Clementine: You dare call me "Bold Pepe"?!

Fanes felt that he might be going to die here.

Kujavina's hand was like an iron clamp, no, even more ruthless than an iron clamp. At least an iron clamp is cold, but Kujavina's palm was burning hot. That temperature and the force gripping her neck created a bizarre contrast—like being strangled by a red-hot snake.

Fanes' vision began to blur, his mind flashing back to the unfinished bowl of braised beef noodles from his past life, every flop novel he had written in this life, and the terrified face of Vasher, whom he had threatened.

I'm 30 seconds away from death. I really want to go back and have another sip of Fengda soda!

Just a second before Fanes' consciousness was about to plunge into darkness, a white shadow suddenly appeared out of the corner of his eye.

Fast. Too fast.

Fanes didn't even see what happened. He only heard a sharp "clang," like the shriek of metal cutting through the air, followed by a sudden jolt from Kujavina's body—the hand gripping his neck loosened its grip by half an inch—and then a short, muffled thud.

puff.

Fanes's retina only caught a blurry image: Peruvieri's sword pierced Kujavina's waist, the tip emerging cleanly from the other side, as if slicing through tofu. But that wasn't all.

The moment the sword was drawn, Peruvieri's body twisted almost without pause, the blade drawing a silver arc, precisely slashing at the arm that Kujavina was gripping Fanes with.

Everything happened in less than a breath.

Fanes felt the pressure on his neck suddenly disappear. He plummeted downwards, landing on his buttocks first, and felt a dull pain in his tailbone.

He lay on the ground, clutching his neck and coughing violently, tears and snot streaming down his face, looking like a fish pulled from the water. When Fanes finally caught his breath and looked up, he saw Kujavina stagger back two steps, her left arm cleanly severed below the elbow, blood gushing from the cut, and her face contorted in a true grimace for the first time.

Peruvieri stood between her and Fanes, her short white hair ruffled by the wind from her earlier movements, and beads of blood trickling down the blade of her sword.

Fanes's mind went blank for a moment as he watched this scene unfold.

To be honest, he had imagined many ways to die. Being strangled by Kujavina, being killed by the traps in the Hearth House—but he had never considered a scenario where he would be saved by a white-haired girl with a single sword strike.

Moreover, he only saw the beginning and the end of the white-haired girl's actions from start to finish; the middle part seemed to have been fast-forwarded.

Kujavina clutched her severed arm, her icy blue eyes fixed on Peruvieri. Shock, pain, and a hint of incredulous anger mingled together.

Kujavina was indeed careless. The unexpected arrival of Fanes had distracted her; she was holding the child in her right hand, and her left arm was injured by the brat's bullet, making her movements more than 20% slower than usual. And more importantly—

Kujavina never expected that Peruvieri would attack her directly at this time, in this place, and right in front of her.

Anyone with a brain knows the dire consequences of publicly assassinating Kujavina, the fourth seat of the Fools' Order's Executors, at the House of Hearths. Death is certain, and the manner of death will be a hundred times more gruesome than her current injuries.

But Peruvéli did just that. Without hesitation, she pierced his body with one sword and severed his arm with the other, without the slightest hesitation between the two moves.

Clementine stood a few steps away, her short, pinkish-rose hair ruffled slightly by the gust of wind. She gazed at Peruvier's retreating figure, a complex emotion flickering in her pale emerald eyes. She opened her mouth, her voice trembling slightly:

"Pepe...you run away quickly, leave this to me."

Peruvelli didn't turn around. Her hand gripping the sword remained motionless, her voice as cold as if pulled from an ice cellar: "No need. I will kill this demon with my own hands."

Phanes lay on the ground, one hand covering his neck, the other reflexively raised to cover his eyes.

But Fanes wasn't covering it up very carefully, leaving a small gap between his fingers, just enough for him to see the expanding pool of blood not far away, the gruesome wound on Kujavina's severed arm, and Peruvieri's sword hanging in the air.

"Um... you can kill people, you can take revenge... but could you wait until I'm gone? I'm still a child, looking at this kind of thing will give me a sty!"

No one cares about him.

Peruvelli had already moved. A faint cracking sound came from the floor beneath her feet, and she shot towards Kudjavina like a white arrow released from a bow.

Kujavina reacted quickly—even with a severed arm, a pierced waist, and blood everywhere, she still managed to raise her right arm at the last moment to try and block.

But that didn't work.

Peruvelli's sword was too fast. So fast that all Fanes could see through his fingers was a silver-white afterimage flashing through the air, so fast that Kujavina's expression hadn't even had time to switch from "anger" to "terror".

The sword swept horizontally, sharp and decisive, without any unnecessary fancy movements, just one strike.

Then Kujavina's head left her shoulder.

In his entire life—and both his lives combined—Fanes had never witnessed such a decisive and efficient scene.

The head with long, dark purple-red curly hair flipped halfway through the air, its hair spreading out like spilled dark silk. A few seconds later, it landed on the floor with a thud, rolled twice, and stopped in front of the fireplace.

The firelight from the fireplace illuminated the face that still bore the incredulous expression, and the icy blue eyes remained open until the very last moment.

The severed arm lay in a pool of blood beside her body, its fingers slightly curled.

Immediately afterwards, a warm, viscous liquid was poured over Fanes' face.

The only thought that flashed through Fanes' mind at that moment was: How come Kugavina has so much blood?! Is she a wholesale ketchup seller?!

Red liquid streamed down his forehead, nose, and cheeks, blurring his vision, mouth, and even his ears. The metallic smell assaulted his senses, and the warm, sticky sensation sent shivers down his spine.

He shakily wiped his face with his hand, looked down at his blood-red hands, and then looked up at the headless corpse slowly falling backward.

Fanes' pupils contracted sharply.

Then his eyes rolled back, and he leaned straight back.

As the back of his head hit the floor, his last conscious thought was still a frantic rant: "I survived being choked, but now I'm scared to death by ketchup. I've really lost out in this life."

But what he didn't know was that at the moment he completely lost consciousness, Peruvieri was looking down at the pool of blood and the head on the ground, her white hair covering most of her face, making it impossible to see her expression.

Clementine quickly walked over, knelt down, and used her sleeve to wipe the blood from Fanes' face, muttering under her breath, "He's just a child... Pepe, you really didn't choose the right time to do that..."

Peruvieri remained silent for a long time before softly humming in agreement.
