Wizard: I Have a Nightmare World
Chapter 15 The Name of the Silver Pharmacist
The Bloodvine Wizard remained silent, his gaze constantly shifting between the potion and Lynn.
After a long while, he put down the medicine bottle, his chapped lips moving slightly as if he wanted to say something.
But at that moment, an untimely voice suddenly rang out.
"I refuse to accept this!"
The crowd parted automatically, and a tall, stern-faced apprentice strode out.
He was wearing a black apothecary robe, with three bronze stars pinned to his badge on his chest.
This is a sign of failing the potion apprentice exam three times; it is both proof of identity and a form of humiliation.
Lynn recognized the guy. He had ruined a material due to an operational error during the first round of material processing. Although he barely passed the first round, he only got half the points in the second round of imitation.
Under normal circumstances, his total score has already fallen out of the top ten, and even if he does something spectacular in the third round, he has no hope of turning things around.
He had heard others mention this person's name while he was in the waiting area.
Colin, a herbalist who had been working at White Raven Tower Academy for three years and had failed the potion apprenticeship exam three times in a row, was considered a "veteran" by everyone.
"Examiner, I want to report this!"
Colin strode to the front of the stage, pointed at Lynn, and spoke in a loud voice.
"I suspect that number 37 cheated in the third round of assessment!"
"The 'Boiling Blood Potion' he concocted couldn't possibly have been made by him alone!"
Upon hearing this, an eerie silence fell over the tent.
"Cheating? In this kind of situation?"
"But he did indeed produce a perfect quality [Blood Boiling Potion]..."
"But don't you find it strange? It's really unusual for an unknown herbalist to suddenly produce a potion of perfect quality during the assessment."
"Hey, he made this himself, does he think it's fake?"
"..."
The examiner in the black robe frowned, his gaze turning unfriendly to Colin, his tone stern:
"Do you have any evidence? If you make false accusations without evidence, you should know the consequences!"
Colin remained unfazed by the examiner's gaze, gave a cold laugh, and calmly pulled a crystal bottle from his pocket, holding it high.
"Of course I have evidence!"
"Everyone, please look! This is a perfectly crafted 'Blood Boiling Potion' that I purchased from the black market yesterday at great expense, personally concocted by the legendary 'Silver Pharmacist'!"
In the crystal bottle in his hand was a vial of crimson liquid that shimmered with a soft, silvery-white glow.
The brightness, color, and distribution of the halo were almost identical to the potion that Lynn had just prepared.
"As everyone knows, a mysterious [Silver Pharmacist] has recently appeared on the black market, and his perfectly crafted [Blood Boiling Potion] is in high demand among apprentices!"
"And this tube I'm holding is the one I bought for five hundred gold coins!"
Colin held up the medicine bottle, his voice growing increasingly impassioned.
"Just yesterday, I personally witnessed someone selling three vials of perfect-quality [Blood Boiling Potion] on the black market at once. It's said to be the latest creation of that [Silver Pharmacist]!"
"And today, this guy named Lynn brought out a perfect-quality [Blood Boiling Potion] during the assessment!"
As Colin finished speaking, he abruptly turned around, his gaze sharp as a steel blade, piercing directly at Lynn.
"Do you dare say that this vial of potion in your hand has nothing to do with the potions concocted by the [Silver Pharmacist]?"
"Did you buy the [Silver Pharmacist]'s potion on the black market beforehand, and then pretend to have concocted it yourself during the exam?!"
All eyes were drawn back to the Boiling Blood Potion in Colin's hand, Lynn, and the potions he had concocted.
Among those gazes were doubt, scrutiny, and schadenfreude.
After all, a suddenly emerging genius is far less satisfying than a cheater who has fallen from grace.
The examiner, who had just finished the assessment, also frowned. He looked at the potion in Colin's hand, and then at the potion that Lynn had not yet put away on his workbench.
When the two potions were placed side by side for comparison, they were indeed extremely similar. Whether it was the brightness of the silvery-white halo, the color and texture of the liquid, or the faint energy fluctuations emitted, there was almost no difference.
If there is any difference, it is that the glow of the vial of medicine on Lynn's workbench seems more vibrant, as if it had just come out of the oven.
However, these cannot serve as conclusive evidence.
The examiner was silent for a few seconds, then looked at Lynn.
"Number 37, is there anything you'd like to say?"
Lynn looked at the examiner with some surprise. The examiner was not asking her to "explain" herself, but rather asking her what she wanted to say.
This statement is rather intriguing.
He stood in front of the worktable, his face calm.
His gaze lingered on the vial in Colin's hand for a few seconds before sweeping across the faces of everyone present.
Those suspicious, envious, expectant, and gloating faces.
Then, he sighed softly.
"You said the potion in your hand was prepared by the Silver Pharmacist?"
Lynn turned the question on Colin.
Colin straightened his back.
"Of course!"
"I spent five hundred gold coins to buy this! Would I try to frame you with a fake?"
Lynn nodded in understanding, and then slowly began to speak.
"Five hundred gold coins is indeed not cheap."
"But what if I told you... that potion you're holding, supposedly concocted by the 'Silver Pharmacist,' was actually made by me?"
Lynn looked directly into Colin's eyes.
The tent was quiet for a few seconds, then burst into laughter.
"What did you say? You're the Silver Pharmacist?"
Colin laughed so hard he almost fell over.
"You? A herbalist?"
"You mean you're that silver-level apothecary who makes a fortune just by selling secondhand, perfect-quality items on the black market?"
"Hahaha, if you're the Silver Apothecary, then I'm the esteemed and officially recognized Wizard!"
The apprentices around him also shook their heads.
The name of the Silver Pharmacist has spread throughout the White Raven Tower apprentice circle in the past ten days.
It is said that he was an extremely mysterious master potion maker who could concoct potions of perfect quality using ordinary materials.
However, no one has ever seen the Silver Pharmacist's true face; they only know that the potions come from the apothecary.
How could a herbalist be a silver-level apothecary?
However, amidst the laughter, a hoarse and deep voice rang out again.
He's right.
The laughter stopped abruptly.
Everyone looked toward the source of the sound, and saw the Bloodvine Wizard slowly raise his hand, pointing at Lynn, his candle-like eyes filled with admiration.
"He is indeed the Silver Pharmacist."
The tent had fallen into dead silence for what seemed like the umpteenth time.
This time, however, the silence was deeper and more somber than ever before.
Colin's smile froze on his face. His mouth opened and closed, then opened again, looking like a dehydrated fish.
"No...it's impossible...how could he possibly be the Silver Pharmacist?"
"He's clearly just a herbalist!"
"I can prove it," another voice rang out.
Looking towards the source of the sound, the black-robed examiner had already put down the scoring list and slowly walked to Lynn's side.
He took out a silver badge from his pocket, which was engraved with a vine entwined around a pestle.
"The title 'Silver Pharmacist' originally came from the apothecary workshop."
"Because the silvery-white luster left on the bottles of potions prepared by this Mr. Lynn was very unique, he was given this nickname by the people."
"Harvey, the manager of the apothecary, had been selling medicines on his behalf."
The examiner in black robes spoke slowly, raising his head and scanning everyone present.
"So, Colin, the so-called 'Silver Pharmacist' potion in your hand is a product that came from the apothecary and was personally prepared by Lynn himself."
"To accuse him of cheating by using the potion he concocted is nothing short of a ridiculous joke."
Colin's face turned deathly pale instantly.
The crystal bottle in his hand crashed to the ground with a "crack," shattering into pieces. The silvery-white potion spilled all over the ground, emitting a rich herbal aroma.
But he couldn't care less about the potion anymore; his legs started to go weak, and he was swaying precariously.
He couldn't afford the consequences of falsely accusing an apprentice who had passed three rounds of assessments and received the personal approval of the Bloodvine Wizard.
"Drag him out, disqualify him from the assessment, and see who needs a potion test subject with knowledge of potions, then give him that one."
The examiner in black robes waved his hand expressionlessly.
Two guards dragged the limp Colin away, leaving a trail on the ground.
The tent fell silent again, and everyone's gaze toward Lynn had completely changed.
The initial suspicion and jealousy turned into deep awe.
In this dog-eat-dog world, if you are strong enough, all doubts will naturally disappear.
Moreover, he is a herbalist who can mass-produce perfect quality potions, a potion genius personally recognized by the Bloodvine Wizard, and a monster who scored almost full marks in the assessment.
This person is someone they can no longer even dream of reaching.
Bloodvine Wizard picked up the vial of [Boiling Potion] that Lynn had prepared again. This time, he didn't put it down, but instead put it directly into his sleeve.
He looked at Lynn, and a rare gentleness appeared in his eyes, which were burning with candlelight.
"Three days later, bring your belongings and come find me on the twelfth floor of the main tower of White Raven Tower."
"From today onwards, you are my successor."
