Wizard's Journey

Chapter 1959 4-Ring Statue

Chapter 1957 The Four Rings Statue

"Let's build a little hut right here."

After the merchant fleet of the Desert Ships gradually sailed away and disappeared into the depths of the oasis, Millie pointed to the dry, hard earth not far away and said.

Grimm, dressed like a local from a desert world, was wrapped in white gauze, with only his eyes showing. He glanced at the thorny grass that was everywhere around him with a backhand. With a "clang," the grass was found to be quite hard. The harsh and arid conditions of the desert had given these plants a very strong vitality.

"here?"

Green countered with a question, puzzled, "Why not go inside the city walls? The living conditions here are far too harsh for our current level of life."

Millie, however, said, "We can build a house here, find water, find food, and do everything we can to survive. Using our limited life force and the most basic knowledge of wizards, we can learn the survival methods of lower creatures from scratch and experience the meaning of survival for lower creatures."

Green looked around at the bushes and thorns. Given their hardness, if he could cut them down one by one, they would be excellent materials for building a log cabin. However, the bushes and thorns here were so hard that it was a difficult task.

After thinking for a moment, Green said, "Ahead lies an oasis, surrounded by desert. The temperature here is higher than in the desert, which will create a high-pressure zone in the Isulman region. Cool winds carrying moisture will spread outwards, while hot, dry air currents at high altitudes will replenish the region, creating a thermal cycle. With the limited rules we can currently manipulate..."

As if deep in thought, Green said, "In the early morning when the temperature is lowest each day, by facing the cold and damp air currents and collecting water at even lower temperatures, we can gather enough water resources. And since water is the most influential universal currency in this world, we can use water as a starting point to trade with the city-states and complete the survival under the harsh conditions of the world's earliest days."

Without magic and without superhuman strength, they lost the fulcrum that wizards used to manipulate the rules. All Grimm and Millie could do was make the most of nature.

Millie looked up at the sun in the sky, then, avoiding the gusts of hot wind, she and Green came to the shade of a thorny bush about three meters tall. With a satisfied look on her face, she pointed to the thorny bush and said, "Let's do it here. Maybe in just twenty or thirty years, there will be a continuous grove of bushes in front of our door, and we might even be able to build a village."

Millie thought about it happily.

"You didn't become the Tower Master, but want to experience being the Village Chief?"

Green made a joke.

……

Seven days later.

In the world of sandstorms, besides water resources, containers for storing water are also extremely precious resources. Although containers cannot generate water resources, they can make one invincible when water resources are most scarce and precious during droughts. The reason why the royal families of various oasis civilizations became royal families is because they possessed the largest containers: lakes!

Fortunately, it was a dry season, and the bag of water that Green and Millie brought, though small in quantity, was truly pure water. Compared to the so-called "water" that the poor quenched their thirst with cactus juice or fern root juice, it was extremely precious.

The streets were nearly deserted, with people listlessly seeking shade. Giant cacti were the most prominent plants in the city. These plants, which contained a lot of water, had not only had all their thorns removed, but were also covered with various holes, all caused by thirsty people inserting tubes to suck the water for a long time.

The shop owner was a thin, shrewd old man wearing a gray hat. He poured a few drops of water from the water bag Millie handed him, tasted it with a cotton swab, and then nodded with a very satisfied expression.

"Distilled and purified water, no magazines listed, not bad. What would you like to exchange it for?"

This bag of purified water may not mean much to wealthy merchants, but it is a considerable fortune for ordinary people. As he spoke, the old man took out a price list, which included a series of various supplies.

"Fifty sea buckthorn fruits, five kilograms of dried mutton, a duckbill hoe, and three water gourds."

After Green selected the most needed supplies, the old man frowned and said, "No, your water isn't enough unless you leave this leather bag here too."

The leather bag was a gift from Nitta to Millie; it was very finely made with double-layered security inside and out. In contrast, Green's bag was much simpler, and the old man didn't even like it.

Frowning, Green tossed a red stone onto the table with a "thud," his drab hand landing in a low voice. "It was something I dug up occasionally. Although it's just the lowest grade defective product, making up the price difference shouldn't be a problem."

A moment later, Green, carrying the goods, was about to leave, satisfied, but Millie stopped him.

"Since we're already here, wouldn't it be a waste not to take a stroll around the Palace Square?"

Every oasis is a relatively low-lying area in a region, which allows it to store enough water during the short rainy season to prevent evaporation during the dry season and avoid the oasis from drying up and being attacked by sandworms.

In the world of sandstorms, there is no concept of pollution. Desert Ships build factories and other workshops, mostly located within the royal palace and noble territories. This makes them easier to manage and safer. Although the oasis city-states are relatively safe, they are not absolutely safe. Occasionally, some indiscriminate sandworms will wander in, causing casualties.

The population around Green and Millie gradually increased, and the buildings changed from earthen structures to brick and stone structures.

The two walked around and looked around, immersing themselves in the world of these lower life forms. From the rumbling, buzzing factory, they could vaguely see people moving about, very densely packed, and most of them were children.

"With cheap labor, if this world had more abundant natural resources, or if a cataclysmic change in the rules of nature caused a large-scale extinction of sandworms, leading to a qualitative leap in information exchange and technology, there might have been a chance to achieve world unification. Right now, although sandworms are at the top of the food chain in this world, they cannot advance any further due to their collective intelligence and evolutionary deficiencies."

Green still observes everything in this world with the eyes of a higher being.

Meanwhile, Millie, who had been walking and looking around, suddenly stopped, looked up at a statue, and frowned, saying, "Green, look at this statue, don't you think it looks like someone?"

"Someone?"

Green glanced at the statue Millie was pointing to a few more times, then shook his head and asked, "Who does it look like?"

"I think he's a bit like a fourth-ring True Spirit Wizard, don't you think?"

Millie’s words startled Green, and upon closer inspection, he found that the expression on the statue was indeed somewhat similar!
