In the name of the true god

Chapter 105 Making a Scene

Around nine o'clock in the morning.

After discussing things with Chairman Frost and Allen, Jude went to the restroom and splashed his face with cold water, planning to go see Melanie again despite feeling sleepy.

Right now, only Melanie can stand up without hesitation and confront the priests stationed in the prison.

As for how to counterattack in order to buy time...

It's very simple and straightforward.

She took the lead and widely publicized that both prison breaks were the work of the church.

No evidence is required.

If we can muddy the waters, stir up the emotions of the prison guards, and make things difficult for both sides, we might have a chance to delay the transfer of the forty-two implicated wizards and resonance sorcerers.

But Melanie's "daring to do it" and "whether doing it makes sense to her" are two different things.

For the time being, Jude could only think of persuading Melanie to take action by saying that "making a big fuss would force important figures to intervene in the investigation and uphold justice for the innocent prison guards."

"What if we can't convince Melanie, or muddying the waters won't buy us any more time?" Allen asked about the worst-case scenario before leaving.

"Then perhaps there really is no other way." Jude had no better ideas than this.

"Thank you for your hard work." President Frost patted Jude on the shoulder. "We've done what we were supposed to do."

"Hmm." Jude nodded, took his coat from the hanger and put it on. "Let's meet again at my house around three o'clock this afternoon."

"it is good."

"clear."

After parting ways with Chairman Frost and Allen, Jude drove back to the prison, heading straight for Melanie's office in the administration building.

"Knock knock knock".

"Enter."

"Warden Melanie." Jude entered the office and gave Melanie a polite salute.

Melanie was sitting with her legs crossed at her desk.

Upon seeing that it was Jude, she gave a light snort and asked with a hint of sarcasm, "What are you doing here?"

"I'd like to renegotiate the matter of taking revenge on the priest," Jude said, stepping forward without any hesitation and sitting down opposite Melanie.

"Revenge against the priests?" Melanie said mockingly, as if she had heard the biggest joke in the world. "Even Connor doesn't want to get involved, what are you, a mere prison guard, doing getting involved?"

"My brother is my brother, and I am me." Jude removed Connor from the list first.

Melanie's mocking expression faded slightly: "What are your thoughts?"

"Make a big fuss!" Jude revealed his plan, following his pre-conceived strategy. "Neither you nor I would be taken seriously by the priests. But if we make a big fuss and force more qualified individuals to intervene, we might be able to reopen the investigation into these two prison breaks under a legitimate pretext!"

Is this going to escalate?

To force the intervention of important figures?

Melanie's eyes lit up.

She was also planning to use some shady methods to make things difficult for the priests stationed in the prison and make them suffer.

However, compared to Jude's method, his own plan inevitably seemed somewhat "basic".

"How can we make a big fuss about this?" she asked, intrigued.

"Make it public that the priests have planned two prison breaks!" Jude said.

"I have no evidence."

"No evidence is needed, just make a big fuss!"

Melanie fell into thought.

According to her understanding, last night in the special prison building, at least dozens of armed prison guards witnessed Deputy Warden Chambers using a wind blade to "sever" the heads of hostages held by "heretic" Keanu Archer.

Deputy Warden Chambers' attempt to gloss over the issue by claiming "I intended to attack the heretics, but the harm was diverted by them" was simply unconvincing to the prison guards.

At this point, if he were to step forward and accuse Keanu Archer of being deliberately released by Deputy Warden Chambers, it would definitely provoke even stronger indignation among the prison guards.

but……

"They are, after all, priests, and they don't have any strong enough leverage against them," Melanie said, frowning. "Even if a big shot gets involved, it's unlikely they would go out of their way to cause trouble for the priests and offend the Holy Church over a few dead prison guards."

Jude sighed inwardly.

really.

Melanie may be bold, but she also possesses basic judgment and will not easily adopt her rather reckless plan.

"So what are your thoughts?" Jude asked, settling for second best and inquiring about Melanie's plans.

"I..." Melanie, having learned about His Majesty Leonard's attitude from Warden Adel, was also somewhat confused. "...We can discuss this further."

"A long-term plan?" Jude was puzzled. "The heretics will probably be transferred soon, and the priests will be transferred as well. We don't have much time left."

Melanie stated frankly, "The heretics will not be converted."

"It won't be transferred?" Jude was taken aback. "Where did you hear that?"

"Warden Adel is back; he told me that."

"Is this His Majesty Leonard's intention?" Jude knew that Warden Adel had gone to see Leonard.

"Yes."

it is good!

Very good!

Jude breathed a sigh of relief, finally able to relax.

Who would have thought that, despite their frantic efforts, the worst-case scenario didn't happen!

Leonard did not agree to the transfer, so even if the church wanted to use underhanded tactics to pressure him, it would take time to plan ahead!

As long as the transfer doesn't start immediately, the advantage lies with the wizards and resonance sorcerers!

"It's really strange." Melanie inexplicably felt less wary of Jude, so she didn't shy away from mentioning more details. "After the warden and His Majesty Leonard finished explaining the situation, His Majesty Leonard neither agreed nor rejected the church's request; he simply said he knew about it."

"What do you mean?"

"Nobody knows what His Majesty Leonard means," Melanie shrugged. "Maybe he's too busy to deal with it. Or maybe he simply doesn't respect the Church and plans to keep the heretics in prison for his own amusement."

"So, it's still possible for heretics to be transferred?" Jude listened carefully to the first part of the statement.

"Judging from His Majesty Leonard's perfunctory attitude, the relocation won't happen in the next few days." Melanie couldn't give a definite answer. "That's why I said that taking revenge on the priests requires careful planning. We still have time to devise a plan that is reliable enough to make them deeply regret what they have done."

Jude nodded thoughtfully.

If Leonard really wanted to agree to the church's request, wouldn't it be a simple matter of saying a few words?

But he did not agree, which means he still did not want the "heretics" to be transferred to the church temple.

But why didn't they refuse outright?

Could it be that they were also considering the two prison breaks that had occurred in succession, making it difficult to explain to the church?

hiss……

So, His Majesty Leonard might need a pretext to legitimately intervene in the conflict between the royalists and the clergy in prison?

After thinking it over, Jude said solemnly, "We must make a big fuss about this as soon as possible."

"Didn't I tell you? Without evidence, and with so few people daring to offend a priest, making a big fuss is pointless," Melanie reminded her.

"But what if..." Jude said slowly, "...it's His Majesty Leonard himself who comes to investigate?"
