Wizard's Journey

Chapter 2015 Abyss Battlefield

Chapter 2013 Abyss Battlefield (Thirty-Eight)

three days later.

As more and more wizard legions arrived at the temporary airport, thousands of official wizards, tens of thousands of slave monsters and metal robots, and countless supplies were used to build various defensive facilities and mechanically powered airships, finally protecting the airport completely. The defensive perimeter had expanded to the surrounding city ruins, and the thousands of Predator legions that had been responsible for seizing the city ruins to build the temporary airport became vassals of the wizards.

The vast temporary airfield was quickly transformed into a circle by the demon hunter wizards who built fifteen Light Fortresses. These fortresses, each with a maximum attack power of 5,000 degrees, were enough to pose a fatal threat to mature Abyssal Dragons. Coupled with numerous wizard legions and a plethora of futuristic weapons, the temporary base was considered safe for the time being. However, some Abyssal monsters were still scattered throughout the city ruins, requiring lower-level wizards to further clear them out and expand the defensive perimeter, awaiting the arrival of the sealing wizards.

"Anna, aren't you planning to act alone?"

Having fought together for the past few days, this Skynet wizard named Loca, with his astonishing combat power, had become acquainted with Anna. Seeing that Anna had not yet left the base and was constantly asking questions of the Predator responsible for guarding it, he stepped forward and took the initiative to strike up a conversation.

The air was filled with the hum of mechanical vehicles and combat aircraft. Huge mechanical puppets and slave monsters were everywhere. In the chaotic war base, Carlo looked at the cold and arrogant elemental demon hunter dark wizard in front of him and felt a strange feeling. He never dreamed that he would feel this way about a lone demon hunter dark wizard.

He certainly hadn't considered that the reason for this was some kind of ancient dark magic ability that Anna had practiced.

Anna, unsurprisingly, didn't get the information she wanted from the Predator garrison. After seeing that it was Carlo, and then looking at the dozen or so wizards behind him, she said with a hint of melancholy, "I chose to come here because I also have my own special mission. But now, after experiencing real combat, not only am I clueless about the mission, but how to complete it has also become a kind of despair."

Rather than feeling somewhat disappointed, Anna clearly recognized the terrifying nature of those abyssal demons.

According to intelligence, the number of Abyss Demons in this world is at most a hundred, but the wars they can cause require such a large army to deal with. It has to be said that from the perspective of evolutionary history, these Abyss Demons have indeed reached an inconceivable level.

"Could you tell me about your task?"

As if taking a stroll at dusk, Loca asked tentatively.

Beneath her dark wizard's robes, Anna paused slightly, hesitated, and slowly said, "Due to some special circumstances, I need to hunt down an abyss demon to prove my abilities and gain the recognition of the wizard's will!"

Turning his head, Loca was filled with astonishment. Such a thing was possible? Didn't that mean that as long as this task was completed, he could advance to the rank of Saint Mark Wizard?

"Personally hunting down a demon from the abyss?"

Loca stopped and muttered to himself in deep thought. After a while, he analyzed, "If it's a head-on collision, among the level three archmages, apart from the extremely rare top-tier archmages who might have a chance, any level three archmages appearing alone in front of the abyss demons would undoubtedly be courting death. You've seen the combat power of those mature abyss dragons; they're stronger than the abyss dragons in the wizarding world. We're already struggling to deal with just a few on our own, while the abyss demons can easily control dozens of them to assist in combat even without using abyss summoning, and there are countless mutated abyss monsters assisting from the side."

After a pause, Carlo continued, "So, you really only have one chance, and that is to learn from the ancient wizards and carry out assassinations when the wizard legion and the abyss legion are facing off. That is your only chance."

Roca's words struck a chord with Anna, as this was exactly the feasible plan she had been thinking about.

Realizing that Anna had taken his words to heart, Roca turned around and said, "Come with me."

Instinctively, Anna followed Roca as they flew out of the airport's defense perimeter. They quickly traversed the city ruins where explosions occasionally echoed, arriving at a polluted abyss filled with jagged rocks, towering trees, and withered branches. Through the collapsed mountains, Anna could vaguely see what appeared to be former mining equipment. Puzzled, she asked, "Why did you bring me here?"

Loca simply took out a large number of low-level metal robot capsules, activated these metal robots, and then began digging at the collapsed mine boulders. He said with serious concern, "The invasion of the abyss monsters three days ago was not a coincidence, but a battle commanded by the abyss demons. According to the clues, at least for a period of time, that abyss demon stayed here!"

"here!?"

Anna calmed down, her eyes beneath her wizard's robe cloak fixed on the mine where the metal robots were digging. Wisps of demonic energy, extremely pure, emanated from the cracks in the rubble, far surpassing the abyssal demonic energy naturally released by the abyssal moss scattered everywhere.

After about half an hourglass period.

The mine had been completely excavated. Loca led Anna into the mine and wandered around for a while before stopping in a relatively dry area. The abyssal demonic energy here was almost misty, so the visibility was probably less than half a meter. It was so dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

"This is it. Since the sealing wizard hasn't arrived yet, and wizards of equal rank have almost no effect on the curses of the Abyss Demons, I personally covered up this mine pit. But I know that Abyss Demon is still nearby. He's definitely not willing to leave like this and could launch a counterattack against our temporary base at any time!"

Roca's words sent a chill down Anna's spine. Imagining that her battle three days ago had been conducted under the watchful eyes of others, she simply couldn't remain calm.

"Then why didn't it use the Abyss Summoning? With the power we gained three days ago, if it..."

Loca shook his head.

"The Abyssal Demons must also abide by the law of conservation of energy, and the Abyssal Dragons cannot be summoned out of thin air! This world has been in constant conflict between the Abyssal Demons and the Iron-Blooded Legion, and its time of being corrupted by the Abyssal demons is relatively short, not yet producing enough Abyssal Dragons. Even if there are some, they are merely young dragons. These adult Abyssal Dragons are remnants left over from the invasion, so if they want to perform Abyssal Summoning, they can only summon them from other dimensions. I think this Abyssal Demon is probably not ready yet, or... the Abyssal Demons in other dimensions have also been exhausted!"

A brief silence fell over the mine. Regardless of the circumstances, it was now certain that an abyssal dragon was lurking nearby, ready to launch a fatal attack at any moment!

"Let's go back."

Anna cautiously sensed her surroundings and spoke carefully.

"kindness."

As Loca agreed, he said in a low voice, "So, if you want to complete the mission, you might as well choose to hunt down this Abyss Demon. When it attacks the base, when its Abyss Summoning is at its strongest, according to the records, it is also when its power is severely depleted and its individual strength is at its weakest, that's when you can launch a fatal attack."

After a brief exchange, a plan to hunt down the Abyss Demons was formed between the two.

However, after such a long period of time, although the overall strength of the wizards has undergone tremendous changes, the most effective way to deal with the Abyss Demons is still to adopt the ancient method of the wizards in the Second Civilization War: to attract the Abyss Summoning of the Formless Ancient Demons with a large-scale army and carry out the assassination under great danger when their individual strength is weakened!

"So, are you confident?"

Back at base, numerous searchlights illuminated it as if it were daytime. In the dim light, the green eyes of the slave monsters standing guard flickered faintly, and the infrared night vision devices of the metal robots also probed towards them. Loca, looking at Anna who had remained silent the entire way, asked with concern, "How was it? Confident?"

Suck……

Anna took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "My title is the Mystery of the Moonshadow, and I graduated from the Shadow Wizard Academy of the Tower of Oblivion. In any case, this will be my most precious opportunity!"
