Genshin Impact: Watch me turn the tables and kill my servants at the start!
Chapter 19 Box Half Price
Standing on the balcony of Fontaine Palace, Fulina watched the ship carrying the Executors of the Fools slowly sail away from the harbor until its sails became a tiny white dot on the horizon. Then she let out a long, long sigh of relief.
Then Funina turned and walked back into the palace, her steps light as if she had springs under her feet, humming an unknown tune, and directed her servants to lock all the documents related to the "Twelfth Seat of the Fools" in the bottom cabinet, putting the key into the deepest pocket of her clothes.
After doing all this, Funina leaned back in her chair and looked up at the ceiling, feeling as if the entire sky over Fontaine had become clear and transparent.
The sky over Fontainebleau has finally cleared up.
Meanwhile, the ship carrying three executives and a henchman was sailing steadily southward.
Fanes leaned on the railing of the ship, watching the scenery on both banks gradually change from the emerald green banks of Fontainebleau to the verdant mountains unique to Shenyu Valley. The moisture in the air gradually thinned out, replaced by the fragrance of tea trees and the scent of earth.
Rosalind stood beside him, holding a parasol, her long, golden curls swaying gently in the river breeze. She gazed at the distant, layered tea plantations and the quaint villages nestled in the valleys, a rare hint of relaxation in her voice: "This place is much prettier than Zhidong."
The soldier leaned against the shadows by the cabin door, his purple hat pulled low, giving off an expression that said, "I don't really want to get involved in your tourist behavior."
But Fanes noticed that his gaze was also drifting towards the shore, and although he wasn't smiling, his lips weren't downturned either, probably because he was slightly affected by the scenery.
After the boat docked, the three men and their follower walked along the stone-paved path into the small town of Chenyu Valley. Shops lining both sides of the road were filled with all kinds of tea, the air thick with the crisp aroma of tea, mingled with the mountain mist and the smell of freshly baked cakes. Fanes took a deep breath, feeling as if he had been revived from the freezing, icy air of midwinter.
"It feels great to be on a business trip at public expense."
Fanes looked up at the tea shops with signs hanging on both sides, his steps as light as a bird released from its cage. "We can travel around on this trip in addition to doing missions. What a bargain!"
Rosalyn chuckled as she walked beside him. "You're right. Take this opportunity to buy more things to take back. I heard that tea from Shenyu Valley is very expensive in winter; it's much cheaper to buy it here."
The stragglers followed behind and snorted, their voices neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for the people in front to hear: "Are you here on a business trip or to make purchases?"
"Purchasing is also part of business trips."
Fanes turned back and looked at him with a self-righteous air, "Brother Sanbing, don't you want to bring back some local specialties? Inazuma doesn't produce this kind of tea."
The soldier was taken aback by the address "Brother Squadron," his purple eyes narrowed as if he wanted to retort, but in the end he just pulled his hat down further and quickened his pace to walk in front of them.
Yakoda peeked out from behind Fanes, her eyes sparkling as she looked around, muttering, "Boss, boss, that shop over there is huge! They have so many tea cakes hanging outside!"
Fañez looked in the direction she pointed—it was indeed a fairly large tea shop, with an antique-style plaque hanging above the door and several large earthenware jars placed at the entrance, decorated with a few green tea branches inserted inside.
As the group entered, the shop assistant immediately came to greet them. The assistant was a young man, and seeing that the three customers, who were clearly not locals, walked in, he smiled and began to introduce the various teas in the shop—Chenyu Valley's specialty cloud and mist tea, old pine narcissus tea, and a tea called "Jade Dew Spring Buds" that is said to be picked only in a small tea garden on the mountaintop.
Fanes overheard this and his gaze fell on a wooden sign hanging next to the counter. The sign, written in large characters with a brush, read: "Ten boxes, half price."
Fanes' eyes lit up.
"Sister Rosalyn, look at that."
Fanes tugged at Rosalind's sleeve and pointed to the wooden sign, "Ten boxes, half price. If the three of us buy, three or four boxes each will be enough."
Rosalind followed his gaze, a hint of a smile appearing in her icy blue eyes: "That's a good idea."
Sanbing stood at the shop entrance, arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe, seemingly adopting a "I'm not involved" stance. But Fanes had already run over and tugged at the hem of his coat towards the counter: "Sanbing, why don't you buy a few boxes too! They'll be presentable gifts when we get back to Inazuma!"
The soldier looked down at the small hand tugging at his clothes and remained silent for two seconds. He wanted to shake it off, but when he saw Fanes looking up at him with a "please" expression, his lips twitched, and he was ultimately dragged to the counter.
Fanes tiptoed over the counter and began discussing with the shop assistant which varieties he wanted. Rosalyn stood beside him, occasionally offering suggestions, while Jakoda squatted in front of the tea canisters next to her, lifting the lids one by one to smell the aroma.
The skirmisher stood behind watching this scene, his expression hidden beneath his hat, but he did not leave.
The last three people, along with Yakoda, collected a total of twelve boxes of tea. The shopkeeper happily packed the tea boxes into a cardboard box and even gave them an extra small bag of loose Osmanthus Oolong tea.
When Fanes came out carrying his four boxes of tea, his face beamed with a smile as bright as a child who had just received a red envelope for the New Year. Rosalyn followed behind, carrying the remaining boxes, her steps still elegant and composed. The soldier also carried three boxes, though his expression remained indifferent, as if to say, "I just grabbed them."
After leaving the tea shop, the group strolled around the small town of Chenyu Valley. Fanes bought a string of candied hawthorns, Yakoda bought a bamboo-woven rabbit, Rosalyn picked out two hand-embroidered silk scarves, and even Sanbing stopped twice in front of a bamboo ware stall, finally buying an exquisitely crafted tea scoop, which he tucked into his sleeve with an expression as natural as if nothing had happened.
In the evening, the four of them sat down to rest in a riverside teahouse at the entrance of town. Outside the window, there was the emerald green river and the distant tea mountains, and the setting sun dyed the water a warm gold.
Several small plates of snacks and freshly brewed Chenyu Valley Cloud Mist Tea were placed on the table, their steam rising gently and mingling with the aroma of tea in the twilight.
Fanes sipped his tea slowly, his feet swinging back and forth under the chair. He glanced at Rosalind sitting opposite him, then at the stragglers quietly drinking their tea, and finally looked down at Jakoda, who was engrossed in eating peanut brittle at his feet.
"Shall we go to Liyue tomorrow?" Fanes put down his teacup.
Rosalind nodded: "I'll separate from you here in Jade Valley and head towards Mondstadt. The skirmishers should also turn around here to Inazuma."
The soldier held his teacup without speaking, but nodded slightly in acquiescence.
Fanes hummed in agreement, leaning back in his chair and watching the sky gradually darken outside the window. Night falls earlier in Chenyu Valley than in Fengdan. After the last glimmer of golden light on the river sank, lanterns on both banks lit up one after another, casting warm, shimmering reflections on the water.
Fanes touched the four boxes of tea in his pocket, pondering whether he should bring one box as a gift for Morax after arriving in Liyue. Although Morax had lived for over six thousand years and had tasted all kinds of fine tea, it never hurts to be a good gift.
If the Geo Archon is in a good mood and doesn't hold the Fatui's outpost in Liyue against him, then his mission will be much easier.
After finishing her peanut brittle, Yakoda came over and tugged at his sleeve: "Boss, are we really going to Liyue Harbor tomorrow? Are there lots of immortals there?"
Fanes thought for a moment, then replied seriously, "There are quite a few. But don't worry, your boss is bad at everything else but has a tough life. Even the immortals shouldn't be able to do anything about me."
Yakoda nodded as if she understood, then buried her head in peeling another peanut.
