After being reborn, my sister insisted on marrying me.
Chapter 37: Heaven Mode and Hell Mode
UN General Assembly.
College of Applied Arts and Sciences.
On the afternoon of the new student registration day, after leaving the incubation base, Wei Yi said he would treat them to a cup of milk tea on the way.
"We have to drink since the boss is treating us," Luo Xiaofeng was the first to respond.
Zhao Gang patted his stomach: "Then I'll save the cost of a bottle of water."
Sulei chuckled beside her and continued walking forward.
Opposite the main gate of the Southwest Associated University, a magenta and bright yellow signboard reflected the sunlight.
The grinning ice cube logo was particularly eye-catching, and there were twenty or thirty students queuing up at the entrance, with the end of the line almost reaching the edge of the sidewalk.
Sulei glanced at the queue: "I passed by this shop several times a few days ago when it was under renovation. It's finally open today, and I didn't expect it to be so popular. I'll have to give it a try."
"Sweet Ice Cream?" Zhao Gang looked up and read the words on the signboard. "The name is quite amusing."
The four people lined up at the back of the queue.
The sun was very strong in early September, making the back of your neck feel hot.
Luo Xiaofeng stood in line and read out the names of the dishes on the menu from beginning to end. He stopped when he got to "Grapefruit with Succulents": "Can this be served with tapioca pearls?"
The shop assistant, a young woman, smiled and nodded: "Yes, one yuan more."
Luo Xiaofeng turned to look at Wei Yi: "Boss, you'll reimburse me for adding extra ingredients?"
Report.
He solemnly added a portion of pearls, his expression as if he were making a major investment decision.
Zhao Gang ordered a lemonade, Li Junjie ordered mango pomelo sago, and Su Lai glanced at the menu and ordered a full cup of red grapefruit.
A few people chatted casually as the queue slowly moved forward.
No one thought much of it; they all assumed that Wei Yi was just being generous and that it had nothing to do with the newly opened milk tea shop near the school gate.
After queuing for ages, it was finally their turn.
Zhao Min wasn't there when we ordered.
As they approached their side, Zhao Min came out and was mending straw boxes at the counter. She looked up and saw Wei Yi standing in the line, and paused for a moment.
"Wei Yi? What brings you here?"
She wiped her hands on her apron, peeked out and spoke to him, her voice coming from behind the counter, floating above the students in line, "Sister Shilin just left. There wasn't enough lemonade; she said we'd have to add fifty percent more tomorrow."
"Business is good. I brought my roommate over for a milk tea."
Zhao Min glanced at the three people behind him, her gaze lingering on Luo Xiaofeng and the others. She suddenly laughed, wiping a puddle of water from the bar: "You didn't tell them?"
Zhao Gang was about to speak to Li Junjie when he stopped.
"What did you say?" Luo Xiaofeng asked.
Su Lai's gaze shifted from the milk tea menu to Zhao Min.
Zhao Min smiled brightly: "This store belongs to Wei Yi. He's the chief consultant and the big boss. He's the one who decided on the brand positioning and pricing strategy for our Sweet Ice Cream."
Everyone in the group looked at Wei Yi.
"When did you open another bubble tea shop?"
Sulei's voice was at least half a tone higher than usual, "Weren't you with me working on bike sharing during summer vacation? And taking driving lessons with me?"
Luo Xiaofeng's mouth dropped open: "Didn't you start a bike-sharing business? How come you opened a bubble tea shop too?"
Zhao Min continued to finish off the customers while packing their orders.
She already knew from Jin Shilin that Wei Yi was starting a bike-sharing business at the United Nations University.
I feel no guilt about it.
"The shared bikes belong to him. But the tea shop belongs to him too."
She handed a glass of lemonade to the student behind her, her tone as light as if she were announcing the weather forecast, "Oh, by the way, he doesn't just have this one store. Next week, three Tianbingbing stores will open at Renmin University, Peking University, and Tsinghua University at the same time."
She paused, then added, "Besides Sweet Ice Cream, three more Heytea stores are opening this month in Sanlitun, Wangjing, and Guomao. Heytea is a high-end brand, with an average order value of 20-30 yuan, targeting white-collar workers and fashionable young people."
The student who took the lemonade glanced at Wei Yi.
Zhao Min straightened the straw box: "Heytea is also his; he's the chief consultant. He also decided on the brand positioning and influencer marketing strategy."
Zhao Gang sat down on the plastic stool next to him.
Luo Xiaofeng has stopped talking.
Li Junjie looked down at the mango pomelo sago he had just received, then looked up at the two grinning ice cube logos on the signboard, his expression as if he were trying to understand the world anew.
Su Lai, observing the expressions of the three people and then glancing at Wei Yi, finally managed to blurt out, "So, while I was helping you run shared bikes during the summer vacation, you were simultaneously running six tea shops?"
Wei Yi nodded and then shook his head: "No, no. I mainly contributed some money and ideas. My sister and Sister Zhao were the ones who did most of the work."
Sulei placed a full glass of grapefruit on the table: "Isn't that just like shared bicycles?"
"almost."
Luo Xiaofeng finally regained his ability to speak, his voice rising a half-tone: "So we thought the big boss was treating you, but you were actually drinking your own homemade drinks?"
"It's my sister's, it's my sister's."
Zhao Min laughed and continued, "Don't listen to his nonsense. His sister is his wife, and he and his sister always say, 'What's his is his sister's, and what's his sister's is his.' So you're not wrong, it really is his."
Wei Yi: "..."
This is Sister Zhao.
He had initially thought the person was decent, at least not as petty as Liu Yang.
I didn't expect them to be almost the same.
Sulei silently picked up her full glass of grapefruit, inserted the straw, and took a big gulp.
Luo Xiaofeng looked down at the grape succulent in his hand, the one with pearls added.
He chewed the pearl a couple of times and suddenly felt that the texture of the pearl was a bit complicated.
Zhao Gang stood up from the plastic stool, walked to the counter, and solemnly asked Zhao Min, "Sister, are you still hiring part-time workers?"
"We're hiring," Zhao Min said, pointing to the job posting on the door. "Fifteen yuan per hour, plus a free drink for employees every day. But you won't be available during military training; you'll have to wait until after training."
"It's okay, I'll just get a number first," Zhao Gang said.
On the way back to the dormitory, the four of them were silent for a while.
The setting sun filtered through the gaps in the sycamore leaves, casting dappled light that flickered across the sidewalk.
Zhao Gang spoke first: "The thing I regret most now is that I didn't learn anything during the summer vacation."
He was the captain of his high school basketball team and was admitted to the National Defense Student Program. He always thought of himself as someone important.
Today I think we might need to reassess it.
His dad said he must get his driver's license during college, but now he feels that just getting a driver's license might not be enough.
Luo Xiaofeng caught up from behind: "How did you manage to get your driver's license, start a business, and open a bubble tea shop all at the same time during summer vacation?"
"It's not that complicated," Wei Yi said.
Sulei walked beside him, remaining silent for a while before speaking: "I thought I'd only helped you with one project over the summer. Turns out you've completed two tracks and gotten a driver's license. And you've achieved results on both tracks."
She paused, her tone suddenly becoming serious: "Next time there's a new project, let me know in advance. Don't let me find out from other people outside the bubble tea shop that my boss has opened six more stores."
Li Junjie was the last to speak.
He carried his guitar all the way to the dormitory entrance and then said, "His life is heaven mode, our lives are hell mode."
Back in the dormitory, Zhao Gang plopped down on the bed.
"Wei Yi, when is your bike-sharing company hiring? I'd like to work part-time while studying."
Luo Xiaofeng raised his hand: "Count me in too. As long as there's enough milk tea."
Li Junjie seemed to remember something and turned to look at Luo Xiaofeng: "The manager of Tian Bingbing just said they're hiring part-time staff, are you interested?"
"Yes," Luo Xiaofeng said without hesitation. "Can I work two jobs at the same time?"
"As long as your body can handle it, it's fine," Wei Yi said with a smile.
My phone vibrated.
Chen Xinyi's WeChat message: "Come home for dinner tonight. The pork rib soup will be ready soon. I'll have to wait until you finish your military training before I can come home."
He glanced down and replied, "Received."
Outside the window, students were scanning QR codes to rent bikes. *Beep*. The edges of the leaves on the ginkgo tree next to me were already turning yellow.
