Night Rose

Chapter 59 Heartbeat Foul

Back at Su Jin's house, Zhou Zheng was preparing seafood in the kitchen, while Su Jin was making a video call to Ling Keke from the balcony.

On the other end of the phone, Ling Keke was still lying in bed, listening to Su Jin speak.

Ling Keke was stunned after hearing the whole story. She sat up abruptly, her voice almost shattering the phone.

"What?! Is Lu Mingzhou going to get himself killed?! He actually altered your data, and even modified the race car?! Doesn't he know that's illegal?!"

Su Jin hissed and moved her phone a little further away, her expression remaining calm and composed.

"I don't think it's necessarily him who did it. Think about it, he's been talking to me for five years. If he wanted to do something like this, why didn't he do it sooner? He's the tournament manager. When something goes wrong with the tournament, he's the first person to be held accountable. He has no reason to do this, but he's definitely involved in this matter."

"So, he came back to China to find you just to delete the data! To cover up the truth, he must be doing this for someone else."

"You tell me, is it his teasy junior sister? Oh dear, I told you long ago that there was something wrong with his junior sister, but you wouldn't believe me!" Ling Keke looked full of regret.

Su Jin paused for a moment, then she remembered Lu Mingzhou's junior sister, Xu Jingyi.

When Hsu Ching-yi joined Topchain, she worked as an intern learning from their engineers. At the time, everyone joked that Topchain was about to have a second female engineer.

Su Jin mentored her for a while, but judging from her skill level, she was simply not qualified to be an engineer at Topchain.

But because she was Lu Mingzhou's junior sister, Su Jin took good care of her, organized a lot of information for her, and even made the computer data public to her.

Lu Mingzhou was even more anxious than his junior sister. Seeing that Su Jin was too busy, he found another engineer to mentor Xu Jingyi.

Su Jin had no objections. She was already very busy. During the preparation phase for the New York Rally, she had been working with driver Li to get the car in sync. With one less intern, she was happy to relax.

She was just too busy during that time and overlooked something: her boyfriend and her lover weren't getting too close anymore. Everyone was keeping it from her, so she didn't even realize it.

"I didn't pay attention to this matter during that time... It was my negligence." Su Jin covered her forehead and sighed deeply.

Ling Keke said urgently, "This has nothing to do with you! If a man wants to cheat, can you stop him? The most important thing now is to go to New York and confront them! You have evidence; as long as TopChain pulls up the surveillance video, you can prove your innocence!"

"That's right, I'm just waiting for Li to wake up. Once he wakes up, I'll go back to New York," Su Jin said.

Ling Keke looked at her curiously, "Why don't you go back right away? If you wait until he wakes up, you'll miss the opportunity."

Su Jin opened her mouth and then closed it again. She secretly glanced in the direction of the kitchen, and her best friend immediately caught her out.

"Goddess Su Su, what are you looking at?! Is someone in the kitchen?" Ling Keke immediately jumped up, wishing she could crawl out from behind the phone and run to her kitchen to see which man it was.

Su Jin quickly made a shushing gesture, "Grandma, keep your voice down! Are you catching a thief?"

"Confess immediately!" Ling Keke said sternly.

They were best friends and always talked about everything. Su Jin didn't intend to hide anything from her, so she coughed lightly and said, "It's that race car driver."

Ling Keke's expression was a mix of emotions, her features almost coming together in a wide grin. "No way, sister, he still has to cook for you after winning the championship? Hahaha, this little brother is so well-behaved!"

"Good boy?" Su Jin repeated strangely, then, thinking of Zhou Zheng's mischievous face, she retorted mercilessly, "He's not good at all."

"Let me see what she looks like. She's already cooking at your house, so I guess I've won her over, right?" Ling Keke grinned mischievously on the other end of the screen.

Just then, Zhou Zheng came out wearing an ill-fitting apron, his eyes downcast, his sleeves rolled up to reveal a section of his arm, looking every bit the perfect stay-at-home husband.

Su Jin was so engrossed in watching that when she heard Ling Keke cough deliberately, she quickly covered the receiver.

"Still not finished your call?" Zhou Zheng asked as he untied his apron and walked over.

Su Jin was anxious to hang up the phone, and in her haste, she accidentally flipped the camera, revealing Zhou Zheng's narrow waist, long legs, and arrogant face in the frame.

Even through the screen, you could see Ling Keke's shock.

Before Ling Keke could scream, Su Jin quickly pressed the hang-up button and then breathed a sigh of relief.

"It's over!" Su Jin smiled.

My phone was suddenly flooded with message notifications.

Su Jin pressed the volume buttons a few times to mute the sound!

"Let's eat." Zhou Zheng walked up to her and raised his hand.

Whether it was Ling Keke's words that had stirred her heartstrings or not, she suddenly felt nervous upon seeing Zhou Zheng's handsome face.

With a flick of his wrist, Zhou Zheng plucked a small yellow flower from her head.

"It floated down from upstairs."

Su Jin blinked. This was too much! How could this man talk so close to her?

Fortunately, Zhou Zheng didn't continue to break the rules. He picked the flower and moved aside, indicating that she should go eat.

Su Jin suppressed her wildly beating heart and secretly touched her cheek. Thankfully, it wasn't burning hot!

On the table was a pot of durian stewed chicken, a pot of seafood in broth, and a plate of stir-fried water spinach.

Freshly peeled durians and cherries are placed together as dessert.

The clean stemmed glasses were indeed beautiful, clear and attractive. As the red wine rolled down, its delicate aroma wafted through the glass.

"Wishing our race car driver a successful championship!" Su Jin raised her wine glass, her face beaming with excitement.

Zhou Zheng, on the other hand, was much calmer. "I wish Engineer Su's modified race car a resounding victory."

He clinked glasses with Su Jin and drank the red wine in his glass in one gulp.

As he put down his glass, he saw Su Jin's fair neck raised across from him, a drop of red wine sliding down her lips, following the curve of her neck, and disappearing into her collar.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he poured himself another glass of wine.

Su Jin talked about today's race. The two chatted about their racing experiences while eating. Occasionally, Su Jin would tell him some gossip, which made Zhou Zheng's shoulders shake with laughter.

A bottle of red wine was quickly emptied, and a blush rose on Su Jin's face.

"Something's not right, does this liquor have an alcohol content?"

Zhou Zheng leaned on the table, squinting at the wine bottle. "Red wine certainly has an alcohol content, and this bottle is quite strong."

His face and lower abdomen also burned.

It wasn't just the alcohol that had an effect, but also the two main dishes on the table. Durian and oysters—the combination of these two ingredients was incredibly nourishing.

"Zhou Zheng." Su Jin called his name, her voice soft and alluring.

She suddenly stood up and walked towards Zhou Zheng. Her vision was blurry and she couldn't see clearly. She fell into his arms.

The veins on Zhou Zheng's forehead throbbed as he helped Su Jin walk toward her room. Before they had taken more than a few steps, Su Jin pressed him down onto the sofa.

"Zhou Zheng, do you... like me? You still haven't answered me last time." Su Jin pressed down on him, her hands not idle either, touching his face, looking affectionate, but actually almost drunk.
