Mr. Liang, you mustn't covet other people's fiancées!
If you say thank you again in Chapter 56, I'll kiss you again.
"Back when Wen Li injured Deputy Director Han's head, wasn't it you who took her away from the hotel?" Wen Chenghua laughed.
"Otherwise, she would have been crushed to death by Deputy Director Han hundreds of times over. Let me think, you are..."
Before he could finish speaking, the elevator doors opened with a "ding," and the police stepped out.
The police took nearly two hours to take his statement. Wen Chenghua was still cursing when he was taken in, and only stopped after the police reprimanded him.
At midnight, the two left the police station and went to the nearest hospital.
An X-ray of Liang Chaoxu's wrist revealed a fracture, requiring immobilization for at least two weeks. Upon examining his back through his shirt, the on-duty doctor frowned: "How did you get injured?"
Liang Chaoxu pulled down his shirt hem: "I tripped and fell."
The doctor put a cast on his wrist to immobilize it, prescribed topical medication to improve blood circulation, and told him before leaving, "Don't exert yourself for the next few days, and try to rest as much as possible."
Liang Chaoxu responded, shifting his gaze from the doctor's face to Wen Li, who had just returned after paying the fees.
He smirked, looking pitiful, and said, "It hurts so much. The doctor said you have to take care of me."
The on-duty doctor was taken aback: That's what I said?
Wen Li was already worried about him, so she nodded without hesitation and carefully inquired about the precautions before leaving the hospital with him.
Just as Wen Li got into the car, she was about to give the driver the address of Yuhe Mansion when Liang Chaoxu stopped her: "If I go back like this, Aunt Wang will definitely be shocked. Let's go to your place instead."
"But……"
Liang Chaoxu, clutching his wrist, interrupted her, "It hurts so much, I need to go back and rest quickly."
Wen Li pursed her lips and looked at him, finally giving the driver the address of Guanghua Lane.
It was past 1 a.m. when I got home.
After washing up, Wen Li took out the medicine the doctor had prescribed, patted the sofa, and said to Liang Chaoxu, who was drinking water at the dining table, "Come here, let me apply the medicine for you."
Liang Chaoxu walked over and sat down, raising both arms and looking at Wen Li.
"What?" Wen Li asked, holding the medicine with a puzzled look on her face.
Liang Chaoxu said earnestly, "My hands hurt, I can't unbutton my shirt."
Wen Li put the medicine aside, bent down to unbutton his shirt, and took it off without looking at him.
The light shone on the purplish-blue marks on his back, which stretched from his shoulder blades to his waist, with dark purple bruises at the edges.
Wen Li paused for a moment, then twisted open the blood-activating ointment, squeezed it into her palm, rubbed her hands together to warm it, and then applied it to his back, starting from the shoulder blade and slowly pushing it away along the edge of the bruise.
Liang Chaoxu's back tensed for a moment and then slowly relaxed, his voice, which he was trying to suppress as he spoke, remained stuck in his throat.
Wen Li softened her pressure, massaging the muscles on his back in circles with her palms until the skin around the bruise felt slightly warm: "How's the pressure?"
"It's fine, it doesn't hurt at all." He smiled through gritted teeth.
After applying the medicine, Wen Li went to the bedroom to make the bed, then came out with the blanket and placed it on the sofa: "You sleep on the bed, I'll sleep on the sofa."
"You can't sleep on this sofa at all, you'll have to sleep in the bed with me." Liang Chaoxu looked up at her.
Wen Li shook her head: "Your wrist is injured, go to bed quietly."
"You can't hold down my wrist." With that, Liang Chaoxu pulled Wen Li back to the bedroom.
He lay down first, then patted the spot on his left: "It's late, come and go to sleep."
Wen Li glanced at him for two seconds, then walked over, lifted the blanket, and lay down.
The lights were turned off, and the bedroom became quiet.
Wen Li moved closer and closer to the edge of the bed, almost half of her body hanging off the edge, afraid of touching his injured wrist.
Liang Chaoxu noticed, turned over to face her, and used his uninjured arm to put his arm around her waist, pulling her a little closer to the middle of the bed: "You'll fall to the ground in a minute."
Wen Li reached out to push away the arm around her waist: "I'm afraid of touching your wrist."
Liang Chaoxu tightened his grip on his arm: "If you move again, you're really going to touch my injured hand."
Wen Li stopped moving, lay down obediently, and remained motionless.
Liang Chaoxu chuckled softly, "Frozen in place?"
"Just let me go," Wen Li replied earnestly.
Liang Chaoxu shifted his body, pressing close to her, resting his chin on the top of her head, and said in a low voice, "I won't let go, let's sleep."
After a long silence, Wen Li spoke softly: "Liang Chaoxu."
Liang Chaoxu hummed in response, sounding drowsy.
"Thank you."
There was a moment of silence in the darkness.
Just as Wen Li thought he had fallen asleep and was about to close her eyes to sleep, his hand, which was wrapped around her waist, quickly slid up and held her chin, forcing her to lift her head.
The next second, his lips landed on hers, giving them a couple of punishing sucks before gently kissing them again and then pulling away.
Liang Chaoxu nuzzled Wen Li's face with the tip of his nose, his warm breath tickling her skin: "Say thank you again, and I'll kiss you again."
In the darkness, Wen Li's breathing was a little uneven. She turned her head away from his nose and whispered, "Then I'll take it back."
A soft laugh reached her ears. Liang Chaoxu gently stroked her neck with his fingertips, then placed his hand back on her waist, patting it lightly. "Sleep."
Wen Li closed her eyes and lay quietly. His breathing gradually became steady beside her, and his palm was placed on her waist, feeling slightly hot through the thin fabric of her nightgown.
Sleepiness washed over her like a tide, and in her half-awake state, she felt him tighten his arms around her, as if afraid she would fall off the bed.
At seven o'clock in the morning, the alarm clock rang on time.
Wen Li quickly washed up, then helped Liang Chaoxu button his shirt and tie his tie. Afterward, she picked up her bag and said, "Okay, let's go."
Liang Chaoxu stood motionless at the door of the washroom: "I haven't shaved yet."
Wen Li paused, "I don't have a razor here. Just bear with it for today, and shave at your place tonight."
"We have a meeting today," Liang Chaoxu said.
Wen Li pondered for a moment, then turned and went back to the bedroom. When she came out, she was holding a disposable eyebrow trimmer razor and handed it to him: "This is all I have. Use it to shave."
Liang Chaoxu raised his right hand, which was wrapped up like a rice dumpling: "I can't shave with my left hand."
"Okay." Wen Li nodded, walked into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror. "Come on over, or I'll be late for work."
Liang Chaoxu walked over and obediently raised his chin.
Wen Li picked up the eyebrow trimmer and was about to start using it.
Liang Chaoxu took a step back: "Let's start by creating foam."
Wen Li paused, turned around, picked up the face wash, and asked, "Is this okay?"
Liang Chaoxu nodded.
After applying the foam, Wen Li stood in front of him, holding his chin with one hand and the eyebrow trimmer in the other, gently shaving down his jawline.
The sound of foam being scraped by a blade was faint, yet exceptionally clear in the quiet bathroom.
Liang Chaoxu looked down at her, his gaze falling on her serious and focused face, his breathing becoming lighter than usual.
"I'm sorry for the scratch." Wen Li looked up, her fingers still resting on his chin, her eyes full of apology.
"It's okay, it doesn't hurt." Liang Chaoxu smiled and tilted his head to cooperate, but his gaze never left her face.
After shaving, Wen Li noticed a small clump of foam that had leaked from the corner of his lips and instinctively wiped it away with her fingertip.
Liang Chaoxu paused for a moment, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly. He lowered his head and gently touched her fingertips with his lips.
Wen Li froze, and when she looked up at him, he was staring intently at her.
He smiled and said, "Thank you for your hard work, Miss Wen."
