Sherlock Holmes is not a warp god.

Chapter 103 The Black Lotus Society

Chapter 104 The Black Lotus Society (3/5)

After verifying Fren's identity, the VIP access door opened. Yuri hesitated briefly, then rushed forward and reached Fren's side under the watchful eyes of the building guards.

Yuri was confident he could take them all down, but he was there to infiltrate, not to launch a full-scale attack.

Even if a direct assault were to be launched, that would be the army's task, not the responsibility of a lone secret police officer.

Judging from this, Furen knew that Yuri wanted to follow them in.

Since Fren and Joel were colleagues, and Mycroft seemed to have a good relationship with Chief of Security Wilman, Fren simply let Yuri come in with them.

With Holmes as his guarantor, no one dared to stop them.

It wasn't until the two entered the VIP elevator that Yuri felt like he wasn't an undercover agent; things were going a little too smoothly.

"Which floor do you want to go to?" Furen pressed the 11th floor, which he wanted to go to.

Seeing this, Yuri's brows furrowed and then tightened again, before he finally said dryly, "Same."

The 11th floor is where that smuggling gang's hideout is located.

Fren understood, and then stopped talking, quietly watching the elevator run.

Yuri definitely didn't come here to buy anything. The Security Bureau's benefits are pretty good; most of the rituals and materials required for various abilities can be exchanged internally.

If there is a mission involved, it has nothing to do with Fren.

Fren is only here to buy things and will leave afterward. Yuri is probably here to gather intelligence; he won't cause any major trouble—that's basic quality of a secret police officer.

When the elevator doors opened, Furen saw a young woman in her early twenties already waiting, dressed in a style somewhat resembling a uniform fetish.

"Mr. Holmes, please come with me."

Furen glanced at the appraisal entry; this woman was no ordinary person, her extraordinary profession was already at level two.

Not only were there personal guides, but Fren and Yuri were led all the way to the VIP room.

As Sherlock Holmes, he naturally didn't need to conduct business outside, so Fren didn't touch the snacks and drinks on the table.

After a short wait, a man who appeared to be the manager entered and greeted Fren solicitously, "Mr. Holmes, Lakewater, welcome. I am Frith Orn, and I am at your service."

Lake Water Chamber of Commerce—nobody knows why the chamber of commerce uses this name.

This organization has a wide range of operations; they can get their hands on anything available on the market.

Of course, whether their chamber of commerce has items that are not available on the market is not something that ordinary people can know.

The Lake Water Chamber of Commerce naturally denies any involvement in smuggling.

For members of the Holmes family, the first-class noble family in Ostonia, it was naturally worthy of a manager's personal reception.

The reason their chamber of commerce was able to remain unscathed was largely due to their harmonious relationships with nobles and officials.

Orn knew perfectly well which nobles enjoyed being flattered and which disliked wasting time. "Mr. Holmes, what would you like to buy?"

"Five adult Stokes ants." Furen didn't mince words and stated his purpose.

The hawk moth is just an ordinary moth, but the Stoke ant, which looks like a leafcutter ant, is actually an extraordinary creature, about the size of an adult's middle finger.

Originating from the dangerous southern jungles, in places rarely visited by humans, the Stokers ant, capable of easily severing the skeletons of extraordinary creatures, is a being that no creature dares to provoke.

"The Chamber of Commerce has stock available, please wait a moment."

This was a very common ritual, and the alchemy materials were naturally in stock at the Lakewater Merchant Guild. Orn turned around and instructed the waitress beside him to fetch them, while he continued to accompany the distinguished guest.

After entering the VIP room, Yuri remained silent, calmly observing Olsen as if he were merely a bodyguard.

Just as Olsen asked Mr. Holmes if he needed anything else, Yuri suddenly bent down and whispered in Fren's ear, "Mr. Will's son is about to have his birthday."

The characters are obviously made up; Yuri mainly wanted to show that they needed to choose a birthday present.

Furen knew Yuri was using him and planned to discuss the compensation later. For now, cooperating a little wouldn't hurt.

He said to Orn, "I need to select a supernatural creature suitable for a 4-year-old child. It must have a docile personality and strict requirements for appearance."

The Lake Water Merchant Guild also has reserves of these supernatural creatures that have little practical use.

It's all for these wealthy nobles.

"plz follow me."

When Mr. Holmes mentioned making a selection, he naturally wanted to see the actual items in person. Orn led the way, taking Fren and Yuri to a lavishly decorated showroom.

Each small compartment contained water and food. There were hundreds of different kinds of extraordinary creatures.

Some of them contain various insects, while others contain reptiles. Next to the huge windows, there are also many flower pots containing plants that prefer both sunlight and shade.

These are just some of the more common items sold to the public.

Furen waved gently, indicating that Orn didn't need to follow and that he would choose at his own pace.

To Aoun's surprise, this "bodyguard" actually left his employer's side and wandered around aimlessly.

Even including the Stok ants and several extraordinary creatures, the money earned from this single deal wouldn't be enough to keep a manager running around like this.

But the title of "Sherlock Holmes" was enough to make Orn stand quietly at the door as a waiter.

As he passed the insect section, Furen saw Yuri there.

Yuri's aura remained unchanged, but the entry told Furen that Yuri was using some kind of ability.

[The Eye of Insight enhances concentration and allows one to observe many traces of the mystical. The boy's initial intention was to detect all the dangers lurking around his sister in order to protect her.]

With a skill that was not bad, Furen's gaze slowly swept over the insect section.

Furen gently put his arm around Yuri's shoulder. He could feel Yuri's body tremble slightly and then tense up.

Yuri looked over with displeasure, wondering what this man wanted to do.

"They're so cute, all white and chubby. It's a pity that child doesn't like insects; we don't need to waste time here."

Yuri followed Furen's gaze and saw several worms, each about the thickness of a forearm, nestled among a pile of damp, withered wood chips in the cubicle. They were quietly feeding, hidden deep within the wood chips.

[This creature was used by the Black Lotus Society as a reserve food for some other species. These few that came into contact with that creature were the ones that were left over. After contacting that creature, they were terrified, and some of its scent remained on their bodies.]

Fren remembered the name Black Lotus Society.

When Mycroft met Donovan at the family reunion, Donovan mentioned the name.

And there is indeed a smuggling organization with this name in the Sherlock series.

Yuri watched for a moment, and his displeasure with Fren had vanished.

His expression remained unchanged; he had seen what he wanted to see.
