Sherlock Holmes is not a warp god.

Chapter 27 The Warrior's Flame

Only those whose capabilities are confirmed to be stable and strong within the branch will be brought to the laboratory headquarters.

Over the years, there have been a total of nine experimental subjects, numbered from 001 to 009.

But there are only five children here, so Fren's workload isn't heavy. There are four rooms in total; one is a double room, and the rest are single rooms, each occupied by only one child.

Basically, each child can identify the entry after just a couple of glances.

In the only two-person room, the melon goddess Anya couldn't stay awake any longer. She covered herself with a blanket and fell asleep on the other girl's lap, drooling down her legs and leaving marks on the sheets.

The courage that sprouted from her desire to protect made her fearless of explosions that could bring death. Under the watchful eyes of the warriors, she gained a flame capable of incinerating everything, including her own body and life.

The other children's assessments were unremarkable, but Fren still saw such an exaggerated description as "burning everything" in his assessment skills.

Fren trusted his innate talent, but the description was truly terrifying.

In this world, "everything" is not just physical matter, but also includes illusory things without substance and even some vague concepts.

Fren stopped and quietly observed the two girls.

The specific abilities that can be awakened by different evil gods' blessings also vary.

For humans, the blessing of a benevolent father is naturally a flesh-and-blood ability, the blessing of a wise man is mostly related to spirit and intelligence, the blessing of a musician is an ethereal ability such as curse, blessing, cause and effect, and probability, while the blessing of a warrior is much simpler and more direct, mostly elemental that can directly bring attack power.

Even elemental abilities vary in strength, corresponding to the degree of emotional fluctuation.

Such an outrageous ability must correspond to an outrageous blessing from a warrior.

Just how extreme emotions must this girl have to awaken such a terrifying flame?

Using his analytical skills further, Frey crouched down to examine the girl's eyes.

His pupils were a dark purple, bright yet deathly still.

"You're about to die," Fren said calmly.

Under Fren's gaze, Linda did not look away, but instead raised her eyes to examine the adult who had not moved since entering the room.

Only after confirming that the man had no intention of attacking did her pounding heart gradually slow down. Linda remained vigilant, keeping her abilities ready to be activated at any moment, and finally focused her gaze on Fren's dark pupils.

She heard what Fren said and answered softly without much hesitation, "I know."

With each experiment used to test and develop capabilities, Linda felt that she was losing something.

She instinctively wanted to refuse; the managers' claims that "everything is for world peace" meant nothing to Linda.

But when the others offered to let Anya live with them and bring anything they wanted, Linda agreed.

The cozy double room, with its plush carpet to prevent Anya from slipping and falling, Anya's favorite chimera doll, and picture books that Anya can understand, all came from this.

Linda's physical changes naturally did not escape the notice of the laboratory staff who were constantly monitoring the children's physical data.

But they didn't care; before Linda died, her abilities would be "given" to others to maintain peace.

The abilities of flesh-based beings can be "inherited" through transplantation and absorption. Elemental abilities also have a similar method, allowing one to acquire the abilities of others.

According to Fren's assessment, the girl was nearing her physical limits. In a few months, her blood pressure could break through the constriction of her blood vessels, causing a stroke or aortic dissection.

"Are you planning to set off a massive fire that could burn through the entire laboratory before you die, and send this child away?" Fren pointed to Anya on Linda's lap.

A flame that can burn everything, using life and body as fuel, can indeed turn a laboratory into molten iron.

Having her thoughts exposed, Linda pondered for a moment, but instead of setting the fire immediately, she hesitated and nodded.

She was one of the first children to arrive here, which is why she was numbered 003.

During her time in this laboratory, she witnessed the increasingly weakened 001, 002, 008, and 009 being taken away.

The experimenters accumulated a wealth of experience in developing capabilities on the earlier-numbered experimental subjects, which is why the development speed of capabilities for 008 and 009 was extremely fast.

However, their bodies do not support the ability to expand rapidly, and like seedlings forced to grow too fast, they quickly die.

Linda didn't cooperate with the experiments in the early stages, which is why she lived longer. Anya, on the other hand, was able to maintain her physical health because of her abilities and mental fortitude.

Linda's abilities developed rapidly in order to help Anya, which took a heavy toll on her body.

Just as the man said, Linda wanted to rescue Anya from the iron box before she died.

When Linda occasionally went out for some fresh air, she heard that there was a huge city nearby, full of people, and Anya's abilities would definitely allow her to survive there.

"This world is not for a child as young as you to die in place of others." Furen didn't say anything about kindness, beauty, or cherishing life; he simply told the girl his own thoughts.

Aside from cultists, no one truly intends to create calamities. Having learned from past mistakes, nations strive to keep wars within reasonable limits, preventing them from affecting urban residents, precisely because they fear war will generate a large number of blessings. It's well known that emotional turmoil during war is invariably accompanied by death. The larger the scale of the war, the greater the probability of uncontrollable individuals possessing special abilities. Methods of warfare like dropping poison gas or missiles on cities are simply suicidal.

Many people may have their own ideas, but those who are willing to step onto this meat grinder must have some kind of conviction.

"Where were you back then?" The girl raised her eyes, staring intently at the man's expression. Her eyes revealed a vengeful hatred, as the painful memories hidden deep within her consciousness because of the warrior's blessing resurfaced.

"You say it's not your child's place to die for someone else, but where were you when Nunu died for me?" Linda questioned again, her voice like the roar of a wild beast.

The temperature was rising again, but Linda's aura froze after realizing that Anya might have been woken up by her, and then she quickly collapsed.

Fren said calmly, "You'll have to find the answer yourself. All I can say is that the overall tone of this world is good."

Those who break the rules, as you mentioned, are the ones who should truly be condemned.

"You can choose to die, or you can choose to join this crusade and prevent what happened to you from happening to other children."
