Magical Cat
Chapter 39 The Thief
After tasting the bitter ginseng herbal tea, Li En began to look around the bar.
They were sitting near the entrance, giving them a clear view of the entire bar.
The bar is very spacious, with a very large bar counter at the back, behind which various drinks are displayed.
There are rugged large barrels and exquisite crystal bottles, each with a distinct style.
Judging by its size alone, this bar must be quite famous in Falling Star City.
They didn't wait long before a waiter led an elegant old gentleman to them.
"Greetings, magicians."
"I am the owner here, Sir Blue."
The elderly man, who called himself Sir Blue, had a head of silver hair that was meticulously groomed, and his attire was also very sophisticated, clearly indicating that he was a man of considerable taste.
One look at his demeanor and you know he's no ordinary person. No wonder he owns such a large bar and can even get people from the Royal Magic Academy to help him.
Melina and her students greeted each other politely.
After exchanging pleasantries, Melina got straight to the point.
"Mr. Blue, the academy has already explained the bar issue to me. I will handle this matter with my students, and it will also be a special lesson for them. I hope you don't mind."
Sir Blue laughed and waved his hand, saying, "It's already an honor for me to have magicians come to help."
After confirming that Sir Blue didn't mind, Melina asked the bar staff to leave first.
At this time of day, the bar is just cleaning up and preparing for its evening opening; there's nothing urgent going on.
This is why Melina chose this time to come here.
Sir Blue readily agreed, but also made a request: he wanted to see how Melina and the others caught the thief.
Melina agreed, allowing Sir Blue to observe, but also requiring him to stay close behind her at all times and not stray too far.
These words made Elaine and the others tense; it was clear that the process of catching the thief was risky.
That makes sense. If there really were a thief here, he certainly wouldn't surrender willingly once he's caught.
Li En also looked around curiously.
Melina dismissed all the staff at the bar, meaning she believed the thief wasn't among them.
Judging from Melina's appearance, she should have already identified the thief.
But Li En couldn't tell that there were other people in the bar.
"Could it be hidden somewhere else in the bar?"
Li En observed carefully, trying to find some clues.
This bar looks unusual; anyone who dares to steal silverware in a place like this must be no ordinary thief.
Melina led everyone to the central area on the first floor of the bar.
Besides the large bar counter, the first floor of the bar was filled with many large tables.
Looking around, it can easily accommodate nearly a hundred people at a time.
Melina looked around first, then reached behind her and pulled out several palm-sized wooden boxes.
Li En's eyes widened, and he craned his neck to look behind Melina.
"No, where did you pull these out from? It can't be...?"
Elaine noticed Li En's agitation, grabbed him, and whispered in his ear, "It's a pouch, a kind of magical item. Don't make a fuss."
Li En still wanted to see what the package looked like, his eyes darting around, but he couldn't see it at all.
Melina naturally noticed Li En's movements, but she just smiled slightly and instructed the students, "Each of you take one and stand in your respective corners."
As she spoke, she pointed a few times.
Elaine and the others immediately followed the instructions, took the wooden boxes, and stood in their designated positions.
Sir Blue watched with great interest.
Once everyone was in place, Melina took out a scroll and loudly instructed, "Remember, the teacher will use the scroll to make the thief visible. When the thief appears, throw the wooden boxes you're holding at his feet, understand?"
"Understood, teacher!" everyone answered in unison.
Although Elaine and the others did not understand what they were going to do, none of them questioned Melina because of their trust in her.
"Revealed? Is this thief invisible?"
Before Li En could figure it out, Melina had already opened the reel.
A purple light flashed within the scroll, disappearing in an instant.
But as the purple light dissipated, something remained in the air, displaying an extremely blurry outline.
Li En felt a sudden surge of magical energy in the air beside him, and the sensation of his magic perception skill was amplified.
"Elena, to the right!"
Li En quickly used his demonic power to remind him.
Elaine turned her head and saw that the blurry shadow in the air was becoming more and more solid, looking like a balloon about half the height of a person.
Once she saw her target clearly, she didn't think twice and immediately threw the wooden box in her hand at the feet of the shadow, just as Teacher Melina had instructed.
After the wooden box landed, it seemed to be stimulated by something and exploded with a bang, revealing the device inside.
A blue crystal, about the size of a thumb, was fixed to a spring mechanism.
As the wooden box exploded, the blue crystal was also pushed up, and a flash of light shot out a stream of water that tightly bound the shadow.
At this moment, the true face of that shadow was fully revealed.
It was a round, semi-transparent monster with a faint blue-purple aura flowing around its body, and two small, glowing holes on its head, which must have been its eyes.
"What is this thing?"
Li En looked confused and tilted his head to examine it.
He could sense that with the appearance of this monster, the surrounding magical aura had become much denser.
"Is this the thief who stole the silverware?"
There wasn't just one monster that suddenly appeared.
The monster that appeared next to Elaine was immediately brought under control.
But others didn't react as quickly.
Safina and the others were startled at first, then remembered Melina's instructions and threw out the wooden box in their hands.
Safina remained calm and collected. When she saw the monster appear and approach her, she took a few steps back and threw the wooden box at it.
The wooden box exploded immediately upon hitting the monster, and a stream of water then tightly bound it.
Next up was Sojaen, who was quick to act and successfully brought the monster under control.
However, Webber made a mistake. When the monster appeared and pounced on him, he hurriedly threw the wooden box to his feet.
As a result, because the distance was too close, the water flowing out of the wooden box affected him. When he was pushed away, he hit several chairs and made quite a noise.
Regardless, Weber did manage to control the monster.
But things got really fun when we got to Barbara.
Upon seeing the monster, she screamed in terror, flinging the wooden box she was holding and throwing it behind the bar.
After the collision, the wooden box also exploded, releasing water.
But the water flow couldn't control the monster at all; instead, it spilled the drinks behind the bar all over the floor.
The barrel shattered, the bottle broke, and wine spilled all over the ground.
This scene made Sir Blue's eye twitch and his brain tremble.
But that's not the most important thing.
The main problem was that the monster wasn't under control and was chasing Barbara around.
This monster has no feet and moves by using ropes that touch the ground. Its speed is not very fast, at most the speed of an ordinary person walking briskly.
Barbara was already terrified and panicked, howling like a wild boar as she led her men in a chaotic escape.
Wherever they went, they left a trail of destruction.
