Mr. Liang, you mustn't covet other people's fiancées!

Chapter 54 That's just how he is; he's kind to everyone.

Liang Chaoxu turned to the porridge shop in the south of the city that Wen Li had mentioned before, packed up a few side dishes and hot porridge that she might like, and carried them back.

When we arrived at the sanatorium, the corridor was quiet, and the door at the end was ajar, letting out a sliver of warm yellow light.

Just as he was about to push the door open, he heard Wen Li's voice coming from the crack in the door.

"Senior, I told you about this today."

He stopped.

"To the South City branch?" Wen Li paused for a moment. "Two years!"

Liang Chaoxu stood outside the door, the insulated bag in his hand still hot to the touch, his fingers unconsciously tightening around the handle.

Wen Li's voice continued, "I won't agree to anything you say... Take good care of yourself..."

The room fell silent.

Liang Chaoxu looked down at the insulated bag in his hand; the hot air condensed into a thin mist at the opening of the bag.

After waiting a while, he pushed open the door and went in, saying casually, "I brought you some porridge, it's still warm."

Wen Li was putting her phone back on the table when she heard the sound. She looked up and her gaze lingered on his face for a moment: "You went out?"

"Hmm," he placed the insulated bag on the table, bent down to open the lid, and the steam from the side dishes and porridge escaped together. "Eat it while it's hot."

Wen Li didn't ask any further questions and got up to get the bowls and chopsticks.

The two sat down across the table, each eating quietly. The chopsticks occasionally clinked against the rim of their bowls, the night outside the window was still, and the radiator hummed softly.

Wen Li lowered her head to pick up some food, but her mind remained unsettled.

Jiang You's words kept echoing in her mind: "Wen Li, I'm not asking you to wait for me, I just want you to consider me." "Anyway, you're not in a rush to get married, we can take it slow, can't we?"

Since that's the case, she no longer needs to find someone to pretend to be her boyfriend.

Liang Chaoxu sat opposite her, his gaze gliding over her slightly drooping eyelashes before returning to his own. He scooped up a spoonful of porridge, put it in his mouth, and slowly swallowed it.

It seems Jiang You is really about to make a move. Two years is enough time for many things to change direction.

Liang Chaoxu looked up at Wen Li. This opportunity belongs to both me and Jiang You.

I can be with her day and night, and Jiang You can use this to leave a knot in her heart. No, he has to pave the way for her before she knows what to choose.

After the holiday, at the signing ceremony for the resort project, Wen Li and Meng Shu went directly from the construction site to the dinner.

The private room wasn't large, and the round table was full of business partners. Liang Chaoxu and Jiang Gu had come from their respective companies and arrived before them.

Wen Li was seated in the third position to the right of the main seat, next to Liang Chaoxu.

He was looking down at his phone when Wen Li sat down. He glanced at her briefly but didn't say anything.

Not long after the banquet began, a vice president from the partner company came around with a wine glass, smiled and said to Wen Li, "Analyst Wen, thank you for helping me solve those data issues the day before yesterday. I must toast you."

Wen Li stood up, and just as her hand touched the rim of her glass, Liang Chaoxu reached out and gently pressed his hand against the rim of her glass, his voice steady: "She's been taking medication lately, so she can't drink."

As he spoke, he picked up his glass of baijiu and raised it to the vice president, saying, "This glass is for her, please don't mind."

He had barely finished speaking when he tilted his head back and drank it all in one swift motion.

The vice president paused for a moment, then smiled, drank his wine, and turned back to his seat.

During the next round of toasts, Liang Chaoxu directly instructed a waiter to pour Wen Li a glass of juice. Instantly, the way the people at the table looked at Wen Li carried a somewhat unspoken meaning.

Wen Li lowered her voice: "My nose is fine now, I can drink alcohol."

Liang Chaoxu remained silent, put down his wine glass, and moved the plate of sweet and sour pork ribs that was far away from her to her side: "Their sweet and sour pork ribs are quite good, try some."

Wen Li pursed her lips and didn't touch her chopsticks.

Liang Chaoxu glanced at her, picked up the serving chopsticks, and put a piece of alcohol into the bowl in front of her: "The doctor said you should try to drink less alcohol."

Wen Li sighed and lowered her head to eat.

Meng Shu sat opposite the two, taking in everything that had just happened. Liang Chaoxu had clearly said that he wasn't good at taking care of others, yet now he was thinking of Wen Li in every way.

She took a sip of tea, her fingertips slowly tracing the rim of the cup. Her gaze fell on Wen Li, and her eyes darkened for a moment.

As the dinner party ended, the group emerged from the private room, and the night breeze swept into the corridor, dispelling the lingering smell of alcohol.

Meng Shu walked beside Wen Li, the two of them lagging behind the crowd. The corridor lights were bright and cold, and the sound of high heels echoed softly in the empty passageway.

Meng Shu spoke first, her tone casual: "Team Leader Wen, did you and General Manager Liang know each other before?"

She remembered that when she went to Hangzhou before, the two of them weren't this familiar with each other.

Wen Li paused for a moment, then calmly replied, "We don't really know each other."

Meng Shu smiled slightly and continued, "He was really bad at taking care of people in college. One winter during my sophomore year, I had a fever and was getting an IV drip at the school hospital. He sat with me for the entire afternoon. When he left, he told me, 'Drink more hot water.'"

She said this with a wistful smile, as if revealing an old story known only to her and Liang Chaoxu: "I thought to myself at the time, how will this guy ever find a girlfriend?"

Wen Li did not respond.

Meng Shu continued, her tone softening, and turned to look at Liang Chaoxu in front of her: "Later, he gradually learned to take care of people. He would bring me breakfast and remember that I didn't put sugar in my coffee. Sometimes, he would even bring fruit for the girls in our group who were working on the project."

She paused here, turned her head to look at Wen Li: "He's a very nice person to everyone, so don't overthink it."

The phrase "He's nice to everyone" reached Wen Li's ears, reminding her of the time she saw Liang Chaoxu and Meng Shu arguing heatedly in front of the wonton shop.

It's likely that Meng Shu argued with Liang Chaoxu about this. After all, not many girls can accept that their boyfriend treats other girls the same as him.

Wen Li felt a prickling sensation somewhere in her heart, a slight discomfort. Taking the opportunity to fix her hair, she casually pressed her hand to her chest and smiled at Meng Shu.

"No. Jingyue and Shengjiang are currently in the cooperation phase, and I'm practically half an employee of President Liang. I'm very grateful to President Liang for treating his employees well."

Meng Shu raised an eyebrow, and seeing that her goal had been achieved, she said no more.

The two walked out of the gate side by side, their shadows cast long, thin shadows by the streetlights below the steps. Meng Shu pulled her coat tighter and nodded goodbye, saying, "See you at the meeting tomorrow."

Wen Li stood on the steps, watching Meng Shu's figure disappear into the end of the streetlights, but did not leave immediately.

A night breeze, carrying the dry chill unique to early spring, ruffled the stray hairs on Wen Li's forehead. She reached up and tucked them behind her ears, preparing to take the subway.

As she stepped off the stairs, a black Maybach pulled up in front of her. The rear window was half-rolled down, and Liang Chaoxu looked at her, his voice gentle: "Get in, I'll take you home."

Wen Li stopped in her tracks, glanced at him, and turned to leave: "No need."
