Wizard's Journey
Chapter 1956 Sandstorm World
Chapter 1954 Sandstorm World
call……
The vast expanse of yellow sand is not only a world of sand, but also a space of storms. In this seemingly barren desert, fear reigns supreme beneath the dunes, attacking any life on their surface.
In the vast desert, oases are the cradle of life, and different nations and civilizations have been established around them, where they have thrived and multiplied.
Water, the world's most important resource!
The value of water lies not only in its ability to nurture life and nourish all living things, but also in its role in this world ruled by fear beneath the endless yellow sand. It is the only thing that makes the fear beneath the sand retreat for those fragile, insignificant, and humble humans.
Buzz buzz buzz!
Four mechanical devices, each over ten meters long, floated across the desert like sailboats. However, due to limitations in mechanical power and other factors, these devices could only float about a meter off the ground, and their speed was relatively slow.
Although the magic crystal technology in this world has made great strides, the noise from the progress of the desert ships is still quite loud, inevitably making them targets for sand worms under the sand. However, these desert ships have their necessary purpose: to bring essential luxury goods and intelligence to the royal families, nobles, and wealthy merchants of different oasis kingdoms, facilitating the exchange of goods and resources.
"Hey, stop!"
At the bow of the Desert Ship, a shaman wrapped in a white cloth suddenly shouted towards the bridge. As the best-looking people in the oasis, every shaman is the guarantee that the Desert Ship will safely reach its destination.
Beep!
With a low whistle, the lead ship of the Desert Ship convoy stopped, and the three Desert Ships following behind quickly came to a halt as well. The panicked crew members rushed to the high-pressure water cannon, their pale faces covered in cold sweat, their breaths trembling, their expressions a mixture of terror and ferocity, and they were on high alert.
"How many have arrived? What's the highest level of the emergency response? How much water do we have left?"
The portly merchant stepped onto the deck and ran out with heavy footsteps, his panting echoing across the deck. His hand, gripping a folding fan, trembled uncontrollably.
"We still have 720 gallons of stored water, enough to deal with sandworms that are ten meters long!"
After inspecting the water tank, the water cannon commander shouted to the water gunners, "On my orders, set the water pressure to thirty knots! Don't panic, don't waste a single drop of water! Wait until the sandworms are close before firing!"
The people on board were terrified, and the faint sobbing of the crew members on their first long voyage could be heard from below deck.
Only then did Shaf, who was in charge of observing the danger, run down from the high platform at the bow of the ship and say to the merchants and the head steward: "It's not sandworms, it's people. Two people seem to have fainted. If we don't rescue them, even if they aren't eaten by sandworms, they'll be roasted alive by the desert."
"people!?"
Upon hearing this, not only the merchants and the steward, but everyone else breathed a sigh of relief.
The merchants and the steward followed Saff to the bow of the ship and looked in the direction Saff pointed. They could vaguely see two figures lying on the sand dune, wrapped in white satin. They must have fainted from dehydration and were motionless.
Upon seeing this, the merchant slowly said, "This is the meeting point of desert ships from various countries, and also a gathering place for sand worms. It seems that these two people were thrown off the ship and forgotten here after their desert ship was attacked, and they passed out. Fortunately, they were unconscious, so there was no noise or vibration, otherwise they would have been swallowed by the sand worms nearby by now."
Clearly more concerned with his own goods and not wanting to cause trouble, the merchant said, "Let's go. People die in the desert every day. We are not saviors. They should have been prepared to die when they left the oasis. Sandworms are the true masters of the desert."
The steward and the others clearly favored the merchant's choice, but at that moment, Schaaf chimed in, "There's a woman."
"woman!?"
Immediately, the merchant realized that something was amiss.
The ship of the desert traverses the desert, where death and danger are ever-present. Women are generally not allowed on board unless they are private servants. Such women often have extraordinary status and may even be royalty!
If that's the case, saving this woman would be worth more than the cargo on his four ships.
"Quick, get them up here!"
Without hesitation, the most influential merchant on the desert ship gave the order, directing the crew's actions while whispering to the steward, who then seemed to have suddenly understood.
A dozen minutes later.
Millie and Green, dressed in gorgeous silk, were rescued by the Desert Ship and moved into the most comfortable room in the cabin. After being given some water, Millie was the first to wake up.
After leaving the Garbage World, Grimm and Millie appeared underground in the Desert World and learned about the basic structure of the Sandstorm World from the deceased King of Insect Killers, which is the relationship between various civilizations and sandworms.
In this world, all energy originates from a mineral found in the desert: sand crystals.
Sand crystals come in different qualities, but mining them comes with the risk of being preyed upon by sand worms. These are terrifying creatures that burrow into the sand and gravel, ranging in size from one or two meters to tens of meters. They are similar to giant earthworms, but far more terrifying. They rely on hearing and skin vibration resonance to sense things and hide under the dunes year-round, attacking nearby creatures. As a result, all deserts are shrouded in the terror of these killing insects.
Strangely, these incomparably terrifying creatures in the desert have an irresistible fear of water, or rather, it is more than just fear; it is a deadly poison. Water can easily corrode the acidic fats behind the hardened keratin layer of sandworm skin, melting everything about them. This is why various tribes were able to establish kingdoms in the oases.
However, in recent years, these sandworms that rule the desert have begun to be plagued by a parasite and their numbers have decreased considerably. Therefore, the king of the sandworms tried to communicate with the other world to find a solution.
As the eternal ruler of the Sandstorm World and the ultimate embodiment of terror, the Sandworm King certainly considered that these parasites did not appear out of nowhere, nor were they the result of natural evolution. This was a conspiracy, a conspiracy against the Sandworms, a conspiracy against the ruler of this world, and a challenge to the top predators of this world's food chain!
Unfortunately, before the Sandworm King could devise a countermeasure, it was destroyed by the unexpected actions of Grimm and Millie.
Wherever these two masters of life go, that place becomes a paradise for their experiments.
"My esteemed lady, judging from your appearance, you must have been unconscious on the sand dunes for half a day. I am the one who saved you. Let me introduce myself. I am Shanggu Yitman from Heze Lou Ancient City, and this is my second son, Nita. I am very happy to see you awaken again."
Looking at the dignified and elegant Millie before him, Nita, the second son of Itman, who was in the prime of his life, couldn't help but say, "Beautiful lady, you are the noblest and most sacred woman I have ever seen. Even the royal family cannot compare to you. If I could have your name, I would be willing to be your most loyal follower and accompany you on this trip."
Millie glanced at Green, who was still feigning unconscious, and said with a sorrowful and plaintive tone, "I was a princess of the Kingdom of Luolou, but now that's history. After the water source dried up, we lost our home, we lost everything, and now we've even lost our ship of the desert, leaving only one servant. If you hadn't saved me this time, I'm afraid even the history of the Kingdom of Luolou would have been lost, sob sob sob..."
Upon hearing this, merchant Yitman's expression changed, and he looked disappointed.
On the contrary, his second son, Nita, had bright, expectant eyes.
