After being reborn, my sister insisted on marrying me.
Chapter 35: Reporting for Duty
September 1st.
First day of school.
Over a million undergraduate, freshman, and graduate students have flocked to Beijing in the past two days.
That's right.
The capital city alone has nearly a million undergraduate and graduate students.
After all, Yenching University is undoubtedly the best in the country when it comes to educational resources.
The university also officially started its semester.
Xueyuan Road, at the entrance of the College of Applied Arts and Sciences.
Chen Xinyi's white X5 was parked outside the school gate, and she was the first to get out of the car.
A white shirt and black trousers, her hair tied in a ponytail, and the platinum band on her ring finger flashed briefly in the sunlight.
Then came Lin Siyan, wearing a light gray dress, standing quietly by the car, as if she had just stepped out of an art exhibition.
Kim Se-rin climbed out from the back seat, wearing tight jeans and a white T-shirt, with her ponytail tied high. She looked like a gym guy just standing there.
Wei Yi was the last to come down. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue jeans, carrying his registration materials and a bag.
The school gate was bustling with activity. Freshmen carried large and small bags, parents followed behind carrying blankets, and volunteers held up signs for each college and shouted at the top of their lungs.
Then, as the four people next to X5 walked towards the school gate, the area near the gate became noticeably quieter.
A senior student who was giving directions had his hand frozen in mid-air, and his companion nudged him with his elbow.
"Holy crap. They're so beautiful! And there are three of them! Who's that guy?"
Chen Xinyi took Wei Yi's arm, the movement as natural as breathing.
Lin Siyan and Jin Shilin followed behind, no more than half a step apart.
The four of them made their way through the crowd at the school gate, like an icebreaker.
The reporting process was quick.
Thanks to the help of Jin Shilin, a senior student who is also the vice minister of the external relations department of the College of Liberal Arts Student Union.
Wei Yi was assigned a dormitory on the third floor, a four-person room.
When the four arrived.
Zhao Gang, Wei Yi's roommate, was squatting on the ground unpacking a camouflage luggage bag, with a pair of military boots at his feet.
His father was hanging a mosquito net next to him, his back straight. He wasn't wearing a military uniform, but he looked like a veteran.
Another roommate, Luo Xiaofeng, was sitting on the lower bunk by the window with a bag of potato chips in his hand. His mother was stuffing medicine and snacks into his closet while muttering to herself.
The third roommate, Li Junjie, had just arrived and was sitting by the headboard, lost in thought. There was a guitar case next to him, and his mother was making the bed.
There was a sudden noise in the corridor.
All three looked up at the same time. The door opened.
Wei Yi walked in. Three women followed behind him.
Zhao Gang stopped pulling at the mosquito net.
Luo Xiaofeng was stuffing potato chips into his mouth, his hand dangling in mid-air. The chips slipped through his fingers and fell back into the bag without him noticing.
Li Junjie moved his guitar case to the side, almost knocking over the warm water his mother had just poured.
The three parents reacted in unison, all pausing for a moment before continuing with their tasks, but their movements all slowed down.
The main reason is these four who came in; the man is handsome and the woman is beautiful.
The three girls each had their own unique strengths and characteristics.
Without exception, they were all stunningly beautiful.
Wei Yi nodded to his roommates and walked to the bed with his name on it.
Zhao Gang's father hung up the mosquito net and started folding camouflage clothing, Luo Xiaofeng's mother sorted the medicines and stuffed them into the cabinet, and Li Junjie's mother unfolded the quilt and spread it out.
Wei Yigang pulled the bed sheet out of his bag, but Chen Xinyi had already reached out and taken it.
"Sis, I can do it myself..."
"Don't move. You're making the bed like you're laying out pickled vegetables." She bent down and unfolded the sheet, glancing back at the bed. "Sister Shilin, Siyan, lend a hand."
Lin Siyan responded and went over to put the pillowcase on the bedside table.
Then she took out a storage box from her bag, and placed a pen holder, a desk lamp, a charging cable, and a bottle of eye drops on the table, neatly arranged.
Jin Shilin squatted on the ground, unpacked Wei Yi's suitcase, folded the clothes one by one and put them into the wardrobe, arranging them by color.
Chen Xinyi pulled up the four corners of the bed sheet, folded it, and tucked it in, making the bed even more neatly than the three parents next to her.
The three had a clear division of labor, their movements were fluid, and most importantly, they were all good-looking.
Even their work is a pleasure to behold.
They were so captivated that they even forgot what they were doing.
Zhao Gang spent almost three minutes wiping one shoe and still wasn't finished.
His dad unfolded the camouflage uniform he had folded and then folded it again.
Luo Xiaofeng chewed potato chips much slower than usual, and didn't even react when his mother pushed him to move aside.
Li Junjie wouldn't let go of his guitar case. His mother urged him to pack his things, but he said he would in a while.
Zhao Gang was the first to recover. He cleared his throat, stood up, and walked to Wei Yi's side.
"Hey bro, is this your sister? She's gorgeous. Does she have a boyfriend?"
Luo Xiaofeng poked his head out from the lower bunk: "I'd like to ask too."
Li Junjie didn't say anything, but his eyes, which were tightly holding the guitar case, were almost the same.
Zhao Gang's father listened from the side, a slight smile playing on his lips.
She probably felt that her son was promising and knew how to take initiative.
Chen Xinyi straightened up, smoothed out the last corner of the bed sheet, turned around, and smiled at Zhao Gang.
My surname is Chen.
Zhao Gang nodded: "Hello, Sister Chen."
"His surname is Wei," Chen Xinyi said, pointing to Wei Yi.
Zhao Gang was still nodding.
"We are a married couple."
The dormitory was quiet.
Zhao Gang's nodding motion froze halfway through.
Luo Xiaofeng clutched the bag of potato chips in his hand but forgot to put them in his mouth.
Li Junjie's mouth dropped open.
Zhao Gang's father put the clothes down, glanced at Wei Yi, and then at Chen Xinyi.
The smile on his lips turned into another expression.
Luo Xiaofeng's mother's hand remained stuck in a drawer.
Li Junjie's mother crumpled the corner of the quilt.
"Brother," Zhao Gang took a deep breath, "you're amazing. Sorry, I was overthinking it."
He sat back on the edge of the bed, picked up the clothes his father had folded, folded them again, and then put them down, unsure of what to do.
Luo Xiaofeng and Li Junjie didn't speak, but their eyes conveyed the same message.
The atmosphere was somewhat awkward.
Just then.
Another person appeared at the door.
She had a round face, a ponytail, wore a red vest for the student union's orientation, and was holding a key in her hand as she stood at the door peering inside.
He called out when he saw Wei Yi.
"Wei Yi! Why aren't you replying to my WeChat messages? I have the office key, the internet is already installed, I'll go over this afternoon to sign some papers, the startup funding will be available in the next couple of days... wait?"
Sulei was halfway through her sentence.
She then noticed that there were three women standing next to Wei Yi's bed.
Her speaking speed slowed down from that of a high-speed train to that of a bicycle.
"Is this...a relative of yours?"
Chen Xinyi, Lin Siyan, and Jin Shilin all turned to look at her at the same time.
Wei Yi quickly put down what he was holding.
"Sister, this is Sulei. She's an upperclassman from our liberal arts college, and the vice president of the student council." He paused, "She's also my business partner at the university."
Chen Xinyi's eyebrows twitched.
She looked Sulei up and down, her gaze sweeping back and forth between the red vest and the keychain.
"Business partner? Business startup? When did you start a business project while you were in school?"
Su Lai stood frozen at the doorway, glancing at Wei Yi and then at Chen Xinyi, her face showing a hint of panic. "Ah, did I do something wrong...?"
Wei Yi coughed and smiled as he said to Su Lai, "It's okay, go ahead and tell me. There's nothing I can't let my sister know."
Sulai breathed a sigh of relief.
She came in and placed the key on Wei Yi's desk.
Then she briefly explained how she met Wei Yi at the driving school during the summer vacation, how she read his shared bicycle business plan, and how she helped him get approval from the entrepreneurship guidance center and the student affairs office.
She didn't lower her voice when she said these words.
Zhao Gang, Luo Xiaofeng, Li Junjie, and three parents all heard it.
After listening, Chen Xinyi turned to look at Wei Yi.
There was no anger in his eyes, but rather surprise.
"Have you been busy with your startup for over a month?"
"Sis, I was planning to tell you the truth today anyway."
Chen Xinyi glared at him, walked up to him, and lowered her voice.
I'll deal with you when I get home tonight.
After listening, Jin Shilin finished speaking.
She muttered something in a voice that only the few of them could hear.
"We'll see who gets the better of whom. Yesterday at the Korean restaurant, Xinyi, didn't you say you couldn't even straighten your back?"
Chen Xinyi's face flushed red. She turned to look at Jin Shilin, gritting her teeth.
"Kim Se-rin!"
Kim Se-rin whistled nonchalantly, her expression innocent.
Lin Siyan remained expressionless.
Sulai pretended not to hear anything and pushed the key to Wei Yi's side.
"Anyway, I've given you the keys. Come over this afternoon to sign the papers; Director Li is waiting."
She nodded to the three senior students and turned to walk out.
The red vest disappeared in a flash at the door.
The dormitory is quiet again.
This silence was different from before.
The silence just now was heartbreak; this time it's because there's too much information, and my brain can't keep up.
Zhao Gang spoke first.
"Dude, you haven't even started school yet, and you're already working on a startup project during summer vacation? What kind of startup project? What kind of office?"
Wei Yi hadn't spoken yet.
Jin Shilin answered for Wei Yi first.
It wasn't that she knew beforehand, but rather that she helped Wei Yi keep it from Chen Xinyi.
Rather, as the head of the external relations department of the school's student union, she knew Sulei, the vice president of the student union.
The two also worked together in the student council.
Sulei even approached her for help with this bike-sharing project.
Kim Se-rin agreed.
Essentially, she was tasked with contacting the external relations departments of student unions at other campuses of the university, under the name of the external relations department of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Union.
She just didn't expect it.
This student entrepreneurship project actually belongs to Wei Yi.
"This project is a bike-sharing company called Tage Mobility. There were people at Peking University working on similar projects back in April. Wei Yi probably thought it was a good sector, so he started preparing for it during the summer vacation."
As Jin Shilin spoke, she glanced at Chen Xinyi and Lin Siyan, "Su Lai asked me for help before, so I know about these things. I didn't expect this project to actually belong to Wei Yi."
She paused, then added, "School starts today, so it's perfect time to go online, right?"
This question was directed at Wei Yi.
Wei Yi smiled and nodded, "That's right."
So she said to the others, pointing out the window, "Those are the blue and white bicycles downstairs. You should have seen them when you came in."
"Shared bikes..." Zhao Gang murmured.
Luo Xiaofeng simply ran to the window and looked down.
Sure enough, a row of blue and white bicycles were parked downstairs, with QR codes and logos printed on them.
He turned his head.
"Those cars...are they yours?"
Wei Yi smiled and nodded.
Zhao Gang stood in front of the bed, the mosquito net crooked and tattered like a tattered tent.
The shirt his dad had folded three times earlier was shaken open again by him; this time, he didn't fold it.
He looked at Wei Yi and remained silent for a long while. "Brother, what exactly did you experience during your three years of high school? Who are you, anyway?"
Luo Xiaofeng also turned back from the window and took a deep breath.
"On my first day of college, my roommate told me he was there to start a business. He also brought three incredibly beautiful wives with him."
He flopped onto the bed, staring blankly at the upper bunk.
Li Junjie stood up, picked up his guitar, and walked up to Wei Yi.
"Is your bike-sharing business still hiring? I'd like to work part-time while studying."
Zhao Gang also stood up.
Count me in.
Luo Xiaofeng jumped out of bed.
"Count me in, count me in! Since we're in the same dorm and my roommate is starting a business, I have to lend a hand!"
