Jiang Ruoxi slept until noon the next day.

When she woke up, Ye Chen was not in the room.

Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the curtains, falling warmly on the blankets.

Jiang Ruoxi sat up, her mind still a little hazy. She only remembered falling asleep in the car with Ye Chen last night, but how she got into bed and how she changed her clothes were all blurry.

A glass of warm water sat on the bedside table, with a note pressed under the glass: "Wife, I'm going to interrogate Tu Er. Drink some water when you wake up, don't rush to get up."

The handwriting was messy; it was Ye Chen's.

Jiang Ruoxi drank the water, put on a coat, and walked out of the bedroom.

The living room smelled of a mixture of ginger soup and medicinal oil.

Aygul sat on the steps by the door wiping her knife, Ghost Servant stretched his limbs in the yard, and He Jianping squatted by the flower bed smoking.

Seeing Jiang Ruoxi come out, He Jianping quickly put out his cigarette, stood up and said, "President Jiang, Minister Ye went to the basement and asked me to tell you to come up if there is any news. There is some porridge in the kitchen, please have some first."

Jiang Ruoxi didn't go to the kitchen, but instead headed towards the basement.

He Jianping opened his mouth, but ultimately didn't stop him.

He knew this President Jiang too well; she wouldn't feel at ease without Ye Chen by her side.

The basement, formerly a small room for storing wine, has been temporarily converted into an interrogation room.

Han Song and two veterans stood guard at the door.

Upon seeing Jiang Ruoxi arrive, Han Song nodded slightly and lowered his voice, saying, "Ye Chen is inside talking to Tu Er. That guy is stubborn. He threw up a little this morning, but he's still holding onto the key information."

Jiang Ruoxi nodded, but didn't go in. She sat down on a low stool outside and listened to the sounds inside through the half-closed iron gate.

Ye Chen's voice was unhurried, as if he were chatting about the weather: "Master Tu, you've been around in the south before. I, Ye Chen, keep my word. Spill out all the people who crossed the river, the routes, and the locations of your gangs, and I'll spare your life. After we uproot your headquarters, you can go back to the south and continue your business. If you don't tell me, I won't do anything to you. I'll just lock you up in this cellar and have Uncle Gui feed you medicine every day. You don't know, do you? Medicine King Valley has a kind of pill that won't kill you, but it will make you forget who your mother is. Do you want to try it?"

Tu Er remained silent.

Ye Chen said a few more words, and seeing that he really couldn't pry it open, he told Han Song to keep a close watch on the person, and then he came out of the basement.

He looked up and saw Jiang Ruoxi, paused for a moment, then laughed: "Why did you come down? I told you to sleep a little longer."

Jiang Ruoxi stood up, her expression calm: "I'm not sleepy. You go ahead with your work. I'll just sit here for a while and think about what loopholes in the company still need to be fixed."

Ye Chen walked over and took her hand.

Jiang Ruoxi's hands were warmer than yesterday, but they were still incredibly thin.

Ye Chen pulled her to the stairwell and said seriously, "Zhang Heng's boss has confessed. You only escaped danger last night, but the Blackwater headquarters won't let it go. I had Song Tiezhu check the highways and major intersections. Also, that new partner you mentioned last time sent an email this morning saying they want to meet you tomorrow. Qiao San's people have checked it out. The company is registered in the south, and the legal representative is under the name of someone who is already dead. I'm not comfortable with that. I'll go with you tomorrow."

After hearing this, Jiang Ruoxi narrowed her eyes: "They can't wait any longer, they even dare to touch the company's business."

She looked at Ye Chen and suddenly smiled: "But this is fine too. People who are in the open are always easier to deal with than those who are in the shadows. I would be more than happy to have you come with me."

After Jiang Ruoxi finished speaking, she walked upstairs, but after taking two steps, she turned back and said, "Tu Er is not confessing because he still has a way out. The people from the Blackwater Headquarters will definitely come to rescue him. Using him as bait is more useful than asking him directly."

Ye Chen's eyes lit up, and he quickly followed: "President Jiang, you're brilliant. Come on, let's go to the study and discuss this. They want to kidnap you, right? Then let's show them that the name Jiang Ruoxi can not only be written into the company's financial statements, but also into Blackwater's challenge."

The two entered the study and closed the door.

Ye Chen laid out the route map sent back by Song Tiezhu and the information provided by Qiao San on the table, while Jiang Ruoxi pulled up the information of the new partner on the computer.

The sunlight outside the window was perfect, casting the two people's shadows onto the map on the wall, making them look like two generals arranging their troops.

The ghost servant arrived at the door at some point, holding a whetstone in his hand. He didn't go in, but leaned against the door frame, slowly sharpening his iron ruler.

The grinding stone made a series of sounds, like the softest prelude to a war drum.

"Tonight, we'll wait for them to come." Ye Chen drew a circle around the outskirts of Jiangcheng with a red pen, the strokes heavy.

Jiang Ruoxi looked at him, her gaze clear yet sharp: "I'll be responsible for luring them out, and you'll be responsible for closing the net."

The two exchanged a smile, a smile devoid of the panic of the previous night, replaced by a calm and tacit understanding honed by the trials and tribulations of the past.

Night fell quickly.

Jiang Ruoxi had the meeting place with the new partner changed to a club under the Jiang Group, and the time was set for 8:30 pm.

Jiang Ruoxi wore a black pantsuit with a dark gray trench coat over it, and a jade pendant was worn close to her neck.

Ye Chen and Han Song entered the club ahead of time. Ghost Servant led his men to guard the back door and the underground parking garage. Ayiguli disguised herself as Jiang Ruoxi's assistant and stayed by her side at all times.

Song Tiezhu's men were scattered around the clubhouse, each holding a walkie-talkie, ready to receive orders at any time.

Just after eight o'clock, a black sedan with a southern license plate drove into the club's underground parking garage.

The car door opened, and three people got out.

The leader was a middle-aged man in his forties, dressed in a suit and wearing gold-rimmed glasses, looking like a refined businessman.

The two men behind him were muscular, one on the left and one on the right, with arms thicker than an average person's thigh.

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses led the two into the club, where they were guided by a waiter to their pre-arranged private room.

Jiang Ruoxi was already seated in the private room.

She was drinking tea with her head down when she heard the door open. She looked up at the person who came in and smiled slightly: "Mr. Fang, please have a seat."

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses smiled and nodded, but his gaze quickly swept around the private room, as if checking if anyone was hiding in a corner.

Ye Chen was not in the private room.

He was sitting in the next room, wearing headphones, with the glow of a listening app flashing on his phone screen.

"President Jiang looks even younger than in the photos." President Fang sat down and reached for his teacup, but his other hand hung awkwardly at his side, as if he were making some kind of gesture.

The two people behind him didn't sit down; they stood at the doorway like two nails.

Jiang Ruoxi calmly put down her teacup and leaned back slightly: "Mr. Fang, you've come all the way from the south, what business do you want to discuss?"

Mr. Fang smiled, a gentle and refined smile: "I'd like to discuss a major deal with Mr. Jiang. A deal that will elevate the Jiang Group to the next level."

As he spoke, he took a brown paper bag from his briefcase and pushed it onto the table.

Jiang Ruoxi didn't touch the paper bag.

She looked at President Fang, her eyes slowly turning cold: "I don't do business with companies owned by dead people. President Fang, you might as well just say you're from the Blackwater headquarters, or are you trying to kill me?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the two men behind Mr. Fang moved.

One of them pulled a short dagger from his pocket and lunged at Jiang Ruoxi.

The door was suddenly flung open from the outside, and Ye Chen rushed in like a gust of wind, kicking the man in the lower back and sending him flying.

Before the other person could react, Aygul had already darted out from the side, her blade grazing the man's neck and stopping just an inch from his artery.

Mr. Fang's expression changed drastically, and he reached into his pocket.

Ye Chen strode forward, grabbed his wrist with one hand, and slammed a black leather ID on the table with the other. His voice was as cold as ice: "Don't bother. Your boatmen in Wuyi Ferry have already been taken down by me. Tu Er is also in my hands. If you don't want to become the second Qin Wuyi, tell me everything you know. This game started the moment you got off the highway tonight."

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses looked at Ye Chen, then at Han Song and the ghost servant who were rushing in through the door. He clutched the thing in his arms, and finally loosened his grip little by little.
