My Dongguan Love Story

Chapter 132 Dazhuang, will you be my boyfriend?

Lin Guilian was utterly terrified.

She had been happily delivering dinner to Dazhuang that evening, but no one expected to witness this scene. The sudden turn of events threw her into a panic, and even her instinctive avoidance of the other person's aggression vanished. She froze on the spot, completely unsure whether to dodge or retreat.

Terrified, she squeezed her eyes shut and, in her panic, raised only her hands, instinctively and haphazardly trying to block the incoming blade.

Her posture was completely erratic; if the blade were to actually fall, she would likely lose both of her arms instantly.

Seeing this, I quickly reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her towards me to avoid the other person's blade. If I had been a few seconds later, there would have been bloodshed.

Lin Guilian was still in a panic when I pulled her into my arms. She looked up, still shaken, and when she saw it was me, her tense body relaxed instantly, and her heart, which had been pounding in her chest, slowly settled down.

She had just breathed a sigh of relief, her tense body relaxing slightly as she leaned against me to calm her flustered emotions. But then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of movement behind her, and her pupils contracted sharply. Li Jianzhong's eyes gleamed with malice, his face sinister, and he swiftly thrust a sharp fruit knife straight at Dazhuang's back.

In that critical moment, Lin Guilian didn't have time to think about anything. She instinctively broke free from my embrace and resolutely stepped aside to shield me.

The cold blade plunged into her soft abdomen without any resistance, and bright red blood gushed out, instantly staining her abdomen crimson.

The sudden, sharp pain made her tremble, her body stiffening instantly. A suppressed, weak groan escaped her throat, and the color drained from her pale cheeks, turning them ashen white.

Li Jianzhong froze as he watched the fruit knife plunge into Lin Guilian's abdomen.

He usually only did petty theft; he would never dare to hurt or kill anyone. Now, as blood slowly seeped from the blade, a strong sense of fear washed over him. His eyes instantly lost their light, and all color drained from his face.

He dared not look again, hastily drew his knife, and scrambled to his feet to escape. His accomplices, seeing this, were also terrified and dared not linger, turning and fleeing in all directions, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

I heard Lin Guilian groan, and when I turned around, I saw that Lin Guilian had been stabbed. The clothes around the fruit knife were covered in bloodstains, which were still spreading outwards, staining her clothes red.

My heart sank suddenly, and a chill ran through me. I hurriedly reached out and pulled the limp Lin Guilian into my arms.

Blood quickly soaked through her clothes, warm and sticky, rubbing against my hands. My pupils contracted sharply, and I looked down anxiously at her pale face, my voice trembling: "Gui Lian, hold on, don't fall asleep, I'll take you to the hospital right now!"

My mind went blank. I didn't dare to delay for even a moment. I carefully laid the weak and powerless Lin Guilian on the ground, moving very gently, for fear of aggravating her injuries.

My palms were covered in warm, glaring blood, and my fingertips trembled uncontrollably. I immediately pulled out my phone, my fingers frantically pressing buttons to dial an ambulance, my voice urgent and panicked as I screamed into the phone:

"Hurry to the Dingsheng factory area! Someone has been seriously stabbed in the abdomen. Please come as soon as possible!"

Lin Guilian clutched her stomach, her fair hand stained crimson with blood. She felt weak and listless, and though she tried to raise her hand, she was slow to react. I didn't know what she was trying to do, so I reached out and grasped her small, bright red hand.

Lin Guilian's lips were pale, but she smiled and glanced at me: "Dazhuang, of all these women, only I love you the most."

Hearing her barely audible words, my heart skipped a beat, and my throat felt like it was blocked by something. A thousand words were stuck in my chest, and for a moment I didn't know what to say.

Looking at Lin Guilian, who was barely breathing and had a pale face, I felt a huge surge of emotions.

Before this, I always thought that Lin Guilian's usual closeness was just a temporary affection, and I never truly felt the deep feelings hidden in her heart.

Only now do I fully understand that the profound sentiment of someone risking everything, using their own flesh and blood to shield me from a fatal blow, could not be mere liking. No one would gamble their life without deep love.

Hearing her intermittent, faint breaths, my Adam's apple bobbed, and I nodded repeatedly, flustered yet solemn, my voice hoarse and trembling:

"Gui Lian, I know, I know everything. You have to hold on."

In my more than twenty years of life, I have never faced such a bloody, life-or-death scene. Fear, lingering fear, and guilt intertwined and clung tightly to my heart, leaving me restless and anxious.

I prayed frantically in my heart, begging God to protect her and keep her safe.

Seeing my anxious look, Lin Guilian laughed. Her eyes were full of tenderness as she looked at me: "Dazhuang, this is the first time you've ever cared about me this much."

She herself couldn't really explain why she cared so much about Dazhuang's safety, or why she liked him so much without reservation.

Was it the old affection from when Dazhuang repeatedly helped and protected her? Or was it the heroic figure of him shielding her from the blade in that critical moment that touched the softest spot in her heart?

She couldn't really explain why; she only knew that she truly loved Dazhuang.

In the heat of the moment, she rushed forward to shield him from the knife; it was a choice etched into her very being. At that instant, she didn't have time to think about anything else—she didn't consider how much pain her wound would cause, or whether she herself would be in danger. Her mind was completely focused on preventing Dazhuang from getting hurt.

The intense pain in her abdomen made her feel her strength being drained away little by little, and her life force slowly flowing away with the warm blood.

A strong sense of panic gripped her, her mind went blank, and a chilling feeling of impending death spread through her body. She vaguely felt that she was about to collapse and die.

I'm only in my early twenties, I haven't lived enough yet. I haven't won over Dazhuang yet, and I haven't had the chance to triumphantly kick Tang Yan aside.

She looked at Dazhuang with deep affection, parted her pale lips, and said to him, "Dazhuang, can you promise me something?"

I held Lin Guilian in my arms, watching the blood continuously seeping from her stomach, my hands trembling slightly. Afraid something might happen to her, upon hearing her words, I nodded repeatedly without thinking, "Tell me, I'll agree to a hundred things, not just one."

Lin Guilian laughed when she heard my words, a pale and weak laugh. She looked at me and said in a somewhat serious tone, "Will you be my boyfriend?"

If she were really going to die here today, she didn't want to leave with regrets. Originally, she wanted to ask Tang Yan if breaking up with her was a good idea. But then she thought that if she were gone, Tang Yan would be by Da Zhuang's side, and he wouldn't be too lonely and sad in the future. In the end, she swallowed those words back.

I listened to her faint murmurs, and suddenly froze. I never imagined that, even at this critical moment, her thoughts were still on this matter.

Looking at the hesitation in my eyes, Lin Guilian forced a bitter smile, her gaze empty and lifeless as she stared at me, her breath weak and low: "Dazhuang, can't you grant my wish?"

My heart tightened, and I dared not hesitate any longer. I was afraid that my words would upset her, who was already on the verge of death, and even more afraid that she might not make it through the night, as this would be her last wish.

I took a deep breath and solemnly nodded slowly to her: "Okay, I promise you."

Upon hearing my words, Lin Guilian smiled slightly, looked at me affectionately for a moment, and then said, "Then call me 'wife'."

"Huh?" I was taken aback.

"Scream!" Lin Guilian shouted forcefully. As she strained, her stomach suddenly ached, making her wince in pain.

I dared not hesitate for even a moment longer and upset her. I nodded heavily, my eyes fixed on her with anxiety and heartache. My voice was very soft, with a slight tremor, as I whispered, "Wife."

Lin Guilian's already unfocused eyes suddenly brightened for a moment, and a relieved smile spread across her weak face as she softly replied, "Yes, husband."

With her last ounce of strength, she struggled to tilt her head back slightly, her lips pale and cracked, pouting gently, a faint hope in her eyes, as she murmured in a barely audible voice, "Husband, kiss me."

Looking at her weak, pale, and hopeful appearance, I slowly leaned down and gently and solemnly kissed her dry, cold lips.

After a brief kiss, I straightened up, gently stroking her slightly cool cheek with my fingertips, my voice choked with barely concealed sobs and pleading: "Gui Lian, listen to me, you must hold on, nothing can happen."

Hearing my words, Lin Guilian shook her head. Under my questioning gaze, she solemnly said, "Don't call me Guilian, call me wife. Say what you just said again."

I was taken aback by her words, and thinking that there was no point in arguing with her at a time like this, I went along with her and said, "Honey, you have to hold on, nothing can happen to you."

When Lin Guilian heard me call her "wife," a smile finally appeared on her face, and she nodded solemnly: "Don't worry, husband, I finally managed to win you over, I won't die so easily."

Before she could finish speaking, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, drooping down incessantly, until she barely had the strength to keep looking at me.

Her breath grew weaker and weaker, her voice as light as a breeze: "I just... I feel so sleepy, my eyelids are drooping, I want to sleep for a while."

Upon hearing this, my heart clenched with fear. I quickly gripped her cold hand, my eyes filled with panic and urgency as I stared at her: "Gui Lian, wife, please don't sleep, please don't close your eyes!"

When Lin Guilian heard me address her as "wife," a faint joy welled up inside her. Her unfocused eyes widened slightly, and her breath remained light as she softly asked, "Then tell me... what will our life be like from now on?"

I was momentarily speechless at her question, my throat tightened, and my mind raced. But I dared not pause for even a second; I could only suppress my panic and, to keep her awake and prevent her from falling asleep, hastily make up a story, speaking as gently and confidently as possible:

"From now on, we will live a peaceful and stable life, have another healthy and chubby baby boy, and the three of us will live a lively, happy and fulfilling life."

As Lin Guilian listened to my description of the future, a soft longing flickered in her unfocused gaze. She stared at me intently, her breath weak, murmuring to herself:

"Really...we'll have children...and live a peaceful life...but...but I feel like I can't take it anymore..."

As Lin Guilian listened, her gaze softened, but her eyelids still drooped uncontrollably, growing heavier and heavier, and her vision gradually blurred. She seemed to have reached her limit and was about to close her eyes completely.
