Starting as a stray dog, I embarked on a journey of cultivation.

Gou An's feelings were complicated.

He was presented with both good and bad news.

The good news is that after he died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), he was reborn and has a healthy body.

The bad news is, this healthy body is a stray dog!

He transmigrated to a world overrun by monsters and became a yellow-haired wild dog living in the Monster Mountain Range.

Every day, they can only follow the pack of dogs to hunt and forage for food, and if they are lucky, they can get a couple of bites of meat.

When luck is bad, you might go hungry for several days in a row.

Other demon dogs can eat the excrement of other demon beasts to satisfy their hunger, but Gou An, who possesses a human soul, simply cannot stomach such a thing.

Every time Gou An saw his companions happily circling around a fresh, steaming pile of poop, he would stand out from the crowd and keep his distance.

He secretly vowed that even if he jumped off a cliff and died, he would never eat a single bite of this stuff.

In addition, Gou An is different from other demon dogs in that he has a control panel in his mind.

Every time I close my eyes, I can see clearly with just a thought.

[Current Realm: Tier 1 Demon Beast]

[Demon Power Value: 998/1000]

Having been in this world for two and a half years, Gou An has been able to slowly accumulate demon power by hunting and eating meat.

Gou An was very excited as he was finally close to collecting enough items.

However, the pack of dogs failed to hunt successfully for three consecutive days, so their demonic power did not increase at all.

Gou An was speechless as he watched his pack of dogs in the distance still fighting over a large pile of poop.

If I continue hanging out with these guys, I'll starve to death sooner or later.

Once they've reached a higher level and gained the ability to protect themselves, they'll run away immediately.

boom!

A muffled thud interrupted Gou An's train of thought.

He turned his head and saw that a rabbit had run too fast and crashed into a tree stump and died.

He fell straight down in front of Gou An.

Gou An was dumbfounded, never expecting that the story of waiting for a rabbit to run into a tree stump was actually true.

The ancients were right!

Coming to his senses, he immediately turned around and looked around. He breathed a sigh of relief when he realized that the pack of dogs was not paying attention to him.

If the dog king finds out, I definitely won't get a share.

"My luck has finally turned around!"

Gou An chuckled, got up, carried the rabbit to a secluded spot behind a tree, and swallowed it whole, skin and all, in a few bites.

At the same time, the demonic power in his head also began to increase.

a little!

Two points!

[Demon Power Value: 1000/1000]

As the demonic power level was fully accumulated, the scene on the screen changed again.

[Current Realm: Tier 2 Demon Beast]

[Demon Power Value: 0/2000]

[Congratulations on successfully breaking through to the second tier of the Demon Beast realm! You have gained five Demon Arts Points.]

You can exchange Hex Points for Hex Arts from the following options.

[Iron Skin Technique: Skin is strengthened to the point of being as hard as iron, defense skyrockets. (Exchange for Demon Points: 5 points)]

[Turbid Mist Breath: Inhales and exhales the tainted demonic power accumulated within the body, spewing out a pungent gray mist. (Exchangeable for Demon Points: 4 points)]

【Scent of a Thousand Fragrances: Enhances olfactory sense tenfold. (Exchangeable for 3 Demon Points)】

[Dog-Leg Run: Enhances leg strength, speed, stamina, and agility, all significantly improved. (Exchangeable for 2 Demon Points)]

[Carrion Eater: Consuming carrion, feces, and other similar items grants more demonic power. (Exchangeable for 1 demonic point)]

Looking at the five sorcery spells that appeared before him, Gou An fell into deep thought.

There are five points of sorcery in total. How should I allocate them?

In this mountain range teeming with monsters, the most important thing is the ability to survive.

The Iron Skin Technique looks pretty good; it can directly increase defense.

However, there are many high-level demonic beasts in the mountains, whose attack power is terrifyingly strong, and they can even tear apart skin made of iron.

As for the last skill, Carrion Eater, although it seems like a good skill to accelerate the accumulation of demonic power, Gou An really can't eat rotten flesh and feces, so choosing it would be a waste of time.

Now that I've just upgraded, I definitely want to maximize my profits.

In order to use up all his demonic power points, Gou An ultimately chose two demonic arts: Ten Thousand Scents Tracking and Dog-Leg Running.

The sense of smell is extremely useful for finding food and for detecting danger.

Running like a dog greatly enhances one's ability to escape.

Therefore, these two skills are definitely the most suitable for this stage.

So Gou An silently recited the two skills in his mind and then chose success.

The next second, Gou An felt two streams of heat flowing into his body.

His limbs became much stronger instantly, and the smells he could distinguish in his nose became more distinct and clear.

Having successfully broken through, Gou An stretched and yawned while lying on the ground.

The bones made a crackling sound.

At the same time, Gou An discovered that after the upgrade, his physique seemed to have increased by half a size.

Looking at his group of unintelligent demon dog companions in the distance, Gou An thought to himself, it's time to go out and go solo.

Working yourself to the bone alongside the pack of dogs, you barely get to eat anything good.

And he continued to stay with them, fearing that his humanity would gradually be assimilated by these wild dogs.

So Gou An turned around and resolutely walked in another direction of the mountains, leaving without a sound.

For ten days after he left.

Gou An and others are doing quite well.

Although he couldn't hunt other large monsters without the help of his pack of dogs, he could still spot pheasants and rabbits thanks to his enhanced sense of smell.

With the added speed boost from his dog-leg running, these small monsters generally can't outrun him.

Even without catching prey, their enhanced sense of smell often allows them to discover numerous monster eggs hidden in the grass.

So the ten days after I left were better than the previous two years.

The demon power value is also steadily increasing at a rate of three or four points per day.

Gou An did some mental calculations and figured that at this rate, he could probably break through again in a little over a year.

Although Gou An's life was not dignified, he felt at peace when he recalled how he had been tormented by illness in his previous life, to the point that walking and eating were difficult.

Now I can at least run and jump, eat and drink, and live a carefree life.

It's not bad.

That day, Gou An had just eaten a pheasant. He found a high place, lay on a rock, and basked in the sun to digest his food, feeling quite relaxed.

Suddenly, a gentle breeze swept through the silent forest.

Gou An's nose twitched involuntarily, and he suddenly opened his eyes.

people!

Someone has entered the mountains!

It's still a group of people!

Gou An immediately got up and looked in the direction from which the smell was coming.

The alarm blared immediately!

In this world, besides demonic beasts, there are also cultivators.

They frequently ventured into the Monster Mountain Range to hunt monsters, using their cores, and even their flesh and bones, to refine elixirs.

Every time they enter, many monsters die a violent death.

Having a human soul, Gou An understands the dangers of humans better than any other demon beast.

So he turned and ran away without a second thought.

Shortly after Gou An left, several human figures flew in from afar on swords and landed on the rock where Gou An had just been lying.

One of the older monks, dressed in white robes, spoke first.

"I'm sure everyone is familiar with the rules of the sect's annual assessment. This assessment will be limited to three hours. We'll meet here then."

"Finally, the winners and losers will be determined by the level and quantity of the demon cores you capture."

"The timer starts now!"
