When Lu Zichuan pushed open the door to the editing room, Shen Zhiyi was stuck at an emotional point during a scene transition. She had just thought of a brilliant solution that would both maintain the restraint she wanted and resolve all the issues that Lu Zichuan had previously pointed out.

In front of her was a half-cold glass of water, and her open notebook was covered with dense writing, with three or four layers of deletions and revisions. She had used up half a notebook in just a few hours of overtime work.

Several camera angle diagrams were drawn in pencil in the margins, and next to some of the crossed-out areas, a line of very light writing read: "President Lu said it's redundant, delete it."

The timeline on the computer screen was stretched to its limit, with mountains of materials crammed into the track. She was wearing noise-canceling headphones and didn't hear the approaching footsteps at the door at all.

The Cantonese food box that Assistant Wang brought was still sitting quietly on the corner of the table, with the insulated bag still in place and the lid still on, looking particularly out of place in the cold light of the screens filling the room.

Her stomach was throbbing slightly, probably from the cold water she had just drunk, but she didn't even flinch. Her fingers flew across the mouse, completely absorbed in her work, as if she were carefully nurturing a newborn child, without the slightest distraction.

She didn't notice until Lu Zichuan stood behind her.

He didn't speak immediately. He lowered his eyes and first glanced at the notebook she had spread out on the table, then glanced at the clip she had just edited on her screen. It was the scene of her breakdown that he had previously complained about because "the pupil contraction was too stiff." She hadn't kept that deliberate expression. Instead, she had cut a close-up of the actor's fingertips unconsciously digging into the sofa seam, his knuckles turning white. The emotion was even more restrained and powerful than he had asked.

The plans that were repeatedly crossed out and rewritten, and the crooked notes, all proved how serious she had been.

His Adam's apple bobbed, and his eyes darkened.

He was right about her; she was always dedicated to her work.

His gaze fell on the wisp of hair on the top of her head that had stuck up because she had been looking down for so long, and his eyes softened for a moment. But the next second, when he glanced at the untouched food box, his jawline tightened again.

He took half a step forward and tapped his knuckles lightly twice on the empty table beside Shen Zhiyi.

Two clear "knock knock" sounds rang out in the quiet editing room, breaking the hum that filled the room.

Shen Zhiyi snapped back to reality. The sound of rain from the original film was still ringing in her ears from the headphones. She looked up and saw Lu Zichuan. She froze for a moment, then almost reflexively took off her headphones. Her hand instinctively pulled the notebook closer to her, as if afraid he would see the annotations about her. She then stood up straight, her back ramrod straight, her voice deliberately respectful.

"Mr. Lu, what brings you here? Are you here to check on the progress? I still have two transitions to adjust. I'll definitely send the final cut to your email before midnight, so it won't take up your time."

She paused, then added, in a manner perfectly appropriate for a superior-subordinate relationship: "If you're busy, you can reply first, and I'll send it to you as soon as I've finished revising it."

She addressed him as "General Manager Lu" repeatedly, and every word she uttered revolved around work, without a trace of personal affection. She clearly categorized him as her superior and distanced herself from him.

Lu Zichuan's gaze darkened. He could hear the distance in her words, but seeing her standing there, not avoiding him like she had a few days ago, he inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.

He didn't know if Lu Ziyang's method was right or wrong, but for now, as long as she didn't hide, even if she called him so formally, it was better than her not even seeing him.

He twitched his fingertips, intending to reach out and press down the stray lock of her hair, but he abruptly pulled his hand back halfway up, rubbed it against the seam of his suit trousers, and then spoke with a stern face, his voice slightly softer than it had been in the office, but still maintaining the air of a superior: "Eat your food first."

Shen Zhiyi then remembered that Assistant Wang had brought food over earlier.

Her gaze swept over the food box, which was still perfectly intact. Even through the box, she could smell the aroma inside. But right now, her mind was completely focused on editing. She didn't want to let go of even a fraction of the inspiration she had finally gotten.

"I'm not hungry..."

"Work is important, but health is important too. Don't let me be accused of mistreating my subordinates when I can't deliver the film."

Seeing that she was trying to find a reason to refuse, Lu Zichuan rubbed his temples and deliberately spoke in a cold voice.

"But......"

Shen Zhi was somewhat dissatisfied with his directness. He had clearly ordered her to submit a new editing plan by today, and now he was delaying her overtime work.

She didn't eat to meet his deadline, but in his eyes, it became a misunderstanding that he was mistreating his subordinates? What kind of robber logic is that?

Lu Zichuan stopped looking at her, as if he was afraid that if he looked at her any longer, he would soften and lose his composure.

He reached out and picked up the food box that was already half cold, then turned and went into the break room attached to the editing room.

He was still wearing that tailor-made suit. Such a distinguished person should have been standing under the spotlight, giving orders, or sitting in a conference room, strategizing and planning.

But at this moment, the way he held the food box and bent down to adjust the microwave oven's temperature didn't feel out of place at all; instead, it exuded a kind of comforting warmth that made one's heart tighten.

That scene instantly overlapped with my memory of him cooking in the kitchen, wearing an apron.

Shen Zhiyi bit her lower lip, gripped the mouse tightly with her fingertips, and forced herself to stuff those inappropriate memories back into the trash can of her mind.

Two minutes later, Lu Zichuan returned with the heated food container.

Without saying a word, he stretched out his long arm and quickly tidied up the notebooks, pens, and documents that were scattered in front of Shen Zhiyi, stacking them neatly to the side.

He then placed the food box steadily in front of her and opened the lid.

A cloud of steam rose instantly, carrying with it the aroma of food.

He looked at her and subtly raised his chin, gesturing for her to eat.

Shen Zhiyi lowered her eyes.

The dishes in the food box were exquisite, all light and flavorful, with rich colors and excellent presentation. The aroma wafted into the nose, whetting one's appetite.

Her mind was initially focused on editing logic, and she planned to endure the hunger first, but then...

"Gurgle—"

Her stomach growled at an extremely inopportune moment, sounding particularly clear in the editing room where only the sound of the machines could be heard.

Shen Zhiyi's face flushed red instantly, and her ears burned as well.

She pursed her lips in embarrassment, wishing she could bury her face in the screen and never look up at Lu Zichuan again.

"You still say you're not hungry?"

Lu Zichuan raised an eyebrow. Seeing that she still hadn't moved, he picked up the chopsticks and handed them to her.

Shen Zhiyi blinked, looking at Lu Zichuan's gentle demeanor, which was completely different from when he scolded her about work in the afternoon. How could this person be so contradictory?

"Or do you mean I have to feed you before you'll even pick up your chopsticks?"

Seeing that she still didn't move, Lu Zichuan tilted his head, a hint of amusement in his voice.
