From humble beginnings to the pinnacle of life
Chapter 51 It's Your Honor
Without saying anything more to her, I went downstairs, got on my electric tricycle, and prepared to return to the courier station.
It's almost dark now. We've spent the whole afternoon messing around with her and haven't gotten anything productive done.
Just as I was about to leave, a clear shout suddenly came from behind me.
"Hey! Wait for me!"
I turned around and saw Su Qing carrying a small bag, running quickly out of the stairwell and heading straight towards me.
I looked at him helplessly: "What's wrong now? Is there something else?"
"We've been up all afternoon, it's way past lunchtime. Aren't you hungry? Of course you need to eat," Su Qing said matter-of-factly.
I was both amused and exasperated: "Why are you calling me to eat? You can just go eat by yourself."
"Of course you're treating me!"
After she finished speaking, without waiting for my consent, she turned sideways and sat down in the empty seat next to me.
The tricycle had no back seat, and the space was cramped, so the two people were very close together, their arms and legs almost touching.
I froze on the spot, almost thinking I had misheard, and said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry:
"Are you kidding me? I spent the whole afternoon working hard for you, renting a place and installing a toilet, I'm sweating buckets, and in the end I'm supposed to treat you to a meal?"
Su Qing raised her small face, with a hint of smugness: "It's your honor, okay?"
"Go away! Get down! Go do whatever you want."
I pretended to be stern and reached out to shoo them away.
She immediately put on a playful smile and coaxed softly, "Okay, okay, I was just kidding. Why are you so petty? You can't even take a joke."
I was so angry I laughed. It turns out she was the unreasonable one, but in the end, I was the petty one.
Before I could even complain, she immediately changed her tune: "Fine, okay? I'll treat you, alright? Hurry up and drive!"
I glanced at her, my face full of suspicion: "You have the money to treat me to dinner?"
"Don't worry about all that, just drive!" she urged me impatiently.
"Then what should we eat?" I couldn't persuade her otherwise, so I had to give in.
As if she had already planned it, she said directly, "Tongzhou New Street, you know it, right?"
I nodded and started the electric tricycle.
She sat steadily beside me, gripping the armrest tightly with both hands, leaning slightly against me, behaving exceptionally well.
A gentle evening breeze blew against my face, soft and comforting.
I don't know why, but at that moment I had a strange feeling.
It was as if we weren't the boss's employees, nor were we just ordinary people who had temporarily teamed up, but rather an ordinary young couple.
After a busy day of chores, we ride the little electric car, enjoying the evening breeze, and casually discuss what to have for dinner—a simple yet heartwarming experience.
This is a scene from my dream; in reality, not many women are willing to suffer with you.
For example, my ex-girlfriend Li Meng always looked down on me.
Although Su Qing also looked down on me, she was only verbally sharp but physically honest.
Sitting on the tricycle, Su Qing was not well-behaved at all. After discovering that the tricycle was more stable than the motorcycle, she became bolder.
Just then, the car stopped at the intersection waiting for the red light.
A blinding headlight flashed from the side, and a BMW slowly pulled over to the side of the road, its window rolling down.
A well-dressed young man sat in the driver's seat, staring directly at Su Qing, and spoke with a smile:
"Hi, beautiful, let's get to know each other?"
Before he could finish speaking, Su Qing didn't even glance at him, and replied crisply, "Didn't you see there's a man next to me?"
The BMW driver glanced at me and said disdainfully, "Beautiful lady, you're so pretty and have such a great presence, you deserve a better life. Why bother sitting in this piece of junk?"
These words were a blatant mockery, implying that I was not good enough for Su Qing.
Before I could even speak, Su Qing grabbed my arm, rested her head gently on my shoulder, and turned to look at the BMW driver with a smug expression.
"I just love this simple life, so what? You're probably envious!"
I really wanted to laugh; this brat really has no sense of restraint when she's being sarcastic.
The BMW driver, his face turning ashen from the retort, realized he'd made a fool of himself, slammed on the gas, and drove off in a sorry state.
After the car drove away, Su Qing finally let go of my arm, raised her little face, and looked at me triumphantly:
"See? I'd rather ride in your beat-up tricycle than talk to someone driving a BMW. You should be happy about that!"
The words may be crude, but the reasoning is sound, and I have no way to refute them.
We drove straight ahead and soon arrived at Tongzhou New Street.
This is the new city business district, with towering buildings and bustling shops. Both sides of the street are lined with brand-new high-end stores, exuding a sophisticated urban atmosphere.
My electric tricycle looked completely out of place in this kind of place.
I found an empty spot to park the car and followed Su Qing towards the shopping district.
The further we went in, the higher the level of the stores became, and the more uneasy I felt. I couldn't help but pull her aside and ask:
"Are you kidding me? Are you sure you can afford to treat a customer to a meal at a high-end store like this? Don't end up trying to dine and dash."
"Just follow me, stop talking so much nonsense."
She muttered something to herself, then explained, "I know the restaurant owner. It's just a meal; it's free."
No wonder she was so eager to treat me to dinner, and to a place like this.
I didn't ask any more questions and silently followed her into a building, taking the direct elevator straight to the 26th floor.
The elevator doors slowly opened, and a refined and tranquil atmosphere wafted out.
This is a top-notch private restaurant with high-end and exquisite decor, soft and tranquil lighting, and an elegant and sophisticated layout.
There weren't many customers in the shop, and everyone was quiet and well-dressed.
Having spent years mingling in the streets and frequenting food stalls, I inevitably felt somewhat awkward and uncomfortable in this kind of environment.
Su Qing, however, seemed to know her way around as if she were at home. She went straight to the private booth by the floor-to-ceiling window, picked up the menu, and skillfully ordered several of the restaurant's signature dishes and specialty drinks.
I looked out the window and took in the entire night view of the new street.
The city is brightly lit and neon lights are flashing. In the distance, the buildings of Longjiang Peninsula are layered one after another.
Before long, the waiters started serving the dishes.
The dishes are exquisitely presented and have a very high visual appeal. Although the portions are not large, each dish is unique and makes people's mouths water just by looking at it.
Su Qing picked up her chopsticks, gesturing for me to start eating, and said with a smile, "Hurry up and try it. This restaurant is a Michelin-starred establishment; the food is absolutely delicious."
Although I knew what she meant, I still joked on purpose, "Michelin tires? I know them well."
Su Qing looked at me, hesitated, and finally squeezed out a sentence with resignation:
"You should eat."
To be honest, the taste is actually pretty good. It's not as bad as I imagined; in fact, you could say it's delicious.
It's not as greasy as a street food stall, and it doesn't have such a strong smell.
But each dish is unique, with its own flavor and even a story.
While we were eating, Su Qing told me, "The restaurant owner is a friend of mine. His family has been running restaurants for generations, and he created this private restaurant."
"It tastes really good."
Su Qing smiled and said, "So you should eat less greasy food in the future, it's bad for your health."
I smiled without saying a word. Everyone knows this, but who can truly do it?
For me, eating is not about savoring the food, but about filling my stomach.
Su Qing also told me a lot of stories about the restaurant owner, including how she had invested money in him when he opened the restaurant.
"So you're also a shareholder of this store?" I asked casually.
She gently shook her head: "Not really. He was short of money when he started his business, so I helped him out. It was purely to support a friend; I didn't ask for any shares. But when I eat here, the meal is always on the house, so I won't go hungry."
I was worried she wouldn't have anywhere to eat, but that's just unnecessary worrying.
This girl's connections are simply unmatched by ordinary people.
A meal that was both pleasant and reassuring.
After the meal, Su Qing raised her hand to call the waiter, casually gave her name, and prepared to sign the bill for a free meal.
But an unexpected event occurred.
