Chapter 66 Passion

The moment the quartermaster's face appeared, the two men snapped back to reality and jumped right out of bed.

The monk reacted the most, jumping off the bed and standing on it, wearing only his underwear and striking a Wing Chun starting stance.

"Quartermaster, what are you doing?" the monk shouted in terror.

The quartermaster raised an eyebrow dismissively and said, "What's wrong? Are you about to transform into Ultraman?"

"Quartermaster, is it time for dinner?" Only then did Wang Aiguo realize the problem.

Starting today, they've joined the mess hall. But the problem is... it's already 10:30, isn't that a bit too late?

The quartermaster nodded and said indifferently, "Dinner's ready. We've been waiting for you to cook. It's already 10:30, hurry up and get over here."

"It's 10:30. How come we slept for so long and no one woke us up?" Wang Aiguo asked, somewhat puzzled.

As the quartermaster walked towards the door, he said, "It was the captain's order. You two worked hard last night, so no one will wake you up today. But speaking of which, you two can really sleep! You slept until 10:30."

"Heh, if you had been like us last night, you would have been able to sleep just as well," Wang Aiguo thought to himself, speechless.

.......

Stepping into the kitchen, Wang Aiguo was quite surprised by what he saw. It wasn't a gas or natural gas stove; he recognized the one in front of him – a wood-fired stove often seen in TV dramas.

But wouldn't it be a bit strange for a modern army to use something like this?

Seemingly sensing Wang Aiguo's confusion, the quartermaster said calmly, "The troops have field cooking, which means cooking over a fire. This place is used as a training base, so we've retained the tradition of burning firewood. Alright, you go chop the vegetables, and the monks, you go chop the wood. We'll start cooking at eleven o'clock." The quartermaster gave efficient instructions, and then personally worked with the head cook to prepare the ingredients.

Taking the kitchen knife, Wang Aiguo was somewhat moved. In just over two months, he had transformed from someone who never lifted a finger to someone who could skillfully use a kitchen knife and cook several home-style dishes.

Then, seeing the potatoes in front of him, Wang Aiguo began to chop them quickly.

"For lunch, we had four dishes: braised pork with potatoes, hot and sour shredded potatoes, green vegetables, cold onion salad, and seaweed and egg drop soup."

After the quartermaster finished speaking, Wang Aiguo silently raised his hand and said, "Quartermaster, how about we stir-fry the onions with an egg? They're always too pungent when we make them into a cold salad."

"Heh, not enough eggs," the quartermaster sneered.

Wang Aiguo paused for a moment, then said, "How about we use the eggs from the seaweed and egg drop soup to stir-fry with onions?"

"Seaweed soup, would you like some?"

"How about a compromise, putting half on each side?" At this moment, the head cook raised his hand and said.

The quartermaster and Wang Aiguo thought about it and felt it seemed like a good idea, so they happily made the decision.

....

Once the dishes were decided, everyone got to work quickly. Wang Aiguo chopped potatoes, while the quartermaster shredded them.

As he was chopping, Wang Aiguo suddenly realized that there were quite a lot of insects on the mountain.

"That's the downside of having so many trees; there are a lot of bugs. Ouch, there's a fly on the quartermaster's shoulder!" Wang Aiguo suddenly noticed the unusual thing on the quartermaster's shoulder and pointed it out.

The quartermaster didn't think too much about it and tried to move it, but the fly didn't budge.

"It's still there."

"If you're still here, just kill him for me," the quartermaster said impatiently.

"Oh." Wang Aiguo nodded, then raised his hand and waved towards the quartermaster.

A flash of cold light appeared, and in the blink of an eye, the quartermaster, relying on his years of military experience, swiftly turned to the side, dodging Wang Aiguo's thunderous attack.

"Damn it, you little brat, you're trying to kill me!" Lying on the side, the quartermaster's forehead was covered in cold sweat. Luckily, he saw the flash of the blade just now, otherwise he would be a one-armed swordsman by now.

Only then did Wang Aiguo realize that he was still holding a kitchen knife. He quickly explained, "Sorry, sorry, I was just chopping vegetables. You asked me to swat flies, and I didn't realize it at first. Sorry, sorry."

"Damn it, do you think you're playing a game where you can just click to get a powerful weapon like a giant cleaver that can level you up to 999 in one hit?!" The quartermaster cursed angrily.

The martial monk who was chopping wood in the courtyard heard the quartermaster's words and laughed. He had also seen what had just happened; Wang Aiguo had almost chopped the quartermaster in a moment of carelessness.

The monk saw this as a good opportunity to flatter the quartermaster, so he spoke to Wang Aiguo in a condescending tone, "Be a little more careful when you're working. You can't joke like that. If this happens..."

Before he finished speaking, the monk's axe slammed heavily into the tree stump, then instantly detached from the wooden handle and flew away.

In the blink of an eye, the quartermaster realized that it was not a good day for him to go out, much less for him to be with these two.

The monk casually swung his axe, and it landed steadily between his legs, just three centimeters away from his genitals.

"You little brat, if you want to kill me, just say so. Don't try to play dirty tricks on me!" the quartermaster roared desperately.

Monk: "..."

Wang Aiguo: "..."

Um, if we say it was an accident, would you believe us?

....

Setting up a fire to cook a meal, or rather, lighting a fire, was not as easy as Wang Aiguo had imagined. The quartermaster and the others hadn't burned firewood in a long time, and for a moment they couldn't even get a fire going.

As time ticked by and lunchtime approached, the quartermaster finally grew anxious and said to Wang Aiguo, "Go and see if there's anything we can use to start a fire."

"To start a fire, do tissues count?" Wang Aiguo thought for a moment and asked.

Everyone was stunned for a moment, then the monk said blankly, "A fire started with paper towels? How much of that do you need? Can you even afford to burn it?"

"How could I use my own? You brought a lot, of course I'll use yours!" Wang Aiguo said casually.

Monk: "..."

You're so shameless, do your parents know?

....

Wang Aiguo came out of the kitchen, and as soon as he came out, he felt a little troubled. Where could he find something to start a fire?

As soon as he stepped outside, Wang Aiguo immediately saw You Jiang, and the next moment, Wang Aiguo smiled eerily.

Team 12 is full of three cancers. He and the monk have already been "judged". So how can the Right Descendant "live alone"? Well, he can live a carefree and happy life on his own.

The next moment, Wang Aiguo walked towards Youjiang with a strange smile.

Just as You Jiang was in a great mood and was happily walking forward, he suddenly felt a shiver run through his body, and a chill ran from his head all the way to the soles of his feet.

"It's not even that cold today, so why do I feel a bit chilly?"

"Good brother, it's fate that you're here. Come on, lend a hand!" Wang Aiguo said, already putting one hand on You Jiang's shoulder.

Right Jiang's face immediately darkened. "What the hell is fate? You're the one who's fate!"
