After dinner, Lin Guilian kept urging me to take a shower. Seeing how anxious she was, I wondered what was going on. I looked down and smelled my clothes; I had only sweated a little, and they didn't smell bad.

I tiptoed out of the room and lit a cigarette by the window in the hallway. The hallway was deserted at night, and Shufen wasn't there either; she'd probably gone downstairs for a stroll. I was staring blankly at the sparse pedestrians below when someone gently tapped my shoulder.

I turned around and saw Chen Siyao staring at me with her big, bright eyes. I exhaled a puff of smoke and asked, puzzled, "Why did you come upstairs?"

Upon smelling the smoke, Chen Siyao couldn't help but cough twice and wave her hand in front of her nose to disperse the smoke.

As soon as the skewers were served, Chen Siqi was overjoyed and ate the lamb skewers with great relish. Seeing the two sisters enjoying their meal so much warmed my heart as well.
