"What do you think?" Lin Yu said calmly.

Bell bit his lip and [temporarily changed] moved around to face Lin Yu.

The corridor lights weren't bright; they were a dim, warm white that shone evenly from the ceiling, casting long, faint shadows of the two people.

When Bell stopped in front of him, her toes almost touched the tips of his shoes.

She raised her head, her amber eyes staring straight at Lin Yu, a stubbornness in them that was hard to describe, as if she had made a decision, or as if she was just being defiant.

Lin Yu did not retreat.

He didn't even change his posture—his left hand was in his pocket, his right hand hung naturally at his sides, his shoulders and back were very straight, and his expression was that of a characteristic indifference that revealed no emotion.

His gaze fell on Belle's face, waiting patiently as if she had an infinite amount of time to hesitate.

Bell took a deep breath.

Her fingers clenched and unclenched at her sides. She could feel her heart pounding at an indecent pace, the clattering sounds rushing from her chest to her eardrums, making it almost impossible for her to hear the low hum of the air conditioner in the corridor.

"That's not what I meant," Bell finally spoke, her voice hoarser than she had expected. "What I just said... wasn't what you think."

Lin Yu tilted his head slightly, as if waiting for her to continue.

Bell felt she should say something to break the suffocating silence, but the words that came out were all jumbled up.

What exactly did she just say? It seems that when Lin Yu asked her, "What do you want?" she blurted out, "I want you to look at me."

She regretted it the moment she blurted out those words, but what's done is done. Lin Yu replied with an extremely indifferent tone, "What do you think?" as if he were handing all the choice and embarrassment back to her.

So she went around to face him.

Because at that moment she suddenly realized that she had never truly, earnestly, or face-to-face stood before Lin Yu. Before, there was always something between them—a crowd, a corridor, an inexplicable sense of distance, and her own timidity.

She always stood to his side, behind him, or at a distance, tracing his silhouette out of the corner of her eye, but never before had she so openly placed herself right in the center of his line of sight.

"Mr. Lin Yu," Bell called him again, this time her voice was a little steadyer. She raised her hand, as if she wanted to touch him, but paused in mid-air, and finally just grabbed the cuff of the hand that was hanging at his side.

The force was very light; she just pinched that small piece of fabric with her fingertips, as if afraid that if she used too much force, it would break.

Lin Yu glanced down at his sleeve, which was being held, then looked up at her again. His eyes were calm, but they did not reject her.

He just stared at Belle, his gaze earnest and unwavering, as if, at that moment, she truly was the only person left in his world.

"I don't want to guess anymore," Bell said, her voice trembling slightly, but her eyes didn't look away. "I've guessed too many times. I've guessed whether you'd pass by my place today, I've guessed what that look you gave me meant."
