The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 70 Time suddenly slowed down.
Saturday morning.
When Raymond Lam was woken up by his alarm clock, sunlight was already streaming in through the gaps in the curtains.
Reaching for her phone, she turned off the alarm. On the screen lay a message from Shen Qianqian sent at 6:30: "I just woke up. Are you awake yet?" It was followed by a cat stretching emoji.
I replied, "Just woke up, going to the cafeteria?"
Shen Qianqian replied instantly. "The one near the North Gate. The usual spot."
After washing up, Lin Feng changed into a clean T-shirt, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and went out. He quickly arrived at the school. Shen Qianqian was already sitting at the folding table at the roadside stall outside the north gate.
I wore a light yellow short-sleeved shirt today.
She wore a white pleated skirt that draped over her thighs. Her hair was tied in a high ponytail, revealing her fair forehead and ears, and she wore the silver kitten earrings she had bought the night before.
On the table were two cups of soy milk, two fried dough sticks, and two tea eggs.
"Good morning." She smiled slightly as she saw him approaching.
Lin Feng sat down opposite her.
Shen Qianqian picked up a tea egg and peeled it, pinching the shell with her fingers and peeling it off bit by bit.
After peeling the dough, he put it on his plate, then picked up another one to peel for himself. The soy milk was steaming hot, and the fried dough sticks were golden brown.
After breakfast, the two of them walked towards the library.
The library had just opened, and there weren't many people in the reading room.
They found a seat by the window and sat down. Shen Qianqian took things out of her bag.
A finance textbook, notebook, pencil case, a bag of potato chips, two bottles of strawberry yogurt, and a box of chocolate chips.
Push the potato chips and yogurt to the center of the table and open the textbook.
Lin Feng opened his calculus textbook and flipped his notebook to the page where he had taken notes last time.
After reading for a while, Shen Qianqian's foot bumped against his foot under the table. He looked up at her; she was reading with her head down, her doll-like face quiet, but a small smile played at the corners of her lips.
Lin Feng lowered his head and continued reading.
She nudged him with her foot again, this time without pulling it back. Her canvas shoe was pressed against the side of his sneakers, separated by two layers of shoe uppers.
Lin Feng lowered his hand from the table, letting it fall beneath it. His fingers touched her thigh.
The pleated skirt draped over her legs, and his fingers rested slightly above her knees. Shen Qianqian's skin was cool and smooth, like a piece of cool jade.
He lightly brushed his finger against her thigh, and her leg twitched slightly, but she didn't pull away.
Shen Qianqian drew a circle on the edge of the textbook with the tip of her pen, then another circle, and her ears turned red instantly.
The door to the reading room was pushed open.
Two boys walked in, their eyes scanning the reading room. One of them saw Shen Qianqian and nudged the other with his elbow.
The two of them walked to the table next to them and sat down, opening their books, but their eyes kept glancing in Shen Qianqian's direction.
About five minutes later, one of them stood up and walked to Shen Qianqian's side.
"Excuse me, can I add you on WeChat? I'm from the School of Economics and Management, and I have a few questions about finance that I'd like to ask you."
Shen Qianqian looked up at him. "Sorry, I don't add strangers on WeChat."
The boy opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something.
Shen Qianqian had already turned her gaze back to the textbook, and placed her hand under the table, pressing down on Lin Feng's hand. The boy stood there for two seconds, then turned and left.
Another boy at the next table suppressed a laugh as the two of them packed up their things and left the reading room.
After the door closed, Shen Qianqian turned her head to look at Lin Feng. Her baby face showed a hint of smugness, and the corners of her mouth curved upwards.
He turned his hand over under the table and pressed it against Lin Feng's palm.
After leaving the library, Shen Qianqian put her textbooks and snacks into her canvas bag.
The two walked out of the school gate side by side. The campus was quieter than usual on Saturday. Only a few boys were playing basketball on the playground, and the basketballs made hollow echoes as they hit the concrete ground.
Shen Qianqian said that a new park had opened nearby and she wanted to go for a stroll, and Lin Feng agreed.
We soon arrived at the park on foot. It wasn't very big; it was built against a low hill and didn't have many recreational facilities.
The afternoon sun filtered through the leaves, casting dappled patterns on the stone path. There was a pavilion halfway up the mountain, and further up was a small artificial lake with a few water lilies floating on its surface.
There weren't many people; occasionally, elderly people walking their dogs would pass by.
The two walked slowly along the stone path.
Shen Qianqian's hand was suddenly clasped in hers again, their fingers intertwined. Walking along the side against the mountain wall, their canvas shoes rustled on the fallen leaves.
The hem of the light yellow shirt billowed slightly in the wind.
Raymond Lam finally understood why couples love strolling in parks. There aren't as many people as in shopping malls, they don't have to spend money, and they don't have to rush.
The stone path winds around the mountainside, and you can walk around it again after completing one loop. Time moves slowly, and you can squander it as you please.
You can talk about things you don't want others to hear, and you can stop under the shade of a tree and say nothing.
"Teacher Zhou posted a notice in the group chat that the exam is next Thursday, and we're leaving for Xiamen Friday night." Shen Qianqian turned to look at him. "I'm thinking of buying some clothes tomorrow. Something to wear to the beach. Are you free tomorrow?"
Lin Feng thought for a moment.
He wasn't sure if he had classes tomorrow; Xiaowei usually sent out the schedule for the following week on weekend evenings. "I'll let you know tomorrow morning. If I'm free, I'll come see you."
"Okay." Shen Qianqian didn't press him for details. She gently rubbed her fingers against his palm.
She knew she couldn't hold onto the boy too tightly.
Moreover, he had a childhood sweetheart who was his neighbor. This matter was like a tiny thorn in her heart, but she could feel it there occasionally.
The stone-paved road turned into a cypress grove.
The forest was dense, and sunlight filtered through the needles, scattering into tiny dappled spots on the ground. A fork in the path led to a more secluded corner, where several large cypress trees surrounded a small clearing with a stone bench.
The tree trunk behind the stone bench is covered with messy carvings, including names, heart-shaped patterns, and "I was here".
"Sit down for a while." Shen Qianqian sat down on the stone bench, the hem of her white pleated skirt draped over her knees. Lin Feng sat down next to her.
The cypress grove was quiet, with only the rustling of the needles in the wind. In the distance, the music playing from the park's loudspeakers could be faintly heard, indistinct and unclear.
Shen Qianqian placed the canvas bag next to the stone bench and leaned closer to Lin Feng. "Have you ever been to Xiamen?"
"No, to be honest, I've never even left the province."
"I've never been there either. I heard there are lots of cats on Gulangyu Island." She rested her head on his shoulder. "My mom said the satay noodles there are delicious. She also said she wanted to buy me a swimsuit. I said no need, I'll buy it myself."
Lin Feng turned his head to look at her. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the cypress branches and fell on her face.
The collar of the light yellow shirt was slightly open, and the fair skin below the collarbone was almost transparent in the sunlight.
She just looked up.
Lin Feng lowered his head and pressed his lips to hers. Her lips were soft and sweet with the scent of strawberry yogurt.
This kiss is different from the one at the entrance of the residential complex last night. No need to worry about the security guards seeing it, no need to worry about the last subway train.
There were only two people in the woods, and time seemed to slow down...
