"You dare?!" Huo Xiuyuan said coldly.

Gu Siming burst into laughter, "If you like her, just go for it. You'll regret it if you wait too long!"

Huo Xiuyuan glanced at him, his eyes darkening.

"Get the supplies sorted out as soon as possible."

Gu Siming frowned. "Let's send them there in several batches! Yours, plus Shen Tang's, and I've prepared some myself. There's a lot of stuff, and time is tight. I'll hurry up and buy some more bedding. If the rest can't be delivered, we'll find a truck to send them there. You can go and meet them then."

Huo Xiuyuan thought for a moment and nodded, "Okay, I'll leave you a letter of introduction. We might not be able to keep in touch once you get there."

Huo Xiuyuan didn't linger any longer and quickly returned to his unit.

The next day, just as dawn was breaking, the troops assembled and prepared to depart.

There were six vehicles in total. Five vehicles carried soldiers, and one vehicle carried members of the cultural troupe. There were twelve people in total in the first and second teams.

When Cheng Lei saw Shen Tang, he ran over from afar to greet her.

"Shen Tang, are you going too?"

Shen Tang nodded. "Yes, we meet again, partner."

Cheng Lei grinned, jumped into the car, and held out his hand to Shen Tang:

"Come on, let me pull you up."

Shen Tang didn't stand on ceremony and grabbed his arm to get into the car.

Huo Xiuyuan was loading supplies onto the vehicle with the soldiers. He glanced over, but his expression remained unchanged.

Shen Tang was sitting in the car when she saw Li Meihua run over to talk to Huo Xiuyuan.

Huo Xiuyuan was busy with his hands and didn't say much to her. Li Meihua handed Huo Xiuyuan a cloth bag, but he didn't take it. Li Meihua stood there and didn't leave, continuing to offer it to him.

Huo Xiuyuan took it and tossed it to the soldier next to him, saying, "Distribute it among everyone."

Li Meihua's face turned red with anger, and she turned around and walked towards the cultural troupe's car.

A smile flickered across Shen Tang's lips as she tilted her head to look to the side.

Yang Xinyue was walking this way, her lips were lightly rouged, but her face still showed signs of fatigue.

Yang Xinyue walked to the back of the car, looked at the rather high fence and pursed her lips. Immediately, two male members of the group reached out to her.

Yang Xinyue hesitated for a moment, but still grabbed the wrist of the male member of the group who was closest to her.

The male member smiled and glanced at the other person, then pulled Yang Xinyue up.

"Oh dear," Yang Xinyue exclaimed softly.

"You pulled her too hard." The other person quickly helped Yang Xinyue sit down next to them. "Are you alright?"

Yang Xinyue pulled her arm out of his hand and moved it to the side.

"I'm fine."

Shen Tang frowned slightly as she looked at Yang Xinyue.

Is Yang Xinyue in a good condition to go to the disaster area?

Not only is the journey bumpy, but we also don't know what the situation will be like when we get there.

What if something goes wrong?

Shen Tang moved closer to her and lowered her voice, "Can you go?"

Yang Xinyue glanced at her, "It's none of your business."

Shen Tang moved back, too lazy to pay any more attention to her.

The members of the cultural troupe boarded the vehicles one after another, and the relief supplies were all prepared. The troops set off.

Ji Huaizhou sat opposite Shen Tang and secretly glanced at her several times, while Shen Tang's gaze drifted out of the car.

It will take a whole day to travel there, and once we get there, we'll probably be working non-stop.

I wonder how things are in the disaster area now.

Huo Xiuyuan sat in the passenger seat of the lead car, glancing back from the rearview mirror every now and then.

"Commander Huo, what's wrong? Should we wait for the car behind us?" asked Xiao Chen, who was driving.

"It's alright, just drive normally," Commander Huo said.

The car drove until noon, the sun scorching the earth. Reaching a small river, Huo Xiuyuan raised his hand:

"Stop the car, rest where you are, and we'll depart in half an hour."

Several vehicles pulled over to the side of the road, and the soldiers and members of the cultural troupe got out of the vehicles to stretch their sore and numb legs.

Everyone carried some dry food with them, and they ate a few bites with water as their lunch.

Cheng Lei took an apple out of his pocket and secretly handed it to Shen Tang, who broke the apple into four pieces.

He handed one piece to Zhao Wenjing and Zhou Nan, then handed one back to Cheng Lei, and kept one for himself.

The four people divided up the apple.

Cheng Lei stuffed a mouthful into his mouth and grinned, "So sweet."

"Cheng Lei, do you like Shen Tang?" Zhao Wenjing asked with a smile, her words coming out directly.

Cheng Lei almost choked while eating an apple. He waved his hand and said:

"Don't talk nonsense. My friendship with Shen Tang is a revolutionary one, much stronger than any romantic relationship!"

Shen Tang patted him on the shoulder and said, "You're right, long live revolutionary friendship."

The four of them laughed together.

Ji Huaizhou glanced at Shen Tang, took a deep breath, and lowered his head to gnaw on the dry rations in his hand.

Shen Tang looked up and saw that the soldiers in the vehicle in front had all gone down into the river, splashing water to wash their faces and hair to dispel the heat.

Huo Xiuyuan directed the inspection of each vehicle's tires and checked whether the supply vehicles were securely fastened.

Then he walked over to the cultural troupe and said to Director Ge, who was sitting to the side:

"Let everyone wash their faces in the river, and then we'll continue our journey."

"Alright," Commander Ge stood up and said, "Anyone who wants to wash their face, go wash it quickly. Come back and get in the car. We're about to depart."

Some people got on the bus, while others ran down to the riverbank.

Huo Xiuyuan glanced at Shen Tang, then turned and headed towards the lead car.

After everyone dispersed, Ge Aihua pulled Shen Tang aside and whispered:

"What exactly happened between you two?"

"Nothing much." Shen Tang forced a smile, but a bitter feeling welled up inside her.

"I can tell he cares about you, so you should show him more concern. We weren't originally planning to have him come, but he just got back from Xinjiang and his injuries haven't healed yet, but he insisted on coming along. Everyone else has eaten, but he's the only one running around taking care of things."

"Is he injured?" Shen Tang asked.

"Yes, he was scratched in the abdomen by a wolf. The injury was quite serious. The doctor told him to rest for a few days before coming back, but I don't know what he was in such a hurry for, he took the train back overnight," Ge Aihua sighed.

Shen Tang frowned slightly and told him that the troupe was having a performance and hoped he would come to watch.

Could it be that he rushed back despite his injuries just to see her perform?

I didn't know anything at all.

Shen Tang clenched her fists, took a meat pie from her bag, and walked towards Huo Xiuyuan.

Huo Xiuyuan was about to get into the car when he saw Shen Tang walking over. He closed the car door, took a few steps forward, and stopped.

"Here, take this." Shen Tang stuffed the meat pie into his hand.

"No need, I brought some dry rations."

"Eat now." Shen Tang looked at him angrily.

Huo Xiuyuan lowered his eyes and took a bite of the meat pie.

"Are you injured?" Shen Tang asked, her gaze falling on his abdomen.

"It's all better now," Huo Xiuyuan said.

Shen Tang looked at him without saying anything, then raised her hand and lifted the hem of his clothes.

Huo Xiuyuan's abdomen was still wrapped in gauze, and there were clear claw marks on the uncovered areas.

Shen Tang's brows furrowed even deeper, and her voice unconsciously rose:

"Are you crazy? You're not even fully recovered! What if you get infected over there?"

"Ahem—" Huo Xiuyuan coughed lightly, "It's alright, almost done."

He took a step forward and lowered his voice, saying, "Since you care about me so much, I'll leave the dressing change to you."

Shen Tang looked up and stared into his eyes, recalling that beautiful dream, and her face flushed instantly.

But she still wouldn't back down verbally: "Aren't you afraid I'll take advantage of you?"

"They didn't take less than they were entitled to to begin with."

Huo Xiuyuan quickly stuffed the meat pie in his hand into his mouth.

He strode forward, saying, "Come on, I'll help you into the car."

Shen Tang watched his retreating figure, a smile curving her lips, and quickly followed after him.
