When Fanes received the executive officer's standard coat, he was stunned for a full five seconds.

It's a fine coat. The fabric is thick, the lining is warm fleece, the collar is trimmed with dark fur, and the cuffs and hem are embroidered with the exquisite emblem of the Fools. It's warm and stylish to wear, and you can tell at a glance that it cost a fortune.

The problem was that the coat was clearly made for a boy. When Fanes put his arms into the sleeves, the cuffs reached below his knees, making it look like he was wearing a floor-length cloak.

His clothes trailed on the ground, covering his bare feet. From a distance, it looked like a small head peeking out from a pile of dark fabric.

I tried to take a couple of steps, and my left foot stepped on the hem of my clothes that was hanging down on the right side, and I almost fell flat on my face.

Clementine stood to the side, one hand covering her mouth, her light emerald green eyes brimming with barely suppressed laughter. Her shoulders trembled, her short pink hair shaking, clearly indicating she was struggling to hold it in.

Fanes finally regained his balance, looked up and glared at her: "Don't laugh!"

Clementine's lips twitched down slightly, but the smile in her eyes deepened.

"Don't laugh! Don't laugh!"

Fanes pointed a finger at her, striking the most serious pose a six-year-old could muster. "I'm your superior now! The twelfth seat! Higher rank than you! If you laugh again, I'll put you on overtime!"

Clementine finally couldn't hold back any longer and burst out laughing, bending over and stomping her feet with mirth. She laughed so hard she was breathless, her voice echoing down the corridor several times.

Fanes was so angry that his cheeks puffed up into a ball. He tried to roll up his sleeves, but they were too thick and would slip down as soon as he rolled them up. After trying three times, he could only angrily tuck his hands into his sleeves, looking like a sloth wearing a large burlap sack.

Arecino stood to the side, her short white hair falling to the side of her face, a hint of helplessness floating between her gloomy brows and eyes.

Looking at the two noisy guys in front of me—one laughing so hard he was practically falling over, the other so angry his face was three times rounder—the corner of my mouth twitched extremely slightly, the curve so small it was almost negligible, but it did curve by a tiny pixel.

Arecino turned around, her voice indifferent, "Let's go. It's time to see our other colleagues."

Phanes followed behind, dragging his oversized coat, lifting the hem every few steps, looking like a little penguin that had accidentally wandered into a noble banquet.

Clementine had intended to go with them, but halfway there she was stopped by a Fool soldier who whispered something to her.

Clementine's smile faded, and she turned to Fanes, waving her hand. "I'm not high enough rank, so I can only take you this far. You go with Pe... with Arecino first."

Before Fañes could even wave goodbye, he saw Arecino already striding far away. He quickly grabbed his coat and jogged after her, stumbling and falling twice along the way, but luckily his coat was thick enough that the falls didn't hurt.

They walked through the long corridor leading to the Winter Palace, the walls of which were inlaid with ice-blue crystal lamps that emitted a cold light. At the end of the corridor was a tall double door, where two guards stood. They bowed to Arecino and then pushed the door open, one on the left and one on the right.

Fanes took a deep breath and followed Arecino inside.

The room was spacious, with a long table in the center, covered with a dark red velvet cloth. Several people were already there.

Fañes's gaze swept across the room, and the first thing he saw was the clown, who stood at one end of the long table, holding a steaming dark drink in his hand, his expression behind the mask unclear.

Then there was a tall man standing by the window—burly and muscular, dressed entirely in dark clothing, with a mask covering his face, revealing only a face that Conan would find utterly repulsive.

Captain. Fanes recognized him. This was the most mysterious of the Fools' Enforcers, exuding an aura of "don't mess with me, but I can't be bothered with you."

Then Phanes saw the skirmishers.

The young-looking executive sat on one side of the long table, with short purple hair and a large hat perched diagonally on his head, the purple ribbons hanging down almost touching the table.

The skirmisher stood with one hand on his hip, his eyes casually sweeping over the two people who entered through the door. His gaze lingered on Arecino for a moment before settling on Fanes.

Fanes noticed the skirmisher's gaze and subconsciously looked down at his own overcoat, which was clearly several sizes too big. He then looked at the skirmisher's coat—well-tailored, with cuffs reaching just to the wrists and the hem just above the knees.

Exactly the same fabric, exactly the same style, exactly the same workmanship.

Fanes's mind raced. His coat... seemed to have been temporarily transferred from the skirmishers' inventory? The color of the embroidery thread on the cuffs was exactly the same as the skirmishers' coat, and the fur material of the collar was also the same.

It's impossible for Zhi Dong to have a children's version custom-made for him in a short time; they can only find the smallest one from the existing inventory to make do. And among the executives, the one whose size is closest to "small" is obviously the skirmisher.

Fanes's lips twitched. So he was wearing skirmisher's spare gear? And it was at least two sizes too big.

The skirmisher seemed to realize this as well. He raised an eyebrow, a subtle glint in his purple eyes. Knowing this man's temperament, Fanes had heard before he arrived—the skirmisher was known for his sharp tongue and love of mocking his colleagues, especially those executives below him.

If the skirmisher were to open his mouth now, Fanes felt he would be ridiculed from head to toe.

But the stragglers opened their mouths, then closed them again.

He looked Fanes up and down twice, then looked away, leaned back in his chair, and pretended to be as if he hadn't seen anything.

Fanes was a little confused. The skirmishers hadn't used taunt?

The soldier's inner thoughts were actually quite simple: the so-called "Twelfth Seat" standing in front of him was not even up to his waist, his face still had baby fat, his hair was messy like a bird's nest, and he was wrapped in an oversized coat, looking like a child who had stolen an adult's clothes.

If a skirmisher were to openly mock someone here, the scene would resemble an adult bullying a kindergarten child. If word got out, not only would it damage the executor's reputation, but even the ordinary soldiers of the Fools would gossip about him behind his back.

A dignified sixth seat holder going to mock a six-year-old last seat holder? No way, that's beneath him. That's unacceptable.

Lei Movie: What kind of style is that? I don't think I even have that kind of style! After all, I've never seen anything like it in my life.

So the stragglers chose silence. A quiet silence. A silence that pretended they were contemplating the philosophy of life.

Before Fanes could figure out what was happening, he felt a fragrant breeze waft towards him. A figure quickly walked up to him, knelt down, and then cupped his face in two fair hands.

It was a lady. When Fanes was confronted with her exquisite and aloof face, his entire back stiffened.

The woman usually gave the impression of being arrogant, aloof, and sharp-tongued, but at this moment she squatted down, cupped Fanes' face in her hands, and looked at him from left to right, her eyes seemingly brimming with pink bubbles.

The woman's voice was at least three tones softer than usual, "Six years old? Really only six?"

Fanes' mouth twisted as she pinched his cheeks, and he mumbled, "Um... six and a half years old..."

The woman's lips curled into an uncontrollable smile. She released her grip and began pinching Fanes' arm, then ruffled his hair with practiced ease, as if she had performed childcare countless times. Fanes' head wobbled from side to side as she stroked him, resembling a cat disoriented from being petted.

"So young and already an executive officer?"

The woman turned to the clown, her tone a mix of accusation and indulgence, "You're really exploiting child labor! He's only six! Six years old! You're making him come to the meeting dressed in old soldiers' clothes? You won't even make him a proper uniform?"

The clown took a sip from his cup and said calmly, "The budget is limited."

"Limited funding my foot!"

The woman turned back and continued to ruffle Fanes's hair. After she finished, she took a piece of candy from her sleeve and put it in his hand. "Sweetie, have a piece of candy first. Later, I'll take you to get two new outfits made to fit you. We'll make them to your measurements, whatever style you want."

Fanes clutched the candy, glanced at the lady's gleaming eyes, then at the skirmisher's expressionless face, and then at the captain... The old man still stared at them with a dark expression.

Finally, he turned to look at Arecino—who slightly looked away, as if to say, "Don't look at me, I don't know you."

Phanes bent down, unwrapped the candy, and popped it into his mouth. The moment the sweetness melted on his tongue, he suddenly felt that this group of fools wasn't so scary after all.

It should be good for yourself, at least.
