Night Rose

Chapter 116 Wake Up Soon

The accident couldn't be kept from the family; the footage was broadcast live on television, and most subsequent online reports would focus on this point for marketing purposes.

The downfall of popular racing teams is a timeless topic. People always like to discuss the success or failure of certain individuals, applying facts and their own speculations to them, either condemning or praising them.

Wang Tianle immediately video-called his parents to let them know he was safe and sound, and showed them a picture of the medical certificate issued by the doctor to prove that he was really fine.

Grandpa was also worried, but Wang Tianle only vaguely said that Zhou Zheng was still undergoing the examination and that he would video call Grandpa after the examination was completed.

Grandpa sat alone on the balcony, not knowing if there was any news.

The Wang couple went to persuade him, saying that everyone knew there were risks involved, and they should have expected something to go wrong. If Wang Tianle was alright, Zhou Zheng would definitely be fine too; all the safety precautions were in place.

Despite all the persuasion, Grandpa's furrowed brows remained furrowed.

The grandfather and grandson had a deep bond, and no amount of persuasion from others could change their minds; they could only wait for good news from Zhou Zheng.

Su Jin stayed in the corridor for a while to calm herself down before entering the ward. When she saw Zhou Zheng's tightly closed eyes, she was afraid that Zhou Zheng would never wake up again.

Even with the doctor's words of comfort, her heart trembled inexplicably. She gripped Zhou Zheng's hand and pressed it tightly against her face, using his body heat to remind herself that Zhou Zheng was still by her side.

"Wake up, Zhou Zheng," she murmured.

With an IV drip in his ear, everything Zhou Zheng heard was shrouded in mist, but he kept hearing a familiar voice calling his name.

But he was very sleepy and wanted to get a good night's sleep. He wanted her to stop calling out, but he subconsciously felt that she would be sad.

His lips moved but no sound came out.

Su Jin's eyes widened suddenly. She saw Zhou Zheng's lips moving, so she quickly grabbed a cotton swab, dipped it in water, and applied it to his lips.

"Zhou Zheng, are you about to wake up? You've been asleep for a whole day and night..." Su Jin slumped back into her chair, futilely clutching two cotton swabs, her fingers trembling slightly.

"Knock knock".

There were two knocks on the door.

Su Jin turned around and saw two men in suits standing at the door. The man in the lead was young and wore glasses, while the other man was older and looked somewhat sickly.

"Who are you? Are you from the organizers?" Su Jin asked warily, blocking Zhou Zheng's bed. "Or are you from He Zhangxing?!"

The middle-aged man didn't speak, but his dignified appearance seemed somewhat familiar to Su Jin. She looked back at Zhou Zheng on the hospital bed, then at the man, and instantly understood the relationship between the two.

"Pretty smart," Zhou Ruian snorted.

Wu Ting adjusted his glasses. "Miss Su, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wu Ting, and this is Zhou Zheng's father."

Su Jin didn't move aside. Judging from the fact that Zhou Zheng had never mentioned his father's situation, Zhou Zheng's father was definitely not a good person.

"What do you want?"

"Of course I'm here to visit Zhou Zheng." Wu Ting smiled, tilted her head to look at the hospital bed behind her, and asked with concern, "Is he alright? He looked quite bad in the video; the car was wrecked."

Su Jin felt a sharp pain in her heart, but she still frowned. "He's fine. He's still unconscious. There's no point in you seeing him. Let's wait until he wakes up before coming back."

"You..." Zhou Ruian was about to scold him, but Wu Ting stopped him with a small gesture.

"Mr. Zhou, she's Zhou Zheng's girlfriend. Whatever she says or does could reach Zhou Zheng's ears. We should be careful," Wu Ting whispered in his ear.

When Zhou Ruian heard the word "girlfriend," he glanced at Su Jin a few more times.

She is beautiful, and her son has the same taste as her, but he doesn't seem to have a very gentle temperament. I also heard that this woman is a racing engineer.

"Are you an engineer?"

"How so?" Su Jin asked back.

Zhou Ruian snorted coldly, "No manners at all."

Su Jin thought to herself: No wonder Zhou Zheng never mentions his father. He's so arrogant and haughty. The way he looks at her is almost like he's scrutinizing a criminal, which makes her very uncomfortable.

"Can we go out now? The patient needs to rest," Su Jin said firmly.

Wu Ting left the ward first, gesturing for him to enter.

Zhou Ruian put his hands behind his back and walked out of the ward.

The two got into the Bentley. Zhou Ruian leaned back in his seat and suddenly coughed. The cough sounded deep, as if it came from his lungs.

He coughed until his face turned red, and his fingers trembled as he took the two pills Wu Ting handed him, but he couldn't hold them and they fell to the ground.

Wu Ting deftly removed two more pills, put them into Zhou Ruian's mouth, and then handed him water, carefully feeding him the medicine.

Wu Ting's indifferent gaze was reflected from behind his glasses. His fingers were covered in Zhou Ruian's saliva, which was extremely disgusting, but he did not show any disgust on the surface. He simply wiped it away calmly.

Zhou Ruian felt a little better after taking the medicine, and his breathing became much easier with Wu Ting patting his back.

"Go find out who did it," Zhou Ruian said, pointing in the direction of the hospital as he coughed.

Wu Ting knew what was going on, but he couldn't say it directly, otherwise it would expose his close relationship with Zhou Zheng in private, making the old man suspicious for no reason.

"Yes."

The atmosphere in the car was tense. When Zhou Ruian got sick and lost his temper, he would hit anyone, even his most trusted secretary, who had been slapped by him several times.

After a while, Zhou Ruian's breathing, which sounded like a broken accordion, finally stopped.

"Wu Ting, do you all think I'm going to die?"

"Mr. Zhou, how could that be? The doctor has examined you and said there's nothing wrong with you; you'll get better with medication. Treatment methods are very advanced both domestically and internationally, so there's no need to worry about it not being cured," Wu Ting said.

Whether he thought the same thing or not, only Wu Ting knew.

Zhou Ruian, unsure whether to believe him or not, snorted, "Cheng Zhuo is, after all, my son. Don't make a big fuss."

"Yes," Wu Ting replied.

He thought to himself: This old man already knew who did it, so why did he pretend to be a loving father to visit him in the hospital? He flew all the way from the capital just to see if his eldest son was dead or still of any use.

While dealing with the situation, he also had to protect his second son; he couldn't let go of either of them.

"Also, I asked you to find out where his mother took the things back then. Is there any progress?" Zhou Ruian's cold gaze swept over us.

"The item isn't in Zhou Zheng's hands; he seems to know nothing about it," Wu Ting replied.

Zhou Ruian gripped the seat in front of him tightly, his fingers sinking deep into it until his knuckles ached.

That old man really hid it well; he didn't even let his grandson know.

If Zhou Zheng really knew about that thing, would he still act as if he had no desire for the company? He would probably fight tooth and nail to take back what belonged to his mother.
