Rebirth in a Courtyard: I Am a Little Hunter

Chapter 63 Making a Deal with Tiger

Tiger was silent for a few seconds, his fingers tapping unconsciously on the rough tabletop. In the dim light, his gaze darted back and forth between Wei Chen's strong physique and indistinct face.

Clearly, he made a quick judgment. In this era of strict resource control, it was impossible for an ordinary farmer to produce two large, fat pigs weighing over 300 kilograms each at once. The most likely scenario was that some well-connected and daring "insiders" had obtained some unplanned supplies from state-owned farms, production teams, or food companies and then sold them at high prices on the black market.

Tiger has dealt with many people like this. They usually have a stable source of goods, but their identities are sensitive and they need to remain hidden. They are important "sources" for the black market.

Thinking of this, the scar on Tiger's face seemed to soften a bit, and the corners of his mouth even twitched into an almost "gentle" smile. He leaned back against the creaking chair, his tone carrying a sincere, "heart-to-heart" sincerity:

"Brother, be frank." He picked up half a pack of "Da Qianmen" cigarettes from the table, took one out, lit it himself, and then pushed the pack towards Wei Chen, who shook his head to indicate he didn't want one. "These days, anyone who can get their hands on this kind of high-quality stuff is a real man. As for me, I run a business for the long haul and I'm happy to make friends." He exhaled a puff of smoke, which swirled in the dim light.

"This pork is good stuff. But as you know, the price of meat is clearly marked at the ghost market. The best pork costs 1.6 yuan per catty."

He held up his finger and gestured, "But this meat can't just be bought and sold directly. We have to find someone to kill it, remove the head, hooves, internal organs, and offal. Only about 70% of the meat is actually worth selling. Plus, there's the risk, the manpower required, and the grease the wheels..." He shrugged, giving a knowing look.

"So," he leaned forward again, his gaze fixed intently on Wei Chen, "I'll buy your pigs for 1.2 yuan per jin. To be honest, that price is high outside, but in our line of work, it's absolutely fair! I, Tiger, never shortchange my friends. 1.2 yuan is for the long haul. I hope that when you have goods in the future, you'll still think of our Beishi and of me, Tiger."

Wei Chen's mind raced. 1.2 yuan per jin! This was significantly higher than he had anticipated. His original expectation was that he would be lucky to sell it for one yuan. After all, his costs were almost zero. Tiger's price clearly indicated that he considered him an "insider" with a stable source of income, aiming to establish a long-term cooperative relationship with a slightly higher price. This was exactly what Wei Chen wanted.

Without the slightest hesitation, he met Tiger's scrutinizing and expectant gaze and nodded calmly: "Okay. The price is fair."

Tiger's smile widened noticeably, seemingly pleased with Wei Chen's straightforwardness. He was about to say something polite to finalize the details when Wei Chen immediately added, "Wait a minute, I'll bring it over in a bit."

After saying that, he turned around and strode away without hesitation, his tall figure heading straight for the door. He lifted the tattered burlap sack that was being used as a curtain and disappeared into the darkness outside.

Tiger's smile froze instantly, his finger holding the cigarette hovered in mid-air, his eyes filled with astonishment and... a hint of absurdity.

A man who had been silent in the shadows behind him couldn't help but mutter, "Brother Tiger, this kid... is he a bit slow? He's already leaving? Where are the pigs? Where did he put them? Did he come empty-handed?" This doesn't make sense! How could he possibly "bring them back in a bit"? Could he be hiding them nearby? But where could he hide them in this desolate wilderness?

Tiger snapped out of his daze, stubbed out his cigarette, and his eyes grew deep. He slowly shook his head: "Foolish? I doubt it. Either he's really capable, or... he's just playing dumb. Tell those outside not to stop him, and not to follow him. I want to see just how long his 'little while' will last."

He picked up the enamel mug on the table again, slowly sipping the bitter tea, his gaze lingering on the flickering light and shadow at the doorway, lost in thought. The burly man's actions completely disrupted his usual rhythm, instead arousing his intense curiosity.

Wei Chen left the dilapidated house but didn't go far. He quickly circled around to the back of a huge section of broken city wall. It wasn't far from the house in a straight line, but it was completely obscured by a huge shadow and piles of rubble. He made sure no one was around, and even the chirping of insects seemed to be suppressed by some invisible force.

With a slight thought, two plump and strong black pigs appeared on the ground before him.

Wei Chen took a deep breath and walked to a wild boar. This boar was enormous, plump and strong, easily weighing over 350 pounds. He stretched his limbs, his bulging muscles bulging under the light. He bent down, his arms gripping the boar's hind and forelegs like iron clamps, his core strength exploding, his back and waist taut like a bowstring!

"rise!"

A deep, muffled shout echoed through the warehouse. He had slung the wild boar, weighing over 350 pounds, onto his broad, rock-like right shoulder! The heavy weight made his shoulder sag slightly, and the floor beneath his feet seemed to groan softly.

But his thick legs were firmly planted like steel pillars, and his core abdominal muscles tightened instantly, completely offsetting the enormous downward force.

Without pausing, he repeated the process, bending down again to grab the leg of another wild boar. This time, the movement was slightly more strenuous, but his immense strength and exquisite technique were once again on display. With an even heavier groan, the second, equally heavy wild boar was hoisted onto his left shoulder!

The two enormous creatures, weighing over 700 pounds combined, pressed down on his broad shoulders like two mountains of flesh! Sweat instantly seeped from his bulging temples and thick neck.

He adjusted his center of gravity, ensuring the weight of the two pigs was evenly distributed. His thick carotid arteries throbbed powerfully beneath his skin, and every muscle fiber in his body vibrated rapidly, resisting the terrifying load. He was like a mythical giant lifting a mountain.

With over a decade of experience in cultivating true essence, Wei Chen could certainly carry this weight without any problem; it would be as light as a feather. However, he couldn't let others see him carrying over 700 pounds and still jumping around, or he would truly become a monster.

All of the above were performed by Wei Chen, who is now playing a strongman who can carry seven or eight hundred pounds.

After getting used to it for a while and finding his footing, Wei Chen identified the direction and took steady steps like a giant elephant, heading towards the dim yellow lantern that marked Tiger Brother's stronghold.

Weighing over 700 pounds, each step it took produced a dull "thump...thump..." sound that echoed through the silent ruins of the city wall, like the drums of an ancient war.

Inside the dilapidated house, Tiger had just brought the enamel mug to his lips. Pockmarked Brother and another man stood guard at the door, yawning listlessly. Monkey, meanwhile, squatted in the shadows of the corner outside the door, idly whittling a stick with a knife.

suddenly!

Boom...boom...boom...

Heavy, slow footsteps, with a chilling rhythm, came clearly from the darkness, growing louder as they approached! The sound didn't seem like human footsteps, but rather like some giant beast drawing near!

"What's that sound?!" Brother Ma instantly became alert, put his hand on his waist, stood up abruptly, and listened intently.

Tiger put down the jar, his brows furrowed, his sharp eyes fixed on the flickering light and shadow at the doorway.

Boom...boom...boom...

The sound grew closer and clearer! Every step felt like it was treading on one's heart! The light at the doorway began to flicker slightly, and the shadows on the ground were stretched and distorted.

The monkey also stood up, looking in alarm in the direction from which the footsteps came.

Finally, at the edge of the dim, swaying halo of the lantern light, a huge outline slowly emerged and quickly became clear and magnified!

Time seemed to freeze as Wei Chen, like a prehistoric beast carrying two enormous black pigs resembling small mountains, stepped into the area illuminated by the lights.

Brother Ma's eyes widened instantly, his mouth opened wide enough to fit an egg, and he forgot to move the hand that was on his waist.

The other man inside the door gasped, involuntarily taking a half-step back and bumping into the pile of sacks behind him with a clattering sound. The monkey, who was squatting in the corner, was so frightened that he fell to the ground with a thud, dropping the wooden stick and knife in his hand, staring in disbelief.

Tiger suddenly stood up from the broken wooden chair! His square face, weathered by time, and the scar on his broken eyebrow twitched violently with extreme shock!

The enamel mug in his hand fell to the ground with a clatter, spilling bitter tea all over the floor, but he was completely oblivious! His eyes were fixed on the burly man at the door who was carrying two pigs and looked like a ferocious beast, his pupils contracting sharply in horror!

Under the lights, Wei Chen's tall body was completely covered by the upper half of two huge wild boars, and only his thick, tree-stump-like legs and his large feet firmly planted on the ground could be seen.

The large black pig's fur glistened under the light, its massive body undulating slightly with Wei Chen's movements. Sweat trickled down his exposed, thick neck and the grooves of his arm muscles, shimmering in the light. He kept his head slightly lowered, the tattered cloth still draped over his shoulder, covering his mouth and nose; only his eyes shone brightly in the shadows, calmly scanning the petrified crowd in the room.

"Where to put it?" Wei Chen's deep, hoarse voice broke the silence, like a rumble of thunder.

"Uh... Ah?!" Brother Ma seemed to wake up from a dream, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down as he uttered a meaningless syllable. He suddenly realized what was happening, and his voice changed: "Put... put it on the ground! Right by the door! Quick! Quick!" He hurriedly kicked away the scattered debris by the door, making room for the "human beast" as if he was afraid of angering it if he was a step too slow.

Wei Chen nodded, walked to the open space by the door, and his core once again unleashed astonishing power, his arm muscles like tightly wound steel cables! He first slightly bent his knees, then used his waist and back to exert force, his shoulders suddenly shrugging and buckling!

"Bang! Bang!" Two muffled, chilling sounds rang out!

The two wild boars, weighing over 700 pounds combined, landed with a thud like two mountains of meat! The immense impact kicked up a little dust. The boars slammed to the ground with a dull, springy sound, bouncing slightly before coming to a stop. The aroma of fresh pork instantly filled the air, drowning out the smell of coal smoke in the room.

Wei Chen straightened up, stretching his shoulders and neck, which were a little sore and numb from the weight, making a slight cracking sound. He looked at Tiger in the room, his tone still calm: "Let's weigh him."

The room was deathly silent. Only the crackling of the burning coals in the stove and the heavy breathing of the people inside could be heard.

Tiger finally snapped out of his shock. He took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the turmoil in his heart, and looked at Wei Chen with a complex expression—his eyes contained disbelief, deep fear, and an indescribable awe.

He had lived most of his life, spent over a decade in the black market, and seen countless people of all kinds, but he had never seen such superhuman strength! This was completely beyond his understanding of "great strength"!
