My Dongguan Love Story

Chapter 133 She Really Loves You

As I watched her slowly close her eyes, my heart tightened, and I panicked. I immediately reached out and shook her body vigorously, calling out in a low, urgent voice, "Gui Lian, Gui Lian, don't sleep, please don't sleep!"

Perhaps my call reached her ears, or perhaps she heard me call out "Gui Lian" instead of the "wife" she had been expecting. Her eyelids trembled slightly, as if she were using the last of her strength to slowly open them.

Her eyes drooped heavily, half-open, her chest rising and falling weakly, her breathing intermittent and so faint it was almost imperceptible. After a long while, she mustered her last bit of strength and softly corrected me, "Call me wife."

I was taken aback when I heard this, and a pang of sadness welled up in my heart. Even at this crucial moment, she was still fixated on how I addressed her.

But as long as she was still awake, I was already very fortunate, so how could I dare to argue with her?

He nodded immediately, his voice trembling slightly, "Okay, okay, call me wife, wife. As long as you don't close your eyes, I'll call you a hundred times, a thousand times."

As I spoke, my eyes instantly welled up with tears, and I could only grit my teeth and forcefully hold them back.

Upon hearing this, Lin Guilian forced a smile, her lips curving upwards with difficulty. Though her gaze remained weak, it was fixed intently on my face as she asked in a breathy, earnest voice, "Really?"

"Okay." I nodded solemnly, and said with lingering fear, "Don't close your eyes."

At this critical moment, I couldn't think of anything else. I only had one thought in my mind: to make sure Lin Guilian held on and didn't close her eyes until the ambulance arrived.

My heart was pounding with anxiety: I'd made the call ages ago, why hadn't the ambulance arrived yet? This industrial park isn't far from any nearby hospital.

I was anxiously waiting for my turn when the urgent siren of an ambulance suddenly approached. My face instantly lit up with joy, and I quickly looked down at the weak-breathing Lin Guilian, my voice filled with the urgent relief of someone who had just escaped death:

"Gui Lian, wife, hang in there a little longer, the ambulance will be here soon!"

Upon hearing my words, Lin Guilian tilted her head slightly, her eyes filled with a faint hope as she looked in the direction from which the horn sounded.

If she could live a good life, how could she be willing to leave like this?

What's more, Da Zhuang, whom she had been longing for, had finally agreed to marry her. She had gone to so much trouble to win him over, yet they hadn't even had a single day of happiness together, let alone truly stayed together. How could she leave this world at this time?

Lin Guilian gripped my hand tightly with her weak right hand, her eyes filled with expectation as she gazed at me, using her last bit of strength to hold on and refusing to close her eyes.

The ambulance had just arrived at the park entrance, its horn blaring urgently. The security guard at the gate looked up in confusion, his gaze meeting the ambulance driver's. The driver immediately urged, "Open the gate!"

"Huh?" The security guard was taken aback, never expecting that the ambulance would head straight for the Dingsheng factory area.

There were only four security guards left on duty at the factory, and they really couldn't figure out what had happened. Although they were full of questions, the ambulance kept honking its horn to urge them on, and they didn't have time to think about it. They could only quickly raise their hands and open the gate.

Security guards receive specialized training before starting their jobs and are well aware of the rules: emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks must be allowed to pass immediately upon arrival, regardless of the reason.

If someone were to die because of his delay in treatment, he simply couldn't bear the consequences.

Li Jie was in the security guard's duty room when he heard an ambulance siren outside. He peeked out, puzzled. Seeing the ambulance drive straight in, he was filled with further confusion.

"Why is an ambulance here?"

He immediately stood up and went to greet the approaching ambulance, asking, "What happened?"

The driver leaned out, looking extremely anxious, and spoke rapidly: "Someone called to say someone has been stabbed in the abdomen. Where is the injured person?"

Li Jie was completely bewildered by his words. He didn't know what was going on. Suddenly, he remembered that Da Zhuang hadn't returned from patrol. Could something have happened to Da Zhuang?

He took out his phone to call Dazhuang and ask what was wrong, but found several missed calls from Dazhuang. Seeing that his phone was on silent, he was momentarily stunned. He then quickly drove the ambulance towards the factory.

As the ambulance slowly drove into the factory area, two bright headlights pierced the dark night, spreading straight forward and tearing a blinding light across the dark and empty factory roads.

A moment later, the light shone directly on Lin Guilian and me.

Li Jie followed me in from the passenger seat of the ambulance. He immediately saw Lin Guilian in my arms, her clothes soaked in blood, a fruit knife plunged straight into her abdomen. He turned pale with fright, hurriedly pushed open the car door, jumped out, and ran quickly towards me, his voice trembling.

"Dazhuang, what happened? What's wrong with this pretty girl?"

Having worked as a security guard for so long, he had never seen such a bloody scene before. He was so frightened that he was at a loss and his face was full of anxiety.

I watched as the medical staff quickly stepped forward and carefully lifted Lin Guilian onto the stretcher, and my tense heart relaxed slightly. Turning to look at Li Jie, whose face was deathly pale, I spoke in a hoarse voice:

"It was Li Jianzhong who colluded with outsiders to steal things from the factory. After I caught him, he pulled out a dagger and tried to stab me, but Guilian rushed up and took the blow for me."

As I spoke, I hurried toward the ambulance. Before getting in, I turned back and solemnly reminded Li Jie:

"I'll go to the hospital with Guilian. You stay here and wait for the police to come. Make sure they don't get away."

Catching Li Jianzhong was of utmost importance, but I was truly worried about Lin Guilian, who was all alone and helpless in Dongguan. I feared something might happen to her, so I had to stay by her side. Therefore, I had to have Li Jie and the other police officers come to take her statement and arrest Li Jianzhong.

After hearing this, Li Jie's anxious expression turned serious, and a firm look appeared in his eyes. He nodded emphatically: "Okay, take her to the hospital right away. Leave this to me, I'll handle it."

"Um."

I bent down and got into the ambulance, quickly walked to Lin Guilian's side, held her cold hand tightly, looked at her weak and pale face, and whispered to comfort her again and again: "Guilian, hang in there, we'll be at the hospital soon."

The doctor had already inserted an IV needle into Lin Guilian's body, and the medicine was slowly being administered. Her complexion improved slightly.

But when she heard me still calling her Guilian, a hint of grievance immediately welled up in her eyes, and she stubbornly said in a breathy voice, "Call me wife, you have to call me wife from now on, understand?"

At that moment, I dared not disobey her, and hurriedly nodded, "I know, I know."

"Then say it now."

I paused for a moment, then called out softly, "Um, wife."

The nurse beside her quickly treated and bandaged her wound. Looking at Lin Guilian, whose eyes were glued to me the whole time, she looked at me with a hint of envy and sighed softly, "Your wife truly loves you. She's willing to risk her life for you. You must never let her down."
