The van stopped at a secluded intersection on the outskirts of the city.

Zhao Qiang jumped out of the passenger seat, went around to the back of the car, and opened the trunk.

Inside, Xiao Jin and Fu Yuzhou were huddled together, with Xiao Jin's little jacket covering them.

Xiao Jin put one hand on his shoulder, as if protecting him, and the two of them leaned against each other, sleeping peacefully.

Looking at the two adorable little ones, Zhao Qiang couldn't help but click his tongue:

"Children from wealthy families are raised to be so beautiful. Their little faces look like they've been painted on."

Wu Yin got out of the driver's seat, walked behind him, glanced at the trunk, paused for two seconds, and then spoke in a voice as cold as a bucket of ice water:

"Is that the main point?"

Zhao Qiang turned around, looking puzzled. "Don't you think these two kids are cute?"

Wu Yin raised his hand and slapped him on the back of the head: "The important thing is—the rope is untied! Are you blind?"

Zhao Qiang looked down and saw that the ropes on Xiao Jin's wrists and ankles had long since come loose and were hanging loosely on her. The tape on Fu Yuzhou's body had also been torn off, and the rope was crumpled to one side.

He was dumbfounded: "Who...who untied them? I was definitely tied up tightly!"

While cursing him for being useless, Wu Yin bent down and went inside, tightened the ropes around the two children's necks again, and checked them over once more.

Zhao Qiang was still muttering to himself, "This is really weird, it's just the two of us in the car, there's no one else..."

"Shut up and get to work."

After tying Xiao Jin up, Wu Yin hoisted her onto his shoulder, then had Zhao Qiang pick up Fu Yuzhou and quickly walked towards another black sedan parked on the side of the road.

This is an old black Passat with a new license plate; the trunk is much more spacious now.

The two children were put back in, the car started, turned onto a narrower dirt road, and headed towards the outskirts.

After driving for more than an hour, we arrived at an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city.

The factory gate was rusted down to half its original size, and inside were piles of discarded steel frames and rusty oil drums. The air was filled with the smell of rust and machine oil mixed together.

Several men were sitting in a corner smoking and playing cards. When they saw the car arrive, they all stood up.

The leader was a burly man in his early forties with a thick silver chain around his neck. An old scar ran from his brow bone to the corner of his mouth. He spoke in a deep, rough voice, and his men called him Brother Biao.

He walked over, glanced into the car, his gaze landing on Fu Yuzhou's face, then sweeping over Xiao Jin, who was still unconscious beside him, and his brows furrowed.

"Why is there one more? Didn't I say I only wanted that kid from the Fu family?"

Zhao Qiang and Wu Yin pushed each other back and forth, until finally Wu Yin spoke up:

"This little girl bumped into me on her own. She was playing with that boy, and when she ran over, Zhao Qiang casually covered her mouth."

Brother Biao's face darkened: "Just doing it casually? Do you think this is a vegetable market? Do you know how much trouble it will cause with another child?"

He cursed a couple of times, and Wu Yin added in a low voice, "This little girl's family is quite wealthy; she's from the Yun family."

Brother Biao finally calmed down and snorted, "Fine, one more is one more. Giving one is the same as giving two."

He took out his phone, dialed a number, said "The person has arrived," and hung up.

Less than half an hour later, the sound of high heels stepping on gravel could be heard at the factory gate.

Sang Jiamei stepped out of a black car, wearing a dark suit, her hair neatly styled, and her makeup exquisite, yet it couldn't conceal the dark circles under her eyes and the hatred suppressed at the corners of her mouth.

She walked into the factory, her gaze first falling on Fu Yuzhou, a hint of almost glee flashing in her eyes, before she noticed a little girl curled up in the corner, and frowned.

"I didn't ask you to kidnap anyone." She said with dissatisfaction, looking at Brother Biao.

Brother Biao shrugged: "This little girl was with that guy all the time, so I just brought her back."

"Don't worry, we'll handle this little girl ourselves; it's none of your business."

Sang Jiamei didn't say anything more and slowly walked up to Fu Yuzhou.

Fu Yuzhou was still fast asleep, his eyelashes fluttering occasionally, his lips pressed tightly together, as if he were restless even in his dreams.

Sang Jiamei stared at his face, her gaze growing colder, and said in a low voice, "Fu Zongxu sold my son, and I'll make him taste the same pain. To please that Italian woman and to protect himself, he sent Yu Heng to that kind of place."

"Yu Heng's leg is broken. He told me he fell and hurt himself, but I know it was definitely done by a vicious woman!"

Her voice grew increasingly shrill, her fingers gripping the bag strap tightly. "If it weren't for Fu Zongxu, my son wouldn't be like this. I'll make him taste what it's like to lose his own child."

She crouched down, brought her face close to Fu Yuzhou's, and lowered her voice even further, almost squeezing it out between her teeth: "Don't blame Second Grandma. If you have to blame someone, blame your father for being too heartless."

Xiao Jin was awakened by the sound.

She opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was the swaying old chandelier above her head, followed by the rusty iron frame around her and the faces of several strange men.

She paused for a second, then yawned slightly, her eyes still showing a hint of drowsiness and confusion. Finally, she looked down at her wrists, which had been re-tied.

She muttered to herself, "Oh, we've arrived."

Then she turned her head and gently nudged Fu Yuzhou next to her with her shoulder several times, whispering, "Zhouzhou, wake up, we're here."

Fu Yuzhou opened his eyes groggily, and the first thing he saw was Xiao Jin's face, and then he saw Sang Jiamei following her gaze.

He recognized her as his second grandmother. His expression shifted from confusion to fear. His lips moved, and his voice was hoarse and weak: "Second grandmother..."

Sang Jiamei had already stood up and was no longer looking at him.

She turned to Brother Biao and said, "Lock them up first, starve them for two days. Don't let them get away with it."

After saying that, she walked out in her high heels, paused at the door, didn't turn back, and only said, "Don't let them die."

Then they got in the car and left.

Brother Biao gestured with his chin at Zhao Qiang: "Did you hear that? Lock him up in that little hut in the back. You keep an eye on him, make sure nothing goes wrong."

Zhao Qiang led the two children into a small shack made of corrugated iron behind the factory.

Inside, there was only a dilapidated wooden table and two chairs, with several burlap sacks piled in the corner.

He put Xiao Jin and Fu Yuzhou on the ground, pulled up a chair and sat down by the door, then took out his phone and started watching videos.

Fu Yuzhou huddled in the corner, hugging his knees, his eyes red, but he bit his lip and didn't cry.

Xiao Jin sat on the ground with her two short legs stretched out. She looked at Fu Yuzhou, then at Zhao Qiang, and suddenly asked, "Uncle, you're thirty-three this year, right?"

Zhao Qiang looked up, startled: "How did you know?"

Xiao Jin tilted her head, looked at his face, and said seriously, "You have deep frown lines on your forehead, which means you worry a lot. But you have thick earlobes and a fleshy chin, which means you are destined to enjoy a good life, but you made a few mistakes when you were young."

She paused, then added, "Your family used to run a small supermarket, right? Did you close it down? Was it because your father got sick?"

The phone in Zhao Qiang's hand stopped in mid-air.

He stared at Xiao Jin, his expression shifting from amusement to surprise, and then from surprise to an indescribable unease.

He opened his mouth, but after a long pause, he managed to squeeze out, "How...how did you know my dad was sick?"

Xiao Jin didn't answer directly, but just looked at his face again:

"You have a small mole on the right side of your nose, near your eye. That signifies unrest in the household. After your father fell ill, was your family swindled out of some money?"

Zhao Qiang's hand trembled, and he almost dropped his phone.

He looked at the little girl in front of him, who was not even as tall as his knees. She was wearing a kindergarten vest, her hair was messy, and her face was covered in dust, but her eyes were clean and clear. She looked at him as if she could see right through him from head to toe.

He suddenly felt a chill on his back.

Fu Yuzhou also raised his head, looked at Xiao Jin, then at Zhao Qiang, his fear lessened and replaced by confusion.

Zhao Qiang swallowed hard, his voice dry: "You... what kind of child are you?"

Xiao Jin smiled at him, her lips curving upwards: "Xiao Jin is a good child."

Zhao Qiang stared intently at Xiao Jin, his eyes unblinking, as if trying to see right through her: "How...how did you know? Who told you?"

Xiao Jin sat on the ground, swinging her short legs, and said matter-of-factly, "Xiao Jin figured it out. I can tell what's going on in your family just by looking at your face."

As Xiao Jin spoke, she twisted her wrists behind her back to untie the rope.

Zhao Qiang opened his mouth, wanting to refute, but then felt a chill run down his spine.

He stared at Xiao Jin's fair and delicate face, and the more he looked, the more uneasy he felt.

This little girl doesn't seem to be making up lies.

Xiao Jin tilted her head again and added, "Has your father's illness worsened recently? Xiao Jin looks at the bridge of your nose and the area between your eyebrows; they're both dark. I'm afraid the elders in your family won't last much longer."

She paused, then lowered her voice slightly, "Uncle, if you don't believe me, just call home and ask."

Zhao Qiang reached into his pocket and found his phone.

He didn't believe it at first, but Xiao Jin's expression when she said it was so certain that it felt like something had gnawed at his heart.

He looked up at the doorway, then at the two children—Xiao Jin was sitting on the ground with her hands tied, and Fu Yuzhou was huddled in the corner, not daring to move.

He hesitated for a moment, then took out his phone and dialed his home number.

The phone rang several times before it was answered; it was his sister's voice, trembling with tears.

"Qiangzi? Why are you only calling now! Dad was taken to the hospital again this afternoon, and the doctor said he might not make it this time. You need to come back right away!"

Zhao Qiang felt as if he had been struck by lightning, and he almost dropped his phone.

He gripped his phone, his throat tightening: "What? Everything was fine yesterday!"

"Yesterday is yesterday! The doctor said it'll only take a couple of days, so come back soon!"

Zhao Qiang loosened his grip, and the phone almost fell to the ground.

His mind was buzzing, and he felt completely drained. He didn't even notice when the two children behind him stood up.

When he heard the rustling noise and turned around, Xiao Jin was already standing at the door with Fu Yuzhou in her arms.

The ropes binding their wrists had come loose at some point, and Xiao Jin was still clutching a broken end of the rope in her hand.

"You—" Zhao Qiang had just taken a step when Xiao Jin had already pulled Fu Yuzhou forward, raised her little foot, and smacked his toes.

Her foot looked light and airy, but when she stepped on it, it felt like a brick hitting the ground.

Zhao Qiang let out a miserable scream, jumped up clutching his foot, then lost his balance and fell to the ground.
