From humble beginnings to the pinnacle of life
Chapter 8 Revenge Comes So Quickly
The stationmaster's panicked voice came through the receiver clearly, and a sense of anxiety washed over me.
My brows furrowed instantly. Without a doubt, Fang Heng was holding a grudge against me for losing face at the party and was taking it out on my former employer.
"Keep the employees calm and don't get into a conflict with them. I'll be right there."
I quickly finished speaking, hung up the phone, and turned to walk downstairs.
"What happened?" Su Qing immediately asked me.
"Something went wrong at the site; it's possible Fang Heng sent people there to cause trouble."
As I spoke, I walked downstairs.
"etc!"
Su Qing caught up and said, "If it's someone Fang Heng arranged, it's too dangerous for you to go alone. I'll go with you."
"There are still many elders to attend to at the reception, so don't let it interfere with your business."
I don't want to bother her anymore. I always make her step in and cover for me, which makes me seem too useless.
"His targeting you is targeting me. Do you think I'm helping you?"
After Su Qing finished speaking, she grabbed my hand and quickly walked towards the exit of the banquet hall.
I stopped refusing and followed her quickly out of the hotel, getting into the red Mercedes and heading straight to the food delivery station.
Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of the delivery station.
From afar, you could see five or six burly men with tattoos blocking the gate, holding wooden sticks and yelling at Lin Ye to get out.
All the riders inside the station huddled in the break room, too afraid to come out. The station manager stood at the door, constantly trying to appease them, but was pushed and shoved back by the riders.
Seeing this, I was instantly furious and got out of the car.
Su Qing followed closely behind me, quickly catching up.
The lead thug with blond hair saw me, grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth, and arrogantly stepped forward:
"So you're Lin Ye? Young Master Fang gave the order: today you either have both your legs broken, or this website is dismantled—it's one of those!"
The stationmaster saw me and hurriedly stepped forward to stop me: "Xiao Lin, you're finally back! These people are not to be trifled with. What did you do to them?"
I knew exactly what was going on, and it was complicated to explain, so I could only say to him:
"It's alright, I'll handle it."
Upon hearing my voice, the blond-haired man scoffed, "Fine! Then come up with a solution that satisfies us!"
As soon as he finished speaking, several thugs behind me immediately surrounded me, blocking all my escape routes.
I calmly took out my phone, tapped to start recording a video, and said coldly:
"I recorded the entire incident. You deliberately provoked trouble, intimidated merchants, and intentionally caused harm. All the evidence has been preserved."
"Furthermore, all losses incurred today will be fully compensated by your boss, Fang Heng, including lost wages due to business interruption and equipment repair costs."
Hearing my drawing, the thugs paused, their faces showing hesitation.
The blond-haired man stubbornly maintained his composure: "Don't try to scare us with your excuses. Young Master Fang is wealthy; he won't miss out on this little bit of compensation!"
I looked at him coldly and slowly said, "No matter how wealthy a company is, it can't withstand a business dispute investigation. Now, with the added element of employee violence and provocation, I'm leading a class-action lawsuit with all the riders at the station. Do you think Fang Heng would ruin his company because of a few thugs like you?"
The blond-haired man fell silent instantly, clearly panicked, and his confidence waned considerably.
I took a step forward and continued, "Leave now. If you insist on fighting, we'll see this through to the end. Not only will you not get a single penny of Fang Heng's reward, but you'll also bear full legal responsibility."
The group looked at each other, none of them daring to make the first move.
Huang Mao gritted his teeth, took out his phone, dialed Fang Heng's number, said a few words, his face turned pale and then red, and hung up abruptly.
"Let's go!" He waved his hand reluctantly, and the group of thugs, carrying wooden sticks, slunk away in their car.
The rioting crowd completely dispersed, and the station finally returned to calm.
The stationmaster breathed a sigh of relief before looking at me and Su Qing behind me.
He walked over to me and asked in a low voice, "What happened? Who did you mess with?"
"It's not important, just go do what you're supposed to do."
The stationmaster, however, seemed a little guilty and said, "No, you make it sound so easy. What if these people come again?"
"Then call the police."
The station manager sighed, looking helpless, and said, "Ask your cousin. We called the police just now, but as soon as they left, they came back."
I looked at my cousin standing to the side, and he nodded at me, confirming what the stationmaster had said.
This is really a bit troublesome, just as I was thinking of a solution.
The station manager leaned close to my ear, glanced at the sports car behind Su Qing, and whispered:
"Lin Ye, I don't know who you've offended. Look at you getting out of such a nice car, while I'm just a wage earner, I can't afford to fight against these people!"
"So...please, have some mercy and don't work for me anymore, okay?"
Seeing the stationmaster's humble and pleading appearance, I felt a deep sense of powerlessness.
But he's right. He's just an employee and doesn't want to face these troubles every day.
But upon hearing this, Su Qing retorted, "What do you mean? Is this all the backbone a grown man has? A few thugs have made you this scared?"
The stationmaster glanced at Su Qing but didn't dare to say anything.
I won't say anything more. Things have come to this point, and I know that leaving is the only way to resolve the trouble.
I took a deep breath, nodded, and said, "Okay! Don't say anything more, I'm leaving."
The station manager visibly relaxed and said with a beaming smile, "I will still pay you your salary this month as usual, including your bonus, not a penny less."
I didn't say anything more and went back to the station to pack my belongings.
My cousin came over, frowning, and asked, "Yezi, is this the work of that rich kid you mentioned before?"
I nodded, and my cousin immediately sighed, his tone carrying a hint of compromise:
"Yezi, how about... we bow our heads, admit our mistake, and go apologize to that rich kid?"
"Rich people value their reputation most. If you back down, this matter might be over!"
Fang Heng did this simply to make me take the initiative to apologize to him.
These arrogant rich kids never truly respect the concessions of those from the lower classes.
The more you bow your head and submit, the more he will think you are weak and easily bullied, and he will only take advantage of you.
An apology is useless.
"Brother, there's no need. I can find another job, and start over if necessary."
My cousin opened his mouth, but in the end, all that was left was a helpless sigh.
I forced a relaxed smile and patted his shoulder: "Alright, stop worrying about me. I'm a grown man in my twenties, all my limbs are intact, why would I starve to death?"
My cousin couldn't persuade me otherwise, and finally softened his heart. He took out his phone and said, "I know the site owners of other sites. I'll ask if they need anyone. You can switch sites and continue working."
Not wanting to disappoint my cousin, I nodded silently.
My cousin immediately stepped aside, made a phone call, and with a smile on his face the whole time, he pleaded in a low voice for leniency.
I stood there watching this scene, and a sudden pang of guilt welled up in my heart.
When I first came to Longjiang City, I had nothing and was all alone.
My cousin took me in and gave me a place to stay.
Even the electric scooter I use to deliver food was bought for me out of his own pocket.
He was honest and upright throughout his life, always patient and tolerant, never offending anyone, and only wanted to live a peaceful life.
But because of me, they have repeatedly worried and suffered because of me.
Within minutes, my cousin's face turned ashen, and he hung up the phone in utter frustration.
"Yoko, it's over."
