Sherlock Holmes is not a warp god.
Chapter 60 Dusk
Sylvia rested her chin on her hand, tilted her head, and looked at Fren with a smile.
Such rudimentary embezzlement techniques are indeed those of a child.
These publicly disclosed accounts, not being funds for secret agents' underground activities, could be channeled through Vistalis's diplomatic accounts. As a major power comparable to Ostonia, buying a small building was entirely within their means.
Since the money wasn't going to her hands anyway, Sylvia could have easily agreed to the initial price. She only talked to Fren so much because she thought "negotiating" with him would be more interesting. Besides, kids will be kids; with such a large sum of money, she was satisfied with just this little bit.
After the agreement was reached, there was a knock on the door of the negotiation room. Fren looked up and saw a man push the door open and enter. "Secretary Sherwood, a document has been faxed. Please go to office 310 to handle it."
Sylvia's expression remained unchanged, but her heart suddenly tightened. 310 was the internal code for Western agents, indicating an emergency.
"Okay, I'll be right there." Sylvia stood up. "Has Ambassador Caesar arrived yet?"
"Ambassador Caesar is on his way. Please have some of the counselors, first secretaries, and second secretaries go to the conference room first."
Right in front of Furen, the two exchanged a few words. Furen felt something was off; while they were talking, he sensed some unusual frequencies using his newly learned [Mental Perception].
It's somewhat similar to sound waves, but this shapeless thing is completely beyond the clear detection of Fren's current level of mental perception.
Furen pondered that this must be a way for agents to communicate.
Just like in the comics, when Sylvia and Twilight exchange information, the sounds and lip movements they make are two different languages. By analyzing their lip movements, they can conduct confidential communication.
In the extraordinary world, however, such trouble is obviously unnecessary. The two can use their mental power to exchange information at a higher level of security.
Looking at the man before him, Fren knew this wasn't his true face. The last time he'd seen such a flawless disguise was when Olos disguised himself as a meter reader at a Holmes family gathering.
[If you'd seen his true face, you'd know that omnipotence is written all over it. Alchemy, combat, firearms, magic, healing, support—he possesses corresponding abilities in numerous fields, holds more than ten extraordinary professions, and is blessed by four gods. His will is extremely firm, the risk of him going astray is extremely low, and his future is limitless.]
This was the first time that Fren had seen the Heavenly Eye give such a simple and direct assessment of "a promising future".
And what exactly constitutes a double-digit extraordinary profession?
Blessings from the four gods?
Furen is currently hovering on the edge of becoming a superhuman chef, waiting for the opportunity to learn the abilities of fire and cutting.
The double-digit number indicates that the man before him possesses at least ten extraordinary professions, and all of them must be of a high level. Aside from his innate abilities, he likely has acquired at least dozens of spiritual seals through learning.
For Fren to see such a description here, something must have gone mad.
Furen naturally didn't think the Heavenly Eye could be wrong, so it could only mean that the Western Kingdom had gone mad.
Why not nurture a genius of this caliber, provide him with resources, and let him develop quietly, instead of sending him to Dongguo as an undercover agent?
How is this any different from Qian Xuesen being sent to be a spy when he was young?
Fren deeply doubted whether the Western leadership was thinking rationally.
Of course, it is more likely that the higher-ups in the Western Kingdom of Vistalis were unaware that their agents possessed such talent.
"Scribe Sherwood, I have achieved my purpose for this trip, so I will not disturb you any longer." After listening to Sylvia and this man exchange a few words, both openly and secretly, Fren tactfully got up and took his leave.
Sylvia looked apologetic. "I'm very sorry, Mr. Holmes. I'll bring a small gift as an apology next time we meet."
"You're too kind." Fren stood up, took the documents, nodded slightly, and then went out to the elevator.
After Fren left, the door closed automatically, and the atmosphere inside the house changed abruptly.
Without outsiders, there's no need to use special methods of communication with mental energy.
Sylvia's demeanor suddenly turned aloof. Her outfit and appearance were completely different from just a few seconds ago. Even Fren would wonder if she was a twin or something.
The slender, powerful legs of the abstinent beauty rested on the table. Sylvia Sherwood, now an officer in charge of the Western Intelligence Department, calmly asked, "Agent Twilight, what exactly is the situation?"
"Last week, as soon as we received the news, we dispatched personnel to deal with some of the laboratories, but we were only able to apprehend a portion of the people. The rest had already been evacuated beforehand."
"The investigation into these laboratories has concluded, and all important data was destroyed beforehand." The man spoke calmly to the administrator, "The laboratory outside Berlin, in the Eastern Kingdom, was the first to have its headquarters discovered. The Secretary General has sent a secret order instructing us to find a way to obtain some internal data from the Eastern Kingdom."
"There's a mole." Sylvia closed her eyes and pondered for a moment, then said calmly, "The problem with the lab was reported by an undercover agent within the Eastern military."
When our country dispatched superhumans to attack the Western country's laboratory, many high-ranking officials in the Eastern country were still unaware of what had happened at the Eastern country's laboratory.
The speed of the evacuation from the Western laboratory, coupled with time to destroy data, strongly suggests that someone leaked information to the laboratory personnel during the communication process.
"The Secretary-General has already thought of this and is having mental ability users investigate everyone who has firsthand information." Dusk nodded, walked to the window, and quietly looked at the car parked outside the embassy. "We must find a way to obtain this intelligence."
In some unknown corner of the world, there must be children still being imprisoned and subjected to experiments.
"Send a message back first, have someone go find those scientists in our country. They might know something." Sylvia sighed. "These scientists, like Professor Olsen of the East, experienced the early days of the two countries' founding. They are ruthless and retain a simple will. Few of them are corrupted by interests. They will cooperate with us."
Professor Orson physically destroyed most of the data in the lab for the sake of those children, and I don't know what useful information could be found.
"The Secretary General said to just do your best." Dusk saw Furen's back and quietly observed him from behind the window, a habit of secret agents. "What we find out is not important; what's more important is that we must eradicate him completely."
