Mr. Liang, you mustn't covet other people's fiancées!
Chapter 55 You're a Madman
"The subway is just ahead, so there's no need to trouble you, Mr. Liang."
No sooner had Wen Li finished speaking than she heard the door slam shut. She turned around and saw Liang Chaoxu striding up to her.
He raised an eyebrow at her slightly: "I'm taking the subway too, let's go."
"?" Before Wen Li could speak, Liang Chaoxu had already walked towards the subway entrance on his own.
She chased after him, wanting to tell him that the subway here didn't go to Yuhe Mansion at all.
"Mr. Liang."
Liang Chaoxu continued walking forward.
Wen Li frowned and quickened her pace: "Liang Chaoxu?"
Liang Chaoxu suddenly stopped and turned around.
Wen Li was almost stopped in her tracks and nearly bumped into his arms.
Liang Chaoxu tilted his head slightly, watching with a smile in his eyes as she stood firm, then looked up at him with a pout.
"You did that on purpose!"
He shook his head: "My hearing isn't very good. If you call me General Manager Liang, I can't hear you."
Wen Li was furious with him, so she stomped on his foot and stomped into the subway entrance.
Liang Chaoxu glanced down at the footprints on the leather shoes, then smiled and turned to follow her.
He was tall and had long legs; he walked to her side in just a few steps and asked with a smile, "Buying a subway card or scanning a code?"
Wen Li turned her head: "You've never ridden the subway before?"
Of course I've ridden in it.
This is just an excuse for me to talk to you.
Thinking this through, Liang Chaoxu nodded seriously and said in a solemn tone, "I've never sat in it before."
Wen Li took a deep breath and thought to himself: He's from a wealthy family, it's normal that he's never ridden the subway.
"Scan the code."
Liang Chaoxu pressed on earnestly, "How do I scan it? Where's the code?"
Wen Li: "You should go back the way you came right away. The subway here doesn't go to your home."
"Then let's go to Guanghuali first, and then I'll go home." Liang Chaoxu's smile was faint.
Wen Li remained silent, simply looking at him as if he were a fool.
I'm so bored I have nothing to do.
Liang Chaoxu eventually boarded the subway with Wen Li.
The crowds were still dense in the evening, and there were no seats available, so the two of them stood the whole way.
After getting off the subway, the two walked towards Guanghuali.
"I heard from President Jiang that you're getting promoted to manager?" Liang Chaoxu said, walking around behind Wen Li and stepping onto the outside so she could walk on the inside of the sidewalk.
Wen Li lowered her head to reply to customer messages, gave a brief "hmm," and didn't look up.
When they arrived at the entrance of the residential complex, Liang Chaoxu glanced at the building entrance, then at Wen Li: "Aren't you going to invite me up for a bit?"
Wen Li put away her phone and looked up at him: "It's too late, it's not convenient."
Liang Chaoxu had only been teasing her, so he didn't press the matter further, only curving the corners of his mouth slightly: "Alright. Then you can go upstairs, I'll call someone to pick you up."
Wen Li nodded and turned to enter the residential area.
Liang Chaoxu stood under the streetlight, watching her walk into the residential area before turning his gaze away. He took out his phone and dialed Yan Jin's number, his tone flat: "Come pick me up at Guanghuali."
Just as I hung up the phone, I caught a glimpse of a figure turning out of the alleyway, hunching his shoulders, walking very quietly along the wall towards the gate of the residential area.
The man was wearing an old jacket and had messy hair. He paused at the gate for a moment, then followed the other residents inside.
Liang Chaoxu recognized the face; it was Wen Chenghua.
Without thinking twice, he quickly followed.
Wen Li had just changed into her slippers when there was a knock on the door.
She assumed it was the takeout she had just ordered and opened the door without thinking.
When she saw Wen Chenghua's face, she instinctively took several steps back, her eyes filled with extreme fear, and even the fingertips hanging at her sides were trembling.
Wen Chenghua clung to the door frame, peered into the room, and was about to go inside.
"You've really made something of yourself, living in such a big house all by yourself. Your brother and I are crammed into a dilapidated house in the suburbs, and we almost froze to death in the winter."
Wen Li picked up a bag from the entryway cabinet and threw it at him: "Get out! Even if you freeze to death, it's none of my business."
Wen Chenghua grabbed the bag and, in the process, strangled Wen Li by the neck, his eyes wide with anger: "Try saying it's none of your business again, and I'll strangle you right now."
"If you hadn't offended Deputy Director Han back then, how could I have gone bankrupt? I've suffered for so long, and now you live in such a nice house, you must have saved up a lot of money, you should compensate me."
Wen Li was choked and couldn't breathe. She tried to pull herself back by his arm, but failed, her face turning purple from the pressure: "When you and Zheng Ying knocked me unconscious and took me to the hotel, didn't you think about the consequences of offending him?"
"Even if that's not true!" Wen Chenghua moved closer, his grip tightening and his voice rising.
"I've raised you for so many years, you've eaten and drunk my food, and now that you're all grown up, you want to renege on my debt? You should repay me and be filial to me!"
Wen Li's vision began to darken, and her ears rang. Supported by her desire for help, she raised her foot to kick Wen Chenghua, but he kicked her hard in the knee.
The elevator opened with a "ding," and Liang Chaoxu rushed out, ran to the door, grabbed Wen Chenghua by the back of his collar, and pulled him back.
Wen Chenghua was caught off guard and staggered back two steps. He tripped and fell backward at the door, hitting the threshold with the back of his head and howling in pain.
Liang Chaoxu stepped over him and ran forward to help Wen Li, who had fallen to the ground and was still catching her breath. Looking at her purple face and lips, his voice trembled slightly: "Don't be afraid, I'll take you to the hospital."
Once he had recovered, Wen Chenghua noticed a discarded iron chair in the corner of the hallway. He quickly got up, picked it up, and swung it heavily at the two of them.
Liang Chaoxu was caught off guard and took a solid hit to the back.
He pulled Wen Li into his arms to protect her, but when he turned around, Wen Chenghua hit him on the forehead again, and blood immediately flowed down his brow bone.
Wen Chenghua was not afraid at all and continued smashing the glass: "You dare to hit me? I'll teach you a lesson today."
Liang Chaoxu raised his hand to block it, but the chair hit his wrist, and he groaned as his wrist throbbed with pain.
"Wen Chenghua, you're a madman."
Liang Chaoxu seized the opportunity, quickly stood up, and kicked Wen Chenghua in the stomach, knocking him to the ground.
Then he kicked Wen Chenghua several more times until he couldn't get up, and then he stopped: "A person like you should stay in prison for the rest of your life."
As he spoke, Liang Chaoxu took out his phone and called the police.
After catching her breath, Wen Li stood up, supporting herself on the floor. She saw blood flowing down Liang Chaoxu's face, and her heart felt like it had been suddenly squeezed.
She staggered to his side, her hand reaching out halfway but hesitant to touch his forehead, her voice filled with anxiety: "Never mind him, let's go to the hospital."
Liang Chaoxu raised his hand and grasped her fingers, smiled at her and shook his head, while still communicating with the police about the location and floor.
Wen Chenghua lay on the ground, panting heavily in pain, his eyes filled with hatred and malice as he looked at Wen Li.
"Wen Li, you're a heartless bastard. Your mother absolutely refused to have you, and I raised you with such care all these years, and you've ruined my life... ah..."
Liang Chaoxu hung up the phone and kicked him in the side, interrupting him.
Liang Chaoxu glanced down at him, his eyes murderous: "If you dare say another word, I'll kill you."
Wen Li glanced at Wen Chenghua, turned around and ran back into the house to find the family first-aid kit. She took out gauze from it and came back: "I'll stop the bleeding for you first."
Liang Chaoxu turned around, went into the house, pulled up a chair and sat by the door, letting Wen Li treat the injury on his forehead.
Wen Chenghua pushed himself up from the ground, his body aching terribly; he couldn't run away. He leaned against the doorframe, glaring fiercely at the two of them.
A moment later, he suddenly laughed, muttering to himself, "No wonder, it was you..."
