Spring Night Kiss.

Chapter 31 Just Her Bed Partner

Song Qingjia fled, and fled to an unusually far place.

It was raining outside when I came out of Heathrow Airport.

That's London for you, always drizzling and overcast, the gloomy sky making your mood damp too.

She admitted that she had deserted.

It's fine to play around with it, but it's too much of a burden for her to bear.

Song Qingjia lay on her bed in the apartment and sighed. It was such a pity that she would never be able to touch such a beautiful body again, nor experience that blissful feeling of floating on clouds.

Although she has no one else to compare herself to, Xu Zhouye's skills are definitely not bad.

After all, you have the physical resources to begin with.

What a pity.

Song Qingjia lived in London for three years, the first year for studying and the last two years for working. He used to be always on the go, but this time he finally had plenty of free time.

She gave up her original apartment and rented a small apartment in South Kensington.

I wake up naturally every day, have breakfast at the cafe at the corner of the alley, take a walk along the Thames, visit museums, and read on a park bench until I fall asleep.

Life is like a stretched sugar thread, cloyingly sweet, yet bland as water.

I only think of that person occasionally.

Especially at night.

The way he laughed, the strength with which he gripped her waist, the low, husky voice when his lips touched her earlobe.

Song Qingjia turned over, buried her face in the pillow, and sighed.

If only the other person could just be her bed partner.

There's no need to open your heart or get emotionally involved.

It's just about enjoying physical pleasure.

Unfortunately, how could a chosen one like him be content to be merely someone else's amusement?

She sighed again, realizing she was still too idle. Once she returned to work, so busy she wouldn't even have time to eat, she wouldn't have the energy to think about these things.

The sun has set in the blink of an eye, and the three-month holiday is over in the blink of an eye.

Just as she expected, Xu Zhouye didn't go to great lengths to find her.

I can't say whether I'm relieved or regretful, but I just feel that this is for the best.

Song Qingjia talked to her landlady about terminating the lease. The landlady was a kind elderly white woman who seemed quite reluctant to see her go. She even gave her a bag of freshly baked biscuits to eat on her way.

She took it, hugged the other person, and pulled her suitcase out of the apartment building.

As soon as I reached the stairs, I saw a car parked across the street with a person leaning against it.

His suit jacket was unbuttoned, his tie was loose, and a cigarette was between his fingers. The smoke was blown away by the wind, revealing his somewhat tired eyes.

Nie Yuhuai.

Seeing her come out, he stubbed out his cigarette, straightened up, walked over, and stood in front of her.

"What are you doing here?" Song Qingjia asked.

"We'll bring you back to China."

"Then you seem to know my whereabouts quite well."

Nie Yuhuai pulled her suitcase over, his tone still calm and collected: "You are my sister."

Song Qingjia chuckled softly, walked past him, opened the passenger door, and got in. A free driver—might as well use it.

The car drove out of South Kensington and headed towards the airport.

While steering the car, Nie Yuhuai glanced at the person next to him and said, "I've prepared an apartment for you in Shanghai, near the racetrack. You can live there after you start working."

"No need, I have a place to stay." Song Qingjia refused without even thinking.

"This house was given to you personally; it has nothing to do with Aunt Cheng."

Song Qingjia: "Then I absolutely cannot accept it. I would owe you such a huge favor."

Nie Yuhuai paused, then lowered his voice: "Does it have to be this way?"

"What?"

"I thought that aside from our step-sibling relationship, we were friends. Are you going to refuse my help as a friend?"

Song Qingjia continued looking out the window and sighed, "Precisely because we're friends, I can't take advantage of them."

Nie Yuhuai retorted, "So, you can take what belongs to Shen Lingyi?"

"How can they be the same?"

"What's different?"

"The genders are different." Song Qingjia turned her head, her tone innocent.

Nie Yuhuai was at a loss with her, and rubbed his temples: "You're so sharp-tongued, I've never been able to out-argue you since we were kids."

Song Qingjia didn't respond, and the car fell silent.

Nie Yuhuai glanced at her again and saw her rubbing her arms, so he reached out and turned up the temperature of the air conditioner.

"You and that Xu Zhouye..."

In the two months that had passed by her side, the man seemed to have never appeared. He had a guess in his heart, but he still wanted to ask.

Song Qingjia paused, realizing she had dreamt about Xu Zhouye just yesterday. Hearing his name now made her feel momentarily disoriented.

She brushed a strand of hair from her forehead and said casually, "We broke up. Didn't you guess that?"

Nie Yuhuai's expression remained unchanged: "It's better that you broke up. He wasn't right for you."

Not suitable?

He does know how to offer his opinions.

However, Song Qingjia became somewhat interested, sat up straighter, and turned to look at him: "Then who do you think is suitable? The son of some minister? Or the son of some CEO?"

Nie Yuhuai: "Neither is suitable."

"Aunt Cheng will no longer interfere in your love life, nor will she introduce you to any more blind dates."

Song Qingjia was slightly taken aback: "Oh, then I'll thank her."

"So," Nie Yuhuai added, "you can come home more often; we all really want you to come back."

Song Qingjia felt bored again and turned her head to look out the window. The fields outside London stretched out in endless gray-green, a sight that made one feel depressed.

Upon arriving at the airport, Nie Yuhuai's assistant had already completed the formalities and was waiting at the security checkpoint with the boarding passes. Seeing the two approach, he handed them the boarding passes: "Sir, Ms. Song's seat has been upgraded to first class, right next to yours."

Nie Yuhuai hummed in agreement.

He turned to the girl behind him who was looking down at her phone and said, "This way."

Just as Song Qingjia finished reporting to Shen Lingyi, the other party happened to be in Shanghai and insisted on coming to the airport to pick her up.

She looked up and greeted her assistant, who waved back, flattered.

The airport was crowded at the moment, with long queues at the boarding gates, but the first-class aisle was still empty. The two of them were the last passengers to board.

The plane took off from the end of the runway and quickly disappeared into the clouds.

Once at cruising altitude, the flight attendants began to serve the distinguished first-class passengers.

Song Qingjia wiped her hands, flipped through a couple more pages of the magazine, and her eyelids gradually grew heavy. She had been packing her luggage late last night and had gotten up very early, and now waves of sleepiness were washing over her.

She tilted her head and drifted off to sleep.

Nie Yuhuai immediately noticed and caught her head, which was tilted towards the window, and pulled it towards him. Once she had her head on his shoulder, he looked up and asked the flight attendant for a blanket.

The flight attendant turned to get a blanket, and when she came back, she saw him turning to the side to adjust the girl's seat back, his movements very gentle, as if afraid of making a sound.

She handed him the blanket and couldn't help but whisper, "Sir, you're so thoughtful towards your girlfriend."

Nie Yuhuai took the blanket, unfolded it, and gently covered Song Qingjia with it.

"It's my sister," he said.

It's unclear whether he was speaking to the flight attendants or to himself.

Song Qingjia was indeed exhausted and slept almost the entire way. Nie Yuhuai, while handling his work, also paid some attention to her.

He glanced at her every now and then and noticed that her lips were a little dry, with a thin layer of skin peeling off. He put down his iPad, took out a lip balm from his pocket, twisted it open, and gently applied it to her lips.

Song Qingjia stirred, her brow furrowing slightly, but she did not wake up.

Nie Yuhuai breathed a sigh of relief, twisted the lip balm back into his pocket, and looked up to meet the gaze of the flight attendant who had just given him the blanket.

He remained calm and nodded.

The flight attendant was a little embarrassed and immediately looked away, pushing the service cart away, but she was still thinking about what had just happened.

The way that gentleman looked at that young lady didn't seem like a younger sister.
