Shipborne Special Forces.

Chapter 5 You're too late!

They were all rubbing their arms to raise their body temperature, and had no time to worry about trivial matters like carrying the flag.

Thus, this glorious mission unexpectedly fell to Wang Aiguo.

.......

(Just a quick note, because so many people are fixated on this weather, I don't really know how to explain it. Anyway, back in 2012 when I went from Shanghai to Qingdao to join the army, it was 37 degrees Celsius when I left Shanghai, but only 21 degrees Celsius when I got off the train in Qingdao. Imagine getting off that high-speed train, the wind blowing, how cold would you feel? Many people don't believe it's so cold, so I can only say that in Shanghai, I used the air conditioning and a blanket at night. But in our recruit camp, we didn't need air conditioning, not even a fan. You had to use a blanket at night, and that was in August. I don't know if the weather forecast was wrong, or if Chengyang was just particularly cold, but that's how it was. Everyone who's been a recruit there knows this. As for why, don't ask me, I don't know either. Some people talk about extreme weather, but I wouldn't call it extreme weather; it's like this even in normal weather. Back then, so many people caught colds at night, even in August.)

Upon exiting the train station, a bus was already waiting at the entrance. Looking at the bus, Wang Aiguo was quite satisfied, because in various TV dramas, soldiers were always transported in green trucks.

Given the current temperature difference, and the fact that they're wearing shorts and vests, many people probably wouldn't be able to stand riding in a drafty green pickup truck.

As the bus drove by, Wang Aiguo took in the scenery along the way.

He truly never imagined that he would actually join the army. A lazy, good-for-nothing slacker who had been living a life of idleness for years actually lost weight from 250 pounds to 177 cm in three months and then joined the army.

At this moment, his feelings were truly complex. There was excitement, fear, and curiosity about the unknown.

While at home, he always wondered what the military was like. Although his family was a military family, with his father and grandfather both serving in the army, and he had heard about it from a young age, he had never actually been there.

The bus was fast, and after a bumpy for more than forty minutes, we finally arrived at the gate of a military compound.

Wang Aiguo looked outside and saw a dilapidated military base.

"Heh, are all recruit camps this awful?" Wang Aiguo said with a wry smile.

.......

"The children are in your care now." The staff officer from S City led everyone out of the car and to a man in a white military uniform.

Wang Aiguo sized up the white military uniform. His family members were all in the military, so he had some knowledge of military ranks. The other person had a three-star rank, making him a company-level officer.

The man in white nodded to the staff officer in S City and said, "No problem, leave the rest to me."

"Thanks, brother." With that, the strategist from S City rubbed his arms and rushed towards the clothing store on the street.

Night has fallen, and it's almost 6 p.m. Wearing shorts and a tank top in temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius is definitely not very comfortable.

Of course, Wang Aiguo was still the same; he thought the temperature was quite nice.

.......

The man in white uniform glanced at the group of over thirty people, then smiled and said in a hearty voice, "Hello everyone, I'm the staff officer from the brigade headquarters, you can call me Staff Officer Yu. First of all, welcome to Chenyang Recruit Camp. This is the largest recruit camp in the Navy, and almost fifty percent of the Navy soldiers come from here. You will be staying here for the next six months, during which time you will learn what a soldier's will is, what iron discipline is, and some professional knowledge of the military. Now I will take you to your respective units, please follow me."

As Yu Can spoke, his eyes scanned the crowd, but Wang Aiguo clearly noticed that when Yu Can saw him, his gaze paused for a moment.

That look seemed to say, "Something strange has infiltrated our ranks!"

Wang Aiguo was a little depressed. Although he now weighed 220 pounds, he was still thinner than before. Besides, he wasn't the only one who was so fat. Didn't he have a brother who was 170 cm tall and weighed 180 kg next to him?

As he was thinking, Wang Aiguo glanced at the man next to him.

The other person felt Wang Aiguo's gaze and turned his head slightly. Then, in the setting sun, he noticed a 188cm tall man with a fierce face staring intently at him.

"This guy...did he awaken some strange attribute?" Thinking of this, the brother felt a chill.

.......

Chenyang has 12 squads, and there are 38 people in this group, so each squad basically needs to send in three new recruits.

Wang Aiguo had heard about this kind of disbanding from his father; it was to prevent people from forming cliques in the army.

As they walked, at each detachment a two-star officer would come out and pick three people out of the ranks.

By the way, the girls didn't have a choice; they were all assigned to Team 5.

As they walked, Wang Aiguo noticed that the other person's gaze was starting to look strange.

The first few teams were still scanning the crowd, but as the number of people decreased, the people who came to select people started to look at them more casually, as if they were quite disgusted.

When it came to the twelfth team, only three people remained. One was Wang Aiguo, another was his 180-pound brother next to him, and the third was estimated to weigh nearly 200 pounds.

When the three of them reached Team Twelve, Yu Can's expression stiffened. Sure enough, it was these three who remained.

"This is Team 12. You'll be training here for the next six months," Yu Can said awkwardly.

Wang Aiguo and two other men curiously peered into the gate of Team 12. Other teams were greeted by soldiers or instructors.

But Team 12 was a bit different; there was no one at the entrance.

.......

"Does this mean we're not welcome?" Wang Aiguo asked, puzzled.

Yu Can shook his head and said, "No, it's because the captain of Team 12 is on leave and hasn't returned, and the instructor is also away on a business trip, so it's temporarily being managed by the three squad leaders."

"Oh, I see. So... where are they?"

Just then, footsteps came from inside the building. "Excuse me, excuse me, I was in the restroom." Immediately afterwards, a man with a large face and a weight of about 180 pounds rushed out.

Wang Aiguo glanced at the man who had rushed out, his expression somewhat strange.

Of course, the man first glanced at Yu Can apologetically, then his gaze focused on Wang Aiguo and the other two people beside Yu Can. Immediately, his gaze froze, and he looked as if he'd seen a ghost.

"These three are from your Team 12..."

Before Yu Can could finish speaking, the man interrupted him.

"Yu Can, wait a minute. You're putting all three of these in our team? Don't you know what kind of temper my captain has? We're already exhausted from dealing with just one, and you're giving us three more? If the captain finds out, I'll be beaten to death."

Yu Can shrugged, spread his hands, and said helplessly, "It's not my fault. The teams were assigned in the order they were formed. Your team, number 12, was the last one, so..."

Hehe, Wang Aiguo understood what he meant. So, these three were unwanted leftovers.

Okay, fine, if nobody wants us, then nobody wants us. But don't say it out loud in front of us. How are we supposed to face each other now that you've said it like that?

Wang Aiguo thought to himself, but on the surface he still smiled. Right now, he only had one word he wanted to say to the two people in front of him: "MMP!"

.......

In the end, Wang Aiguo and his two companions settled down in Team 12. The man who had just gone to the toilet was the squad leader of the third ward of Team 12, surnamed Jia. They called him Squad Leader Jia.

Incidentally, Wang Aiguo also learned the names of the other two guys. The one who was 170cm tall and weighed 180kg, and looked like Eric Tsang, was surnamed Li. Wang Aiguo called him Sanpang (Third Fatty).

Wang Aiguo calls the guy who is 180cm tall and weighs 195kg "Second Fatty".

Don't ask why there's no "Yi Pang" (meaning "fat man"), Wang Aiguo is one of them.

And so, Team 12, the Three Giants, was officially formed.
