The voluptuous and beautiful nanny, Technician Shen fell for her.
Chapter 72 Trying to dictate to others but ending up doing the work yourself
Grandma Shen patted the sofa next to her, looked at Su Nianhe, and asked with genuine doubt, "Girl, what urgent matter has happened in your hometown? Tell me, and Grandma will help you."
Su Nianhe lowered her eyelids slightly, her voice soft and gentle: "Grandma, it's really nothing serious. It's just that the country's policies are good now, and young people are benefiting from the reform and opening up. Staying at home all the time can make you narrow-minded. I was thinking that I should go out and explore more while I'm still young."
That's a clever way of putting it. It not only gave Wang Liping a way out, but also made the idea of setting up a stall and becoming an individual business seem legitimate.
Upon hearing this, Wang Liping, sitting opposite, brightened up and quickly seized the opportunity, slapping her thigh in agreement: "Right! Right, right! Nianhe has such high awareness! If you stay cooped up in your room all the time, your mind will become dull and your legs will become weak. Young people should go out and broaden their horizons!"
Old Shen had barely processed the words "the nanny left" when the buzzing in his ears hadn't subsided.
Wang Liping raised her voice to make her point, and every word of her phrase "dull-witted and crippled" reached the old man's ears.
The old man sat on the sofa, his already drooping eyebrows furrowing further, and banged his cane on the ground.
"Who are you calling clumsy?" the old man's voice boomed, full of energy. "Who are you calling useless? I, this old man, walk two kilometers every morning, and I'm perfectly healthy! You complained about my age when you first came in, and now you're calling me clumsy?"
Wang Liping's smile froze in mid-air, and she looked like she was about to shatter.
What did she do to deserve this? To run into such a capricious person who could switch channels at any moment, of all times, she had to come to the city now.
"Grandpa! I wasn't talking about you!" Wang Liping waved her hands frantically, stepping closer in her sandals and gesturing wildly in front of her. "I was talking about the young people! I was talking about the nanny! I really didn't mean to insult you!"
Su Nianhe stood by the aisle, watching Wang Liping's discomfiture without showing any emotion on her face. She moved nimbly, turning around to take a white porcelain teacup from the corner of the coffee table where the ducks were splashing, filled it halfway with warm water, and handed it to the old man.
"Grandpa, clear your throat. My sister-in-law is talking about the young people."
The old man took the teacup, held it in his hands, took a sip, and felt half relieved.
Wang Liping turned her head and saw that the tray was empty.
The old lady just took a big gulp, turning her cup upside down, and Shen Huai's cup was also empty.
Wang Liping, having just been mistreated by the old man, took her anger out on Su Nianhe: "Nianhe, are you just going to stand by and watch? Didn't you bring your eyesight from the countryside? Didn't you see that your grandma and Xiao Huai's cups are empty? Go pour them two more!"
The old man hadn't even finished swallowing the warm water when his hearing loss flared up again.
When Wang Liping raised her voice and shouted, "Go pour two cups," the old man only heard, "Go pour water."
The old man slammed the white porcelain mug in his hand heavily onto the turntable, causing two drops of tea to splash out.
"Who are you ordering to pour water?" The old man puffed out his beard, glared, and pointed to his own nose. "You came in and told me to leave, called me a blockhead, and now you want me, an old man, to serve you tea and water? When did our Shen family establish a new rule that the patriarch is now serving his granddaughter-in-law?"
There was a half-second of silence in the living room, and then Grandma Shen burst out laughing.
"Serves you right!" The old lady didn't give Wang Liping any face at all. "You've been yelling like a loudspeaker all day long, never uttering a single proper word."
Wang Liping's vision went black, and she slumped weakly against the back of the sofa, completely giving up the struggle.
Under the coffee table, the old hen flapped its wings and landed right on Shen Huai's leather shoes.
Shen Huai leaned back in his chair, one hand resting on his knee of his trousers, and watched the whole chaotic scene unfold.
His face was expressionless.
Su Nianhe carried the empty tray and walked towards the kitchen with her head down.
Shen Huai straightened the rolled-up sleeves of his shirt.
"Grandpa, my sister-in-law said she'll go pour it herself later." Shen Huai spoke clearly, his tone neither too loud nor too soft, yet the old man heard him perfectly.
The old man nodded: "Yes, my eldest granddaughter-in-law can pour the water, just don't make me do it."
Wang Liping sat there, too exhausted even to roll her eyes.
The old hen, which had been left under the coffee table, must have been getting impatient. It flapped its wings and clucked twice, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Grandma Shen sat on the sofa and pointed outside the yard.
"Shen Huai, go to the courtyard gate," the old lady instructed naturally. "I brought a sack of freshly picked peanuts from the village, right next to the stone lion. You big guy, go and carry them in. Don't leave them outside, or it'll rain soon."
Upon hearing this, Shen Huai slowly stood up.
He rolled up his sleeves twice, revealing a section of his muscular forearm, and walked out of the courtyard gate without saying a word.
The old lady turned her head and her gaze fell on Wang Liping, who was still slumped on the sofa, sulking.
"Go to the backyard and find a bamboo basket or a chicken coop," the old lady said, pointing her chin under the coffee table. "Put these two noisy animals in there. We can't let chickens and ducks poop all over the living room."
Wang Liping felt a wave of nausea as she looked at the two filthy poultry that reeked of a fishy smell.
She had no desire to do such dirty and smelly work.
She quickly calculated the costs in her mind.
Su Nianhe is in the kitchen right now. She just paid forty yuan to get rid of the maid, so it's only natural for her to ask her to move a chicken coop.
Wang Liping patted her skirt and stood up. Just as she was about to call for help, she was afraid of Old Man Shen. Wearing mid-heeled sandals, she turned around and prepared to go towards the kitchen to call for help.
She had only taken two steps when the old man Shen on the single sofa next to her slammed his cane heavily onto the floor.
"What are you wandering around for again!" The old man's voice was booming and resonant, echoing throughout the living room. "What are you doing in the kitchen? I just told you, I'm not going to serve you tea or water, so don't try to boss people around!"
Wang Liping paused, her whole body frozen in place.
She turned around, trying to explain loudly, "Grandpa, I didn't ask you to pour water. I'm going to get the chicken coop from the nanny!"
The old man's hearing was so poor that he only caught the words "nanny" and "chicken".
"The nanny's going back to the village, who's going to cook you chicken?" the old man said, puffing out his beard and glaring. "If you want chicken, go pluck the feathers yourself!"
Wang Liping was so angry she jumped up and down, her voice rising as she shouted, "I never said I wanted to eat chicken!"
"Alright, stop wailing!" Old Mrs. Shen, exasperated by the two's commotion, slapped her thigh and yelled at Wang Liping, "Is your arm broken or your leg snapped? I told you to get a cage, and you insisted on going to someone else. Go now!"
Wang Liping was completely at her wit's end.
She was afraid that if she replied to him again, the old man, who was hard of hearing, would shout something earth-shattering, so she had to give up the idea of going to the kitchen to find Su Nianhe.
She pinched her nose and walked towards the backyard with a look of disgust on her face.
