My Magical Card Tavern

Chapter 22: Your Ancestor Sent Me to Beat You Up

Ginnell felt like she had blacked out.

After the second half of the business hours ended, he squinted as he got up from the mattress, his eyes filled with a strange sense of bewilderment.

I feel like I'm old enough to start thinking about philosophical questions like "Who am I?" and "Where am I?"

Luke is truly ruthless when training people, and Genele now completely believes that Luke beats his juniors to death on the altar.

This is probably not an exaggeration; it's more likely a realistic depiction.

Gianna felt like he had a blackout, because during the second half of the session, Luke was training him diligently with a beer in one hand and a sword in the other.

In Luke's words, if Ginnell doesn't have a proper understanding of melee classes, then even if he has cards, he won't be able to fully unleash their power.

Bad news, I feel a bit disoriented.

Good news: at least now Luke can't find any fault with how Ginell holds his sword in any situation, regardless of the posture.

Ginnell yawned, picked up a package, and walked out.

Normally, he would wait in the tavern for a while to see if any customers would come for an early morning drink.

But today is a special day. He needs to go to the Mage Guild in Silver Star City to recruit new members, and he has to ask Morin to find Luke's successor for him.

Then they beat him to death.

When they arrived at Silver Star City this time, the guards at the city gate were not the same ones that Ginnell had seen before.

But this time is different, because Ginell can pull out his two-star mage professional certification.

Silver Star City was as bustling as ever. Ginnell even spotted a dwarf sitting under a streetlamp, his eyes clear yet vacant, seemingly still drunk.

It was as if I was seeing myself just now.

Ginner took a look and then headed toward the Mage's Guild.

Compared to idle people like him, it's very easy to find a mage apprentice like Morin, who is even employed by the Mage Guild. He's like a NPC that spawns regularly.

"You're here?"

"They're here."

Maureen and Genele exchanged a few words and glances.

Ginnell asked if Maureen had helped him promote his work, while Maureen asked what he was there for.

What, does the tavern owner do nothing all the time?

That feeling was even less useful than those aristocratic good-for-nothings who lingered on dance floors and in salons.

"Ginnell said."

"Find me someone, a young orc who has only recently arrived in Silver Star City."

"His strength should be pretty good, his specific stats are probably around a two-star warrior."

"He's not short of money, but he'll probably choose to take on missions from the Adventurers' Guild to find something to do."

Morin was completely confused.

"Then your target and activity details are already quite detailed, and you even found an orc, not a generic human."

Genele shook his head.

He doesn't know anyone else, and finding someone is quite troublesome, which is the core reason.

Maureen gave Gianna a thumbs-up without saying a word.

Fine, you win.

Wait!

After Morin and the household servants were sent out to run errands, Ginnell simply sat down to watch the day in the life of a mage apprentice.

During this time, several passing monks and apprentices inquired about the tavern, their curiosity impossible to conceal.

Ginell was naturally happy to explain, and he didn't mind repeating the same explanation several times, since it involved his big money-making plan.

There aren't many people, so even if he comes up with a few more card sets, what difference will it make?

What's going on if there are no chives in a chive patch?

It was lunchtime, and more and more people were gathering at the Mage's Guild, all eager to play a game of cards right then and there.

But at that moment, a deafening sound rang out from afar.

"Who wants the powerful Graham as their bodyguard!"

"As long as I'm here, no one can get close to my employer!"

He has a loud voice and uses very direct language.

The mages and their apprentices surrounding Ginell frowned simultaneously. When they saw who it was, their eyes showed not only sudden realization but also a hint of intellectual disdain.

A two-meter-tall orc wearing a mixed suit of fur and armor.

Although the joints and gaps in the armor showed that this set was not cheap, it did not stop the mages from giving the orc who was shouting in the guild a sidelong glance.

Maureen elbowed Ginell.

"Go find the person you're looking for."

Amidst the astonished gazes of the mages and their apprentices, Ginnell rose and slowly walked up to Graeme, raising his head to meet his gaze.

"Greem asked gruffly."

"You're my employer?"

"Let's make it clear first, the pay for hiring Grammys can be low, but meals must be provided, three full meals a day. If there are extra trips or special missions, Grammys will need bonuses and extra meals!"

Genele shook his head and said.

To make a long story short...

"Grem, someone asked me to beat you up."

"I couldn't refuse this commission, after all, the person who commissioned it was really willing to spend money."

Mo Lin's expression froze instantly.

No?

This is not the plot I expected!

Graham bared his menacing, powerful fangs.

"So that's how it is. Little Sprout wants to fight Graham to the death!"

"If you've got the guts, come with me outside the city!"

"Grimm is a cultured and well-mannered orc. His ancestors and shamans taught him not to defile other people's territory!"

Just as the mage next to Ginnell was about to reach for his wand, Ginnell pressed down on the back of his hand.

After giving a relieved smile to those behind him, Gianna turned around.

"Yes, I'm going to fight you to the death."

"After all, that's what your ancestors demanded."

The instant Ginnell reached out and made a grasping motion in the air, a battle sword almost as tall as him appeared out of thin air.

Card: Luke's Lochta Blade.

Graham's eyes suddenly went blank, his mouth trembled uncontrollably, and the drool dripping from it left a noticeable puddle on the ground.

When you run away from home and go far enough away that you think no one can find you.

But before you could even settle down, a stranger appeared with a weapon you recognized at a glance.

Because that's a weapon that parents and elders only use when they're beating you; otherwise, it's just kept at home as a decoration.

To put it less politely...

That means Graham was terrified.

The magician and his apprentices beamed with excitement, realizing that there was going to be a good show to watch today.

Ginnell is so much better! Not only did he bring them fun places, but he also provided live entertainment!

"Ginnell, let's not go outside the city. How about we have a fight right here in our guild?"

"That's right, Genelec. You're a two-star mage in Silver Star City. It's perfectly reasonable for you to borrow the training grounds. The guild even reimbursed the maintenance costs."

"Putting everything else aside, at least in terms of testing grounds, apart from the explosive testing grounds of those dwarfs and goblins, our Mage Guild's training grounds are of the best quality!"
