reaching above his ankles, knees, and thighs. Finally, he gritted his teeth, squatted down, and completely immersed himself in the water.

The feeling of the icy seawater enveloping his entire body made him shiver, but it did wash away the blood and soot from his skin.

He squatted in chest-deep water, rubbing the cigarette ash off his face and the grime on his arms. He squeezed a few tiny wood chips and grains of sand from his hair, then tilted his head back and exhaled a long breath, feeling his whole body relax.

He stood up from the sea and walked back to the shore, wearing only a pair of soaking wet black shorts. He stood shirtless on the beach and couldn't help but shiver when the sea breeze blew by.

Lin Shen pulled his phone out from the bundle of clothes and dialed Xiao Lan's number.

The call connected after two rings, and Xiaolan's slightly puzzled voice came from the other end: "Feed? President?"

Lin Shen spoke in the most natural tone he could muster, "Xiao Lan, are you free right now? Could you please go to the hotel front desk and get me a bathrobe? I'm on the beach behind the hotel... something happened, my clothes were stolen."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, then Xiaolan's voice rose slightly: "Your clothes were stolen?! Stolen on the beach?! President, are you alright?!"

Lin Shen's tone carried a hint of helpless laughter: "He's fine, but he's a little embarrassed to go back to the hotel lobby shirtless right now. Could you do me a favor? I'll treat you to a late-night snack later."

Xiaolan quickly replied, "Okay, okay, I'll go get it right away! President, wait for me!"

Then he hung up the phone.

Lin Shen threw the tattered clothes into the sea, found a relatively flat rock on the beach, sat down, and looked at the shimmering waves on the distant sea illuminated by the moonlight.

Just then, he suddenly noticed some unusual light appearing in the corner of his eye.

He turned his head to look towards the mountainside.

At the location of the Black Rock Mansion, an orange-red light was gradually illuminating the area, initially only the size of a window, but it quickly spread out.

Lin Shen sat quietly on the beach, watching the firelight in the distance without moving.

He knew that it was Asai Shigemasa who set the fire.

He respects the other party's choice.

Asai Narumi spent over a decade investigating the truth and plotting revenge, carrying that heavy burden of pain as she lived on Tsukikage Island for so long, spending every day in hatred and loneliness.

Lin Shen has always respected the fate of others.

He will never say a word as long as it doesn't affect his interests.

Avengers rarely end up with a good ending.

These types of people take revenge as their life's purpose and driving force.

Once the goal is achieved, the driving force disappears.

Avengers often choose suicide.

After waiting for about five or six minutes, Lin Shen heard footsteps on the sand behind him, along with a familiar girl's voice: "President? Is that you over there?"

He stood up from the rocks, turned around, and replied to Xiaolan, "I'm here."

Xiaolan, wearing a light blue light jacket and carrying a stack of neatly folded dark blue bathrobes, was walking briskly down the slope of the beach with unsteady steps.

When she walked up to Lin Shen, she saw him standing shirtless in the moonlight, his wet hair still dripping water. She quickly handed him a bathrobe, saying, "President, please put this on, or you'll catch a cold."

Lin Shen took the bathrobe, thanked him, and quickly put it on, fastening the belt. He was finally presentable.

After he finished dressing, Xiaolan asked curiously, "President, why are you swimming at the beach so late?"

While fastening his belt, Lin Shen casually made up a story: "I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd go for a walk to get some fresh air. When I got to the beach and saw the waves crashing in, I couldn't resist going for a swim."

Then he sighed, "When I finished swimming, I found my clothes were gone. I don't know if the wind blew them away or someone took them."

Xiaolan couldn't help but chuckle softly, then said with some worry, "But swimming on the beach at night is really dangerous. What if there's a strong current or I accidentally get a cramp, and no one sees me in the middle of the night?"

Lin Shen nodded in agreement: "You're right, I'll never do such a stupid thing again."

Just then, Xiaolan's gaze inadvertently drifted past Lin Shen's shoulder and landed on the distant hillside. Her expression changed from relaxed to surprised: "Huh? President... look over there!"

She pointed to the blazing fire on the mountainside, her voice rising a few decibels, "Isn't that a fire over there?! It's a huge fire!"

Lin Shen turned his head in the direction she was pointing, looking at the raging fire that had already turned half the sky red. He also feigned surprise, saying in a perfectly timed tone, "Huh? It really is. It's burning quite a bit."

Xiaolan immediately tensed up, her tone becoming urgent: "Oh no, this won't do! I have to go and inform the hotel right away!"

Without waiting for Lin Shen's response, she turned around and jogged towards the hotel, her steps uneven on the sand.

Lin Shen followed behind her at a leisurely pace.

When he arrived at the hotel lobby, Xiaolan had already explained the situation to the receptionist on night duty. The middle-aged man at the reception desk also looked nervous and nodded repeatedly, saying that he would call the fire department and the police immediately.

Xiaolan stood at the lobby entrance, still clutching her phone. Seeing Lin Shen enter, she immediately approached, her voice tinged with hesitation and worry: "President... I'd like to go over there and see what happened. Do you want to come with me?"

Her eyes were pleading, hoping the other person would come with her.

Lin Shen originally wanted to refuse.

He slaughtered dozens of people inside and outside the Kuroiwa residence, and Asai Narumi set it on fire. Now, there's nothing to see there except for the corpses and the burning building.

But then he thought, what if?

What if there are still some survivors hiding in some corner, not quite dead, and they come back to life and escape after you leave?

He felt it would be safer to go back and confirm.

He nodded: "Okay, I'll go with you."

So Lin Shen followed Xiao Lan along the town's streets toward the mountainside.
