Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons
Chapter 11 Will I be the prince in the prophecy?
Inside the tent.
The scholars of the Citadel first used knives to bleed the prince, observing the color and viscosity of the blood.
Then collect the feces and urine, and smell and observe them with your nose and eyes.
They even prepared a large bucket of bubbling green medicine, saying it was for giving the prince an enema.
Had Baelor not cried out for help, attracting the attention of Illic and Rhaenyra who were waiting outside, the young prince would surely have fallen victim to the Citadel's cruelty!
"How were the test results?" Renilla asked, shielding Belle beside her.
The leading scholar spoke first, "Your Highness, the prince's blood test results are all normal. Other tests will not be available until at least tomorrow."
Renilla visibly relaxed. "Okay, if there's nothing else, I'll take Baylor back to rest."
The scholars bowed slightly to bid farewell to the princess and prince, and then continued to observe the feces and urine.
After leaving the tent, Renilla and Beller returned to their royal quarters to rest.
Renilla helped the frightened Beller sit up on the bed, and only after his breathing had calmed down did she speak:
"Brother, Sir Ilic told me that you didn't see the White Deer. What happened?"
Baylor didn't hide anything and told everyone about his experiences.
"Sister, I don't think it was a dream, because the feeling of touching the white deer made me feel real."
Renilla frowned. She was well aware of Baylor's chronic nightmares that had weakened his body, and that she had sought treatment from the maesters of the Citadel, but to no avail.
"Perhaps we should ask our father."
In Rhaenyra's memory, her father once told her, while drunk, that the Targaryen family had produced "Dreamwalkers," whose situation seemed exactly the same as Baelor's...
But so much time has passed that Renilla doesn't remember clearly.
Baylor didn't care. He was in good health and only needed a knight to give him specialized training. He believed that it wouldn't be long before he became a qualified crown prince.
"I don't want to think about that. I've been out all day, I'm going to bed now, sister."
Baylor waved his hand, took off his shoes, and lay down in his comfortable bed.
"Goodnight, my brother, sweet dreams." Renilla sat on the edge of the bed, then leaned down and kissed him on the forehead with a smile.
On the morning of the following day, after receiving the raven's letter, King Viserys finally returned to the camp before the maester's examination results were available.
"How is the prince?"
The scholars observed the prince's excrement and urine all night, and under the king's watchful eye, they offered a pleasing answer.
"Your Majesty, I must congratulate you. The prince's tests are all very healthy. He is just a little weak at the moment, but I believe that with proper care, he will soon become a healthy child."
The sudden good news left the emotionally charged Viserys somewhat bewildered.
After being stunned for a while, he ordered his guards to escort the scholars away and rewarded them with some gold coins.
"Where is the prince himself now?" Viserys asked one of his servants.
"The prince is resting in the royal tent, and Her Highness the princess is by his side," the servant replied respectfully.
Upon hearing this, Viserys immediately led several guards over.
Upon reaching the camp, he ordered the guards to wait where they were, while he went in to see the prince himself.
"Renera, how is Beller doing?"
When he saw Viserys walk in, Baylor stopped eating his bread and excitedly shared his dream from the previous day with his father.
"Father, I'm alright."
"I had a dream in the Royal Forest yesterday. I saw a white deer, and it personally blessed me, giving me good health!"
Upon hearing the word "dream," Viserys visibly became agitated.
"Tell your father what kind of dream you had?"
Beller didn't hide anything and repeated what he had told Renilla yesterday.
Upon hearing this, Viserys excitedly placed his hand on Baylor's shoulder. "If I'm not mistaken, your dreams possess the ability to foresee the future!"
Renilla spoke up, "Father, is the reason why Baylor's dreams can foresee the future related to the dreamwalkers you once told me about?"
Viserys looked at Renilla with great surprise, but his heart was filled with more emotion and excitement.
As a white stag symbolizing royal power, he, the king, never got to see it.
When the eldest son, Beile, visited the Imperial Guard for the first time, he not only saw it with his own eyes, but also received a blessing from the white deer!
What an incredible adventure!
Thinking of this, Viserys couldn't help but recall a legend that had been passed down within his family for a long time.
In front of his children, Viserys drew the Dragon Horn Dagger, one of the three great treasures passed down in his family, from his waist and handed it to his eldest son.
"Tell your father what you saw?"
Beile slightly raised the dragon horn dagger and saw that it was engraved with many densely packed small characters.
"This is the ancient Valyrian language."
Beller studied in the old town from a young age, and the ancient Valyrian language was arguably one of the languages he was most proficient in.
"The prophesied prince... the legendary savior, will once again wield the flames..."
Baylor summarized the above text in his own words.
Viserys was very pleased. The maesters of the Citadel and Rhaenyra had told him more than once that Baelor was a very studious and hardworking child!
"You're absolutely right, child."
"The description on this dagger is exactly what Aegon the Conqueror saw in his dream—the legend of A Song of Ice and Fire!"
"I want you to understand the responsibility and burden you will bear the moment you learn of the legend!"
Viserys spoke slowly and deliberately, looking intently at Baylor.
Beller was clearly stunned, looking at Renilla with some confusion.
Rhaenyra squeezed his hand and asked, "Father, isn't the legend of A Song of Ice and Fire just a ballad told by the singers?"
Viserys shook his head solemnly. "This is not a ballad, but a real prophecy."
"I want you to remember, and tell your descendants, that you should always remember the eternal night and the cold winter."
"I understand, Father."
Baylor lowered his head in thought. The mention of eternal night and ice reminded him of the Stark family motto: Winter is coming.
Could this be related to the legends of A Song of Ice and Fire?
Renilla didn't think as much as Beller.
She was simply surprised that her father, the king, bore such a heavy responsibility.
Seeing the somber atmosphere between the siblings, Viserys took the dragon horn dagger from his waist, then sheathed it and handed it to Baelor.
"Now, your father is giving you this dragon horn dagger not only as a blessing for your new life, but also to remind you of your responsibilities as king."
"You must remember that being the king of the Seven Kingdoms is never about enjoyment, but rather a test of the human heart given by the Seven Gods."
The prince took the dragon horn dagger, and just as he was about to say something, he saw that his father had already walked out of the tent.
He drew the dragon horn dagger and calmly looked at the words engraved on it, or rather, at himself reflected in the gleam of the blade.
Am I the prophesied child of the legend of Ice and Fire?
Baylor asked himself this question.
