Shen Ye thought that Chu Cihan was just throwing a tantrum and that once his emotions calmed down, he would soon return to his usual self and start talking to him again.

To his surprise, from the awkwardness in class in the morning until the last class before school ended, for most of the afternoon, the aloof and proud girl behind him kept her lips pursed and sat quietly in her seat, without saying a word to him from beginning to end.

Her gaze always seemed to avoid him, and she exuded a melancholy and awkward aura, making Shen Ye's heart flutter with unease.

At exactly four o'clock in the afternoon, the clear and melodious school bell rang throughout the entire school building.

The campus, which had been quiet all day, instantly came alive, with children's laughter filling the corridors and classrooms. Students in the classrooms quickly packed their bags and, like birds breaking free from their cages, rushed towards the school gate.

Shen Ye took a deep breath, tidied up the textbooks, workbooks, and scattered stationery in the desk drawer, and slung the heavy backpack over his shoulder.

This was his last day here. He subconsciously slowed down and took one last look around the classroom he had spent so many years in, a faint trace of reluctance flashing in his eyes.

He stopped what he was doing when his gaze swept to the back row of the classroom.

Chu Cihan remained seated and did not leave with the crowd.

She lowered her head slightly, her slender fingers slowly and methodically arranging the books, her movements so slow it was almost unbelievable, it was clear that her mind wasn't on tidying up at all.

Noticing Shen Ye's gaze, Chu Cihan raised her eyes, and their gazes briefly met in the air. In just a second, the girl seemed flustered, quickly turning her head away, pretending to focus on tidying the table, deliberately avoiding eye contact.

"I'm leaving," Shen Ye said softly, bidding farewell in a calm tone.

His response was still silence.

Seeing that the other person remained silent, Shen Ye didn't linger any longer. He picked up his schoolbag, turned around, and walked towards the classroom door, intending to leave.

Just as he was about to step out of the classroom, a voice, tinged with haste and hesitation, suddenly rang out from behind him: "Wait a minute!"

Shen Ye paused, immediately turning around with a look of confusion in his eyes: "What's wrong?"

Chu Cihan gripped the strap of his backpack tightly, his cheeks flushed slightly, and his brows were filled with struggle and anxiety.

She hesitated for a long time, her lips opening and closing repeatedly, before finally mustering the courage to utter a single sentence: "You...you come with me for a moment."

Without waiting for Shen Ye's reply, she turned around and walked out of the classroom first.

"Where are we going?" Seeing this, Shen Ye could only quickly follow, his mind filled with confusion.

"Just follow me." Chu Cihan didn't turn around, but her pace quickened until it almost became a jog, her slender figure weaving through the corridor.

The two walked out of the teaching building one after the other, and continued walking along the smooth school path. Along the way, they avoided many students leaving school in groups. After walking for only a few minutes, they finally stopped in an open space.

Shen Ye looked around and recognized the place. The open space was divided into neat little areas, with lush green seedlings planted in the soil, and surrounded by low fences. It was a garden specially set up by the school for students to have practical labor classes.

People usually loosen the soil, water the plants, and take care of the seedlings here, making it a particularly special corner on campus.

There were no other students in the garden at this moment, and it was quiet all around, with only the rustling sound of the wind blowing through the vegetable leaves.

"Why did you bring me here?" Shen Ye stopped and stared intently at Chu Cihan's back, his voice filled with anxiety.

Uncle Lin Jianye was still waiting for me at the school gate; it wouldn't be right to delay too long.

The moment he finished speaking, Chu Cihan turned around abruptly to face Shen Ye directly.

Shen Ye's gaze clearly captured the girl's appearance at that moment.

Her usually indifferent and aloof brows were now furrowed, a noticeable red tinge appeared at the corners of her eyes, and crystal-clear tears swirled in her eyes as if they were about to roll off at any moment.

The emotions that had been suppressed all day finally burst forth at this moment.

Large tears streamed down her fair cheeks, her usual aloof and defiant demeanor completely gone.

Chu Cihan could no longer hold on. She quickly stepped forward and pounced on Shen Ye, her two slender hands gripping his shirt tightly with such force that it was as if she was afraid he would disappear into thin air.

The sudden collision caught Shen Ye completely off guard, causing him to lose his balance and stumble backward.

Fortunately, the ground in this work area was covered with a thick, soft lawn. He fell heavily onto the grass but was not injured. He was just caught off guard by the sudden situation.

"What are you doing?!" Shen Ye asked, both surprised and helpless.

"Why did you insist on transferring schools? What's wrong with this place?!" Chu Cihan asked loudly, her head bowed and her hands still tightly gripping his collar, her voice choked with sobs.

Tears mingled with glistening snot, streaming down her delicate chin and forming streaks on her cheeks.

Shen Ye watched in horror as the wet "crystal pendant" swayed precariously, about to drip onto his face.

"Get up first, then we can talk!"

"I'm not getting up! You have to give me a reason!" Chu Cihan sniffed her red nose, clinging tightly to him, refusing to let go no matter what.

No!

Shen Ye inwardly groaned.

But that doesn't stop anything.

The warm, sticky liquid eventually landed on his cheek, and a strange sensation instantly spread.

His face was ashen, and he completely gave up struggling, lying motionless on the lawn.

At this moment, Chu Cihan was completely immersed in his own emotions and did not notice the embarrassment of the boy beneath him. He murmured to himself, full of unease and self-blame: "Is it because I usually have a bad temper and always mock you that you want to leave here and are deliberately avoiding me?"

As she spoke, her voice grew increasingly hoarse, filled with remorse: "I'm sorry, Shen Ye, I apologize. I shouldn't have used such harsh words to belittle you every day. Actually, I was the one who was the weakling."

For the first time in a long time, the proud girl humbled herself, bowing her head earnestly to admit her mistake, tears still streaming down her face: "I promise I'll change my bad temper and never talk nonsense again. Can you please not leave? Stay and attend class with us, and be my friend, okay...?"

She buried her head deep in Shen Ye's arms, her suppressed sobs coming out intermittently, the warm, damp air seeping through the thin fabric of her clothes.
