Wizard: I Have a Nightmare World

Chapter 53 Arrival, Totem World

The dimensional portal crossing process lasted only three seconds.

Lynn felt as if he were being gripped by an invisible hand, then suddenly pushed forward. The white light in front of him shattered abruptly, turning into countless fragments that scattered in all directions. Then, an unfamiliar sky appeared before him.

The dark red sky looked like a piece of cloth that had been soaked in blood and then dried.

A huge purple sun hung in the sky, casting a light with an eerie warmth that made one's skin feel slightly stinging.

Lynn took a deep breath; the air was filled with a smell of sulfur and decaying plants, quite different from the fresh herbal scent of the wizarding world.

"Is this the Totem World?"

He muttered to himself.

"Stop spacing out, let's get out of the teleportation point."

"The exit of the dimensional portal will retain astral energy fluctuations, which can easily attract totem beasts and wild totem masters."

Du Wei’s voice came from ahead, carrying an unusual sense of urgency.

Lynn immediately composed himself and followed Du Wei into a dense forest ahead.

Kulen and Fei Qing followed closely behind, while Scarlett trailed at the very back of the group like a shadow, running and glancing back to see if there were any pursuers.

The five walked through the dense forest for about fifteen minutes until Du Wei confirmed that he was far away from the teleportation point and stopped at a natural shelter made of a huge rock.

"Take a five-minute break. The coordinates of the dimensional portal's exit have been interfered with, and we've been teleported to a location at least three kilometers off course."

Du Wei put down his backpack and took out a palm-sized, silver-white compass, the needle of which was spinning wildly.

Lynn leaned against a rock, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

The trees in the dense forest are tall and twisted, with trunks that are an abnormal dark brown color and bark covered with raised lines that look like blood vessels.

The ground was covered with a thick layer of dark purple moss, which felt soft and spongy underfoot, with an unsettling elasticity.

"Everything here is filled with the scent of totem energy."

"See those vines? Those are Blood-Vine, a parasitic plant unique to the Totem World. It absorbs the totem power of surrounding creatures to grow."

"In the world of totems, this thing is as conspicuous as a road sign."

Du Wei put away the compass and pointed to some kind of vine hanging on a large tree not far away.

Lynn followed his finger and saw that the vines were covered with fine red veins that pulsated slightly like blood vessels.

"So what do we need to do now?"

"Lynn asked."

Du Wei pulled a map made of animal hide from his backpack and spread it out on the stone.

The map marked the areas explored by the vanguard, with most areas blank except for a few key locations.

"According to the vanguard's intelligence, we are currently located in the southeastern part of the Totem World continent, about two days' journey from the nearest acropolis, Crimson Rock Acropolis."

Du Wei's finger traced across the map.

"We need to find a suitable location to establish an outpost supply point within a day."

There are three requirements:

First, concealment;

Second, it is close to a water source;

Third, there are medicinal herbs and game resources available nearby.

Kulen squatted to the side, drew two short-handled battle axes from his waist, and sharpened the blades with a whetstone, making a harsh scraping sound.

"It's best to find a high place with a good view, which is easy to defend and difficult to attack."

Scarlett suddenly spoke, her voice still icy.

"We also need to be able to overlook the mainland. If the totemists of Crimson Rock City want to go south, they will definitely take the trade route that runs through the southeast. We need to know their movements."

Lynn squinted, his mind racing as he recalled the terrain data he had simulated in the nightmare world.

He suddenly remembered something and pointed to an area in the southeast direction on the map.

"Where is it? The map marks it as a hilly area, but the vanguard didn't mark it in detail."

"From a topographical point of view, this hill is located on the side of the main transportation route of Chiyanwei City, and it is not too far from the water source."

Du Wei glanced at Lynn, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

"You only looked at the data for ten days, and you're already so familiar with the terrain?"

Lynn smiled slightly.

"Get used to remembering useful things."

Du Wei didn't ask any further questions and nodded.

"Then let's scout out that hilly area first. If it's suitable, we'll build the outpost there."

The five set off again, quickly traversing the dense forest.

Lynn followed in the middle of the group, while Du Wei led the way, and Cullen cleared the path. He swung his battle axe with both hands, slicing through the vines and bushes blocking the way like paper.

After walking for about two kilometers, the dense forest ahead suddenly thinned out, revealing a wide valley.

As soon as Lynn's vision opened up, he felt a scorching heat rush towards him.

In the center of the valley, a creature as large as a bison was munching on purple moss on the ground.

The creature was covered in crimson scales, with a row of sharp bone spurs along its back, and wisps of white steam occasionally spewed from its mouth.

Most strikingly, a fist-sized crimson crystal core is embedded in the center of its forehead, radiating a pulsating light.

"Crimson Flame Wolf? No, it's bigger, with thicker scales..."

Lynn muttered to himself, a wind blade already quietly forming in his hand.

"Rock Armored Lizard Dragon and Earth Ridge Totem Beast are frequent visitors to this area."

"Its weaknesses are in the gaps between its abdominal scales and its eyes."

"The crimson crystal core on its forehead is its totem core. If it is shattered, it will lose most of its combat power."

Du Wei said in a low voice.

No sooner had he finished speaking than the rock-armored lizard seemed to sense something, abruptly raising its head, its vertical pupils locking onto the bushes where the group was hiding, and letting out a low roar.

"We've been discovered."

Scarlett said calmly, and as soon as she finished speaking, an arrow whistled through the air and struck the Rock Armored Lizard's eye with pinpoint accuracy.

Roar! ! !

The Rock Armored Lizard let out a painful roar, violently shaking its head as blood gushed from its eye sockets. It frantically lashed the ground with its tail, sending pebbles and dirt flying everywhere.

"Kullen!"

Du Wei shouted.

"They're here!"

Kulun roared, crouched down and emerged from the bushes, axe in both hands, his steps heavy and powerful.

Although the rock-armored lizard was blind in one eye, it still instinctively lunged toward him, opening its blood-red maw to reveal a mouthful of sharp teeth.

Kulen neither dodged nor evaded; the moment the lizard dragon pounced, he suddenly turned to the side, his right-hand battle axe slashing out and striking the lizard dragon's neck hard.

But it only managed to cut in less than three inches before being blocked by the hard scales.

"What a hard shell!"

Kuren cursed, but his movements didn't stop. His left-hand battle axe swept across, striking the lizard dragon's foreleg.

At that moment, Lynn also moved.

He suddenly swung his right hand out, and a condensed wind blade whistled out, precisely piercing through the Rock Armored Lizard's injured eye socket and going straight into its brain.

The massive body of the Rock Armored Lizard Dragon suddenly stiffened, then crashed to the ground, twitched a few times, and remained completely still.

Lynn stepped forward, squatted down next to the enormous creature, and focused his gaze on the red crystal core on its forehead.

He reached out and touched the crystal core, feeling a warm power flow from his fingertips.

"Is this the core of the totem beast's power?"

He spoke in a low voice, drew a short sword from his waist, and carefully cut along the edge of the crystal core.

A few minutes later, he carefully removed a fist-sized crystal core that emitted a faint red light and held it in his hand.

He could sense that the crystal core contained an energy completely different from the magic of the wizarding world—rough and wild, full of primal life force.

"Take it back and study it."

Lynn put the crystal core into his spatial ring, then took out several vials of blood samples from the Rock Armored Lizard, and even cut off a small piece of scales and a bone spur, intending to dissect and analyze them in detail later.

Du Wei looked at Lynn's serious expression and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.

"It seems we've indeed gained a true potion master in our team."

After dealing with the carcass of the rock-armored lizard, the five continued their journey and finally arrived at the hilly area at dusk.

Lynn's judgment was correct; the terrain of these hills was indeed excellent.

In the center of the hills stands a stone mountain about sixty meters high, with steep cliffs on three sides and only a gentle slope on the south side leading up to it.

The mountaintop offers a panoramic view, overlooking an area spanning several kilometers, including the trade route that runs through the southeast.

"This is it."

"From here we can see everything happening in the direction of Chiyanwei City, and the geological structure of the rocky mountain is suitable for excavating caves, which can serve as our main base."

Scarlett took a specially made feathered arrow from her quiver, nocked it on her bowstring, and stared sharply at the trade route ahead.

"There are wheel tracks on the trade route, indicating that someone passed by within the last three days, but not many, probably four or five people."

"Those might be wild totem guards on patrol or scouts from caravans."

As Du Wei spoke, he took out a thin metal probe from his backpack, inserted it into the rock on the ground, and then closed his eyes to sense it.

"The rock strata are deep enough for excavation. Give me two days, and I can dig an underground fortification here large enough to accommodate ten people."

Lynn stood on the edge of the mountaintop, gazing at the faint outline of the city on the distant horizon.

That is Crimson Rock City, the gateway to the southeastern part of the Totem World, and the first challenge they will face after entering this plane.

"Du Wei, when will the Steel Scales and Moon Ring people enter the Totem World?"

Lynn suddenly spoke.

Upon hearing this question, Du Wei's lips curled into a cold smile.

"They were the second batch, entering three days later than us."

"So for the next three days, our only enemy is the native inhabitants of this world."

He paused, his gaze becoming deep.

"Three days later, our enemies will also include those so-called 'our own people'."

Lynn didn't speak, but his right hand quietly tightened its grip on the hilt of the short sword at his waist.

In the heart of the Totem Continent, deep beneath the Totem Holy City, in a secret chamber filled with totem runes, a gaunt figure sat cross-legged before an altar.

The figure was covered with dense totem patterns, each pattern emitting a faint light, like a living snake slithering under the skin.

There was a shocking wound on his chest. Although it had been forcibly sealed by the power of the totem, the black energy surging within it could still be seen. It was a wound left by the vanguard wizard of the Crescent Rock Squadron a few months ago.

Suddenly, a fist-sized crystal ball on the altar lit up, projecting an image of five figures passing through a silver-white dimensional passage and landing in a dense forest.

"Here they come again! The invaders...it's those invaders again."

The gaunt figure opened its eyes, a cold killing intent flashing in its gaze.

His fingers tapped lightly on the edge of the altar, producing a faint tapping sound.

A moment later, the door to the secret chamber was pushed open, and a middle-aged man wearing animal skins and with crimson totem patterns painted on his face knelt on one knee and bowed his head respectfully.

"High Priest".

The gaunt figure slowly spoke, his voice hoarse and low:

"Pass down the order to mobilize all available totemists in Crimson Rock City to search for the five outsiders in the southeastern hills."

"High Priest, what is the strength of those five people?"

"They are all apprentices, none of them are formal wizards. But those who can enter in the first batch at this time are definitely not ordinary apprentices."

A cold smile curled at the corner of the gaunt figure's mouth.

"I want them alive. I want to pry the brains of those invaders out of them how many of them came and where they planned to attack from."

The middle-aged totemister solemnly lowered his head.

"Yes, High Priest."
