Wizard's Journey

Chapter 2016 Abyss Battlefield

Chapter 2014 Abyss Battlefield (Thirty-Nine)

A strange phenomenon.

The level-three archmages at the temporary base knew perfectly well that an abyssal demon was lurking nearby and could launch a fatal attack on the base at any moment. Therefore, they were making preparations in all aspects in secret. However, after the wizards had completed the initial construction of the temporary base's defensive perimeter, they did not stop there. Instead, they began to conduct a large-scale investigation of the area around the base, even though they knew that an abyssal demon was lurking in the dark.

Anna's inner thoughts are even stranger.

Although the wizards were prepared for a possible invasion, deep down they did not want such an invasion to happen. Anna, however, was different. As she strolled on the hard infrastructure of the airport, Anna secretly looked forward to the possible invasion of the abyssal demons!

……

Four days later.

In the Lightning-Struck Wood World, wizards have opened up over a hundred temporary bases similar to Anna's, and countless smaller ones. Standing on the edge of the space fortress above the clouds, the Frost Fang Saint Mark wizard overlooks this world. One wizard base after another seems to be blossoming and bearing fruit, vying for territory with the Abyss Demons in every corner of the Lightning-Struck Wood World.

"Six seeded third-level wizards who graduated from the Annihilation Tower Wizard Academy. If even one of them succeeds in hunting a demon, that would be incredibly lucky. If I had known that the higher-ups would allocate so many resources to the academy founded by the first Wizard King, I should have sent those two little guys there as well. Back when I advanced to the Saint Mark Wizard level, I don't know how much effort I put in, just to be recognized by the will of the wizarding world."

As the Frostfang Saint Mark Wizard muttered to himself, suddenly, a Dawn Wisdom Archmage, leaning on his magic staff, appeared before him via elemental teleportation. The Archmage produced a crystal ball and projected a message onto a screen: "Honorable Frostfang Saint Mark Wizard, the temporary base located at coordinates XXD3660, SZW3728, DJPP32233 has been attacked by three Abyss Demons who have launched an Abyss Summoning. Preliminary estimates suggest over three hundred mature Abyss Dragons. We urgently request support from the Space Fortress's Destruction Cannon. This is the information on the wizards at this base, along with resource allocation and strategic elements."

"This base has really had bad luck to suffer such a large-scale attack after only seven days of operation."

Frost Fang casually flipped through the base's information directory. Such support requests were occurring almost every hourglass. However, the Space Fortress Destruction Cannon was extremely resource-intensive to activate, directly affecting the rewards for completing the Stigmata Wizard's mission. Therefore, except for critical moments concerning the course of the battle, most of the support was just a formality, at most providing some other forms of assistance.

This time, the Frostfang Stigmata Wizard was just about to go through the motions of dispatching a few improved space fortresses to provide support when he suddenly noticed the words "Anna, the Shadow Wizard of the Moon Shadow Mystery" on the light screen. With a soft sound, the Frostfang Stigmata Wizard enlarged Anna's information and carefully reviewed the situation of the attack on the demons, calmly asking, "How are the situations of the descending Stigmata? Have they requested fortress support?"

"not yet."

The Dawn Wisdom Wizard glanced up at the Frost Fang Saint Mark Wizard. Was this more than just a formality?

"kindness."

The Frostfang Stigmata Wizard nodded, his voice firm and resolute: "Since it was three Abyss Demons who launched such a large-scale Abyss Summoning attack, and since the other Stigmata Wizards have not requested any assistance, and this base has arranged for the Black Terminator to assist in completing the secret plan to search for the Abyss Nest, I hereby declare my approval of this request for support. The Space Fortress will immediately provide destructive artillery support."

After speaking, Frostfang pressed his index finger to his forehead, left his will information in the Dawn Wisdom Wizard's Crystal Ball, and then proactively communicated with the Heart of the Fortress, announcing the support plan to the Fortress Command.

Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz...

Red and blue lights flashed continuously at a high frequency, accompanied by urgent alarms. The Skynet broadcast repeatedly notified the Space Fortress's Destruction Cannon of its energy charging status. The fortress's garrison wizards rushed to their battle posts to prevent enemy attacks during the Space Fortress's weakened phase when it was not protected by wizard shields after a large-scale energy cannon eruption.

71%, 72%, 73%...

As the Destruction Cannon accumulated more and more power, its massive muzzle slowly emerged from the steel gate that opened at the base of the fortress, gradually creating a terrifying pressure.

……

Anna's base.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom...

After three brief attacks by the hourglass, only three of the fifteen Light Fortresses remained in operation. The protective barrier built on the city ruins in seven days was torn to shreds by the Abyss Legion. Thousands of Abyss Dragons rose into the air and wreaked havoc, including at least two hundred colossal creatures over thirty meters long. The wizards guarding the base were left with nothing but despair.

"Evil, evil, evil, evil!"

Gazing at the source of the evil laughter amidst the dense, dark demonic energy, Loka stood on the airport ground, his expression bitter. Although he had made ample preparations for this attack, when the three abyssal demons surrounded the base from all directions, Loka finally realized that his and the other great wizards' so-called preparations were still too naive.

Anna's Moonshadow Mystery has been underway for some time, but in a battlefield where the abyssal monsters are so rampant that regular wizard legions are almost powerless against them, attempting to assassinate an abyssal monster is virtually a death sentence.

As for the low-level wizards who wanted to break through the encirclement of the Abyss Dragon by flying vehicles, they were all caught up by the mature Abyss Dragon, whose astonishingly large and powerful physique easily tore these flying vehicles apart, leaving only metal wreckage scattered all over the ground.

Those young wizards who grew up in the Eternal Sky City and had never actually been on the battlefield were terrified. Some could only stand there trembling, or hide in metal chariots, praying not to be discovered by the rampaging abyssal monsters. Their excellent grades in the academy had long since vanished. Their combat strength was worlds apart from that of the ancient wizards who had been cruelly selected.

"When I officially embarked on the Demon Hunter Expedition and landed in the Eternal Sky City, I was merely a second-level wizard. Now, I'm only one step away from advancing to the Saintly Mark, yet I'm destined to perish in this small, blood-soaked star world at the very beginning of the war?"

Loca clenched his fists, his eyes filled with resentment. Compared to Anna, he was the stronger and more promising wizard, and he still had a long way to go.

Beep beep beep beep beep.

Just then, an urgent alarm sounded from the crystal balls of all the wizards on the battlefield. Instinctively, they took out their crystal balls, and when they saw the message read in the crystal balls, Loca's eyes suddenly narrowed and his head trembled.

"Spatial Fortress Destruction Cannon support is imminent. Base wizards, please take refuge in the safe coordinate area. Wizard Legion support will arrive in the next half hourglass. Please establish battlefield defense perimeter after the Destruction Cannon support arrives."

In an instant, Roca's facial expressions were incredibly varied.

"Great, we're saved!"

Feeling a tiny sense of crisis from escaping death, Loca stared in the direction of the abyssal demonic energy that Anna had entered. If she was still alive, as long as he could seize this opportunity, there was still hope!

……

The World of Lightning-Struck Wood, overseen by seven Stigmata Wizards, is merely one of dozens of battlefields simultaneously opened by a Seven-Ring True Spirit Wizard.

On the distribution map of the Ironblood Galaxy World Cluster constructed by quantum computer simulation, the Abyss Battlefield occupies roughly one-fifth of this world cluster. Of these one-fifth of worlds, half are under the responsibility of the Wizard Alliance, which then distributes them to first-ring True Spirit Wizards and then to seventh-ring True Spirit Wizards. There are approximately one hundred worlds that need to rebuild their order.

The Seventh Ring True Spirit Wizard rubbed his brows. His long white eyebrows were his favorite feature. The touch of menthol oil on his brows and temples gave him an indescribable feeling of refreshment.

hiss……

Taking a deep breath, feeling refreshed, the Seventh Ring True Spirit Wizard continued to survey the hundred-plus world clusters under his jurisdiction, waving his hand and saying, "Three months have passed. The first phase of the operational plan, using the two medium-sized worlds of Huimin and ALT as entry points, is now preliminarily complete. Any special reports on the thirty-three small world battlefields?"

The seventh-ring True Spirit Wizard fiddled with the light and shadow model of the quantum calculator. Pale blue light alternated, and as the scale of the void expanded and contracted, the world also changed size. As the scale of the void was enlarged to the maximum, the huge Iron Blood Galaxy Cluster rotated continuously as if it had three cantilever arms. Its scale was about three-fifths of the Wizarding World Cluster, and it was extremely beautiful.

At this moment, under the radiance projected by the quantum calculator, the vast world cluster seemed to be at his fingertips, under his control. The light blue radiance of the world cluster reflected from the pupils of the seventh-ring True Spirit Wizard was completely concealed by the greed, ambition, and desire released from the depths of his heart.

"The expedition to the Great Rain Peak world has encountered some problems. The local Ironblood regime is extremely uncooperative, and at one point, it even clashed with the descending wizards. We have already sent envoys to negotiate with the Thirteenth Ironblood Empress and have also sent an additional space fortress and three Saint-Stigma Wizards to descend there. In addition..."

After reporting for nearly a minute, the Stigmata Wizard finally said, "A level three wizard from the Lightningwood World has successfully completed the demon-hunting mission and is already on his way back to headquarters."

The seventh-ring True Spirit Wizard's gaze remained fixed on the quantum calculator's light and shadow simulator. As the light and shadow scale of the Ironblood World Cluster was adjusted, the densely packed, star-studded dots gradually transformed into individual worlds. The hundred or so worlds under the Seventh-Ring True Spirit Wizard's jurisdiction were merely a small area on the outermost edge of one of the World Cluster's cantilevered arms. There wasn't even a single large-scale world within this area, making it utterly insignificant compared to the entire World Cluster.

Even so, the plans of a seventh-ring True Spirit Wizard could easily cover dozens of worlds with a wave of his hand, a level of vision that was almost unimaginable to those low-level wizards and Stigmata Wizards.

"We only need to cultivate six Saint-Stigma Wizard Spacetime Node Seeds. There are over two thousand Level 3 Archmages here who graduated from the Annihilation Tower Wizard Academy. With this kind of ratio, making six shouldn't be a problem. Hmph, even if some uncontrollable accidents do occur, with the power of the First Wizard King, the Second Wizard King, and the Grand Commander of the Demon Hunting Expedition, it will surely become controllable!"

With a wave of his hand, he dispersed the light screen of the quantum computer simulation world, and the seventh-ring True Spirit Wizard turned and left the control room, followed by several Saint Mark Wizards.

As they walked, the seventh-ring True Spirit Wizard said, "The combat area next to us is under the jurisdiction of the eleventh-ring True Spirit Wizard, and there has been no news of the Abyss Demon Ancestor appearing there yet. Therefore, all progress must be based on the area under the jurisdiction of the eleventh-ring True Spirit Wizard. We cannot fall behind. Do you understand?"

"Yes."

The Stigmata Wizards responded tremblingly. Although this Seventh Ring True Spirit Wizard's temper had improved a lot in recent years, he was not always like this, especially when he heard those words about the great achievements of the previous Seventh Ring True Spirit Wizard!
