Lu Jingshen stood under the tree, a pile of luggage at his feet. He was wearing a slightly worn white shirt, the hem tucked into his trousers. The dark circles under his eyes were still visible, and his lips were slightly pursed as he looked towards where the cultural troupe had gotten off the bus.

He saw Shen Tang walking towards him from a distance, and his eyes lit up.

Shen Tang's hair had grown long and was neatly tied up, revealing the contours of her face. Her forehead was full, her eyebrows and eyes were relaxed, and the sunlight shone from the side, casting a thin layer of light on her face. She wore a confident smile, her whole demeanor relaxed and composed, radiating an upward force.

Shen Tang frowned when she saw Lu Jingshen, then deftly turned a corner and walked to the side.

"Shen Tang," Lu Jingshen called out.

Shen Tang didn't want to pay attention to him and continued walking forward, but then Lu Jingshen called out to her loudly again.

Shen Tang stopped, turned around, and said impatiently, "What?"

"Shen Tang, I'm going to marry Yang Xinyue," Lu Jingshen said, staring at Shen Tang.

"Congratulations! You two are finally united in marriage." Shen Tang said with a forced smile, and then turned to leave.

Lu Jingshen frowned, took a step forward, and said:

"Shen Tang, I know you hate me. But I was also bewitched by Yang Xinyue back then..."

Shen Tang frowned and looked at him, wondering what he was going to say.

"Shen Tang, I heard you can have children?" Lu Jingshen asked. "Sigh, it was all a coincidence. Otherwise, we would probably be living a very happy life now."

"Seriously? Are you out of your mind?" Shen Tang couldn't help but yell. "Yang Xinyue is pregnant, and you're going to marry her. And now you're coming here to reminisce about past hardships?"

"Why are you having second thoughts?" Shen Tang asked.

"I have no regrets," Lu Jingshen adjusted his glasses, "I was just afraid you still had feelings for me, so..."

"Don't worry, I have a dog in my heart, but not you." Shen Tang said, then picked up her luggage and strode away.

Lu Jingshen stood under the tree, watching her walk through the passageway and up the stairs. He watched Shen Tang walk into the dormitory.

"What are you looking at?" A cold, sharp voice rang out from behind.

Lu Jingshen turned around and saw Huo Xiuyuan standing behind him, his eyes cold and his whole body exuding murderous aura.

Lu Jingshen swallowed hard. "I've come to get Yang Xinyue's luggage. We're getting married."

"So what?" Huo Xiuyuan stared at him coldly. "If you keep looking around like that, don't blame me for beating you up."

"Commander Huo, can you really give Shen Tang happiness?" Lu Jingshen glanced at his crotch. "I've heard—you're impotent."

A cold glint flashed in Huo Xiuyuan's eyes. "You don't need to worry about that. Mind your own business. Stay away from Shen Tang."

Lu Jingshen lowered his eyes and smiled, "I bet Shen Tang still has feelings for me. If I turn back now, she will definitely choose me again. If we hadn't thought she couldn't have children, we might have kids by now."

Huo Xiuyuan grabbed Lu Jingshen by the collar. "Are you looking for death?"

"Huo Xiuyuan, do you dare to lay a hand on me? This is a military base. You're the regimental commander, and so many of your men are watching!"

A smile appeared on Lu Jingshen's face; he was certain that Huo Xiuyuan wouldn't dare to make a move.

Huo Xiuyuan's fists clenched so tightly they cracked.

"Lu Jingshen, why haven't you left yet?"

Shen Tang walked up from behind, took Huo Xiuyuan's hand, and hugged his arm.

"By the way, Huo Xiuyuan and I are getting married too."

Shen Tang took Huo Xiuyuan's hand and showed him the ring on her finger.

"See? My man hit him himself."

Lu Jingshen looked at their clasped hands, clenched his teeth, and said coldly:

"Shen Tang, are you really willing to live a life of widowhood with Huo Xiuyuan? He's simply not up to the task."

"Who said he's no good? He's more than capable. My man is mighty and vigorous, a perpetual motion machine in bed, full of energy." Shen Tang walked forward step by step, pointing at Lu Jingshen's chest. "How could a little chick like you compare?"

Huo Xiuyuan looked around, thankfully no one was passing by. Otherwise, it would have been incredibly awkward to hear what Shen Tang had said.

She's so daring. Huo Xiuyuan's lips curled up again and again.

It feels so good to have my wife backing me up.

"Shen Tang, have you no shame?" Lu Jingshen frowned, his face turning pale.

"Get out of here! If you don't leave, I'll expose your affair with Yang Xinyue and let everyone judge it. Oh, and about you forging documents too." Shen Tang's words were firm and resolute.

Lu Jingshen's lips trembled a few times, but he ultimately didn't utter a single word. He bent down, picked up his luggage from the ground, lowered his head, and walked away quickly, his steps hurried and disordered.

Shen Tang watched him walk away, rolled her eyes in disgust, and let go of Huo Xiuyuan's arm.

"I need to go out and buy some things," Shen Tang said.

Huo Xiuyuan smiled and moved closer to her. "So confident in my kung fu?"

"What kind of kung fu?" Shen Tang asked, puzzled.

"On the bed." Huo Xiuyuan's lips moved slightly as he uttered the two words, his eyes also filled with a smile.

Shen Tang realized that she had just rattled off a whole bunch of things in an attempt to roast Lu Jingshen. Thinking about it now, it was indeed a little embarrassing.

"Hehe, I was just saying. Just bragging!" Shen Tang smiled and was about to leave.

Oh my god, how embarrassing.

Huo Xiuyuan leaned down and whispered in her ear, "I won't let you down."

Shen Tang blushed. "I'm leaving."

"Wait a minute," Huo Xiuyuan said, shoving the wallet into Shen Tang's hand. "Take it."

"What?" Shen Tang asked in surprise.

"Aren't you going to buy something? From now on, you'll be in charge of all my money."

Shen Tang raised an eyebrow, put her wallet into her backpack, and said, "Okay, you said it."

Huo Xiuyuan smiled. "I said it."

"I'm leaving." Shen Tang waved to him and walked towards the gate.

Shen Tang left the courtyard and went straight to the department store. She had run out of daily necessities and needed to buy a lot of things.

After she finished shopping, she walked back and saw a vendor selling candied hawthorns, so she bought three skewers.

She stood there, feeling someone watching her, and turned around to look—

A man stood in the corner, wearing a tattered jacket whose color was indistinguishable. His hair was long and messy, with tufts of hair, and he had a long beard. When he saw Shen Tang looking over, he did not look away.

Shen Tang frowned as she looked at him. The man had a gloomy demeanor and must have just been released from prison.

She remembered the dream she had that day; she was being stared at by a wolf, and then pounced on. The wolf's eyes also held a fierce glint, yet there seemed to be other emotions within them as well.

His eyes were complicated.

"Girl, the candied hawthorns are ready."

The shopkeeper handed the candied hawthorn to Shen Tang, who turned around to take it. When she turned back, the man was already gone.

Shen Tang frowned in confusion. Who was this person?
