The two took the elevator down to the underground parking lot.

Ouyang Qian's car was a black BYD Han, clean and parked in a parking space next to a pillar; it was a company-provided car. She opened the driver's side door and got in, while Lin Feng got into the passenger seat from the other side and fastened his seatbelt.

As the car drove out of the underground parking garage, the sky outside the window was already getting dark, the streetlights were not yet on, and the traffic on the street was lined up in long queues.

Ouyang Qian gripped the steering wheel with both hands, her posture slightly more upright than most, her back pressed against the seat back, her gaze fixed on the road ahead.

Lin Feng leaned back in the passenger seat, shifting his gaze from the windshield to glance at her profile. From the side, the curve of her chest was more pronounced than when she was standing. The white silk shirt was thin and soft, and the seatbelt pulled it diagonally down from her shoulders, diagonally across her chest, leaving a slight indentation. The shirt was taut at the highest point of her curves, revealing a few fine lines in the fabric.

"Director Ouyang, you have the best figure I've ever seen." Lin Feng said this casually, as if he were talking about the nice weather. "I really didn't realize your child was already seven or eight years old."

Ouyang Qian didn't turn her head; her gaze remained fixed on the road ahead, and her hands on the steering wheel didn't move. However, the corners of her mouth curved slightly, though not dramatically. "Mr. Lin's words sound like a compliment, but also like he's teasing me. Anyway, thank you, I'll take it as a compliment."

"It was just a compliment. With a figure like yours, you'd definitely turn heads on the street; you'd easily cause an accident if you were driving."

"President Lin! You weren't speaking so casually during the meeting this afternoon."

"It's time to relax after the meeting."

"I've discovered that you have quite a sense of humor, Mr. Lin!"

……

Ouyang Qian stopped at the red light, tapped her fingers lightly on the steering wheel twice, then glanced at him, her gaze lingering on his face for a moment before returning to the road ahead. "Director Cheng called me that night. He said that after you spoke to Mayor Wang, he contacted me that very night, saying he wanted to invite me to dinner to apologize. His tone was completely different from when we had dinner that day; he was so polite that I almost didn't recognize him."

"What did you reply?"

"I refused," Ouyang Qian said calmly. "I can guess what he's thinking."

As the car passed an intersection, the buildings on both sides of the road changed from office buildings to residential areas, and the canopies of the roadside trees cast interlaced shadows under the streetlights.

Ouyang Qian turned on her right turn signal, slowed down, and turned into a quiet street lined with plane trees on both sides, their branches intertwining overhead to form a green corridor.

"My daughter came home that day and said that the school is much bigger than her old one, and the playground is better too," Ouyang Qian said. "The teachers are also very nice to her, and she really likes that school."

"As long as I can get into school," Lin Feng leaned back in his seat. "If you need anything in the future, just come find me. In Hehai City, I still have influence."

Ouyang Qian didn't say anything more. She turned the car into the gate of a residential area, where the security guard raised the barrier. The area was quiet, with several villas scattered among the green belts. Each building was low, with beige stone cladding on the exterior walls, dark gray window frames, and flowers growing on the balconies.

After parking the car in the underground garage, Ouyang Qian removed the key. "We're here. This is the building."

Lin Feng got out of the car; the underground parking garage was very clean.

When the elevator reached the eighth floor, Ouyang Qian took out her key to open the door, stepped aside to let him in, and said, "President Lin, please come in. There are men's slippers on the floor."

The house was larger than Lin Feng had imagined. The living room was spacious, and the floor-to-ceiling windows faced the central garden of the community, with the curtains half-drawn.

The sofa was a light gray fabric sofa, and on the coffee table were several children's textbooks and a pink pencil case. On the dining table were two plates of cooked dishes covered with plastic wrap, and a plate of cut fruit was placed next to them.

As Lin Feng followed Ouyang Qian into the room, the sound of a television came from the living room. An animated film was playing its ending theme, and colorful letters were jumping on the screen.

A little girl in a light blue dress sat cross-legged on the sofa, holding a lollipop in her hand. When she saw someone come in, she turned her head and her big eyes lingered on Lin Feng for two seconds.

Ouyang Qian bent down to change into slippers, put the keys into a small ceramic dish in the entryway, and said towards the living room, "Niu Niu, call him Uncle."

"Hello, Uncle," the little girl called out in a clear, sweet voice, then turned back to watch TV, her little braids swaying behind her head.

Lin Feng stood in the entryway, looked down at his empty hands, and then remembered that he hadn't brought anything with him when he came to visit.

She cleared her throat somewhat awkwardly. "Sorry, why didn't I think to bring a gift?"

"No need to bring anything," Ouyang Qian straightened up, waved her hand, and gestured with her chin toward the living room. "President Lin, please have a seat. I'll go change my clothes. The remote is on the coffee table; you can change the channel yourself if you want."

Lin Feng sat down in the living room. The sofa cushions were softer than he had imagined, and he sank into them. Niu Niu glanced at him, her eyes filled with the undisguised scrutiny typical of children, before looking down at her phone screen again, a lollipop in her mouth, her cheek puffing out.

The animated series on the TV screen has finished airing and is now playing the opening credits for the next episode. It's the same series again; it seems they've set it up for continuous playback.

The nanny peeked out from the kitchen; she was a woman in her fifties, wearing a blue and white striped apron, and holding a handful of unfinished green beans. "Miss Ouyang, the dishes are all prepared, we're just waiting for the soup. It's pork rib and corn soup, I simmered it for twenty minutes longer than you asked."

"Okay, Aunt Zhao, I'll take care of the rest." Ouyang Qian's voice came from the other end of the corridor.

When she came out again, she had changed into a loose light gray knitted cardigan with the neckline wide open, revealing a section of her collarbone and neckline. Her snow-white skin was dazzling, and her high, firm chest was faintly visible.

Her face had a clean, bare complexion after removing her makeup, and she seemed much more relaxed than when she was at the office. Her hair was down, draped over her shoulders, with slightly natural curls at the ends.

The nanny turned and went back into the kitchen, and Ouyang Qian followed her in.

Soon, the sizzling sound of oil coming from the stove came from the pan. The aroma of ginger and garlic being fried wafted out through the cracks in the kitchen door, mingling with the fragrance of meat and the sweet and smoky scent of soy sauce, gradually filling the entire living room.

Niu Niu turned off the TV, put down her phone, moved closer to Lin Feng, and looked up at him, asking, "Uncle, are you my mom's colleague?"

"yes!"

"Uncle, how long have you known my mother?"

Lin Feng thought for a moment, "Not long."

"How long is 'not long'?" Niu Niu tilted her head and asked seriously, "A month? Two months?"

"About half a month." Lin Feng smiled. This little girl is quite serious.

Niu Niu tilted her head and looked at him for a while, as if trying to figure out what his words meant. Biting on the lollipop stick, she mumbled, "So, are you her boss?"

"How did you know?"
