When Jiang Zhiyu's feet touched the floor again, she felt a real sense of unreality.

She felt a little dizzy and nauseous upon returning, but the overwhelming joy in her heart overwhelmed all these discomforts. She even wanted to go find Old Gao and Old Li immediately. She paced around the room several times, then glanced at her watch; it was only a little past three in the morning. She rubbed her chest with her hand.

But the more she stroked her hands, the faster her heart pounded. She hadn't felt that sensation, like it was about to burst out of her chest, in many years. Even ten years of the apocalypse hadn't made her this panicked, and now she'd been brought down by a box of dirt.

She sat down on the sofa, drank a glass of spiritual spring water, and forced herself to close her eyes to calm down. She waited until dawn before taking a shower, changing her clothes, and going downstairs.

Downstairs, only Mrs. Yang was busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen; the two guards on duty outside had already changed shifts. Mrs. Yang almost dropped the spatula in her hand as she watched her come downstairs.

"You came back last night? Why didn't you call us? What would you like to eat? I'll make it for you."

Upon hearing this, the two guards on duty outside immediately rushed in. Seeing that it was Jiang Zhiyu, they saluted in unison and then went back to their posts. Their hearts pounded with anxiety; could it be that she had entered while they were on duty last night? How come they hadn't noticed a thing?

Jiang Zhiyu nodded.

"Sister Yang, anything is fine with me, please make whatever you like."

Before long, the two little ones came running downstairs. When they saw their mother sitting in the dining room, they were overjoyed and rushed into her arms.

"Mommy, you're back! Yao Yao missed you so much!"

Song Zhizheng walked over and hugged Jiang Zhiyu's other arm, then said just one word.

"think."

Jiang Zhiyu patted the heads of the two little ones, her heart softening again and again. In this world, she too had flesh and blood.

Song Zhiyao immediately filed a complaint.

"Mom, Dad hasn't been back for a long time either. Neither of you are coming back."

Jiang Zhiyu scooped up Song Zhiyao and held him in her arms. She then glanced at her pouting son and picked him up, placing him on her other lap.

"Mom and Dad have very important things to do, they're very busy every day, just as important as you going to kindergarten."

Song Zhizheng immediately responded.

"I know, my dad is a soldier. All the kids in kindergarten envy us. Soldiers protect our country."

"Yes, Zhengzheng is right."

Song Zhiyao looked up at her mother with a puzzled expression.

"Mom, you're not in the military, so why are you so busy?"

Grandpa Song heard this as soon as he came downstairs. He walked over and patted his great-granddaughter's head.

"Because your mother's job is more important than your father's. What, aren't you happy to have your great-grandfather with you every day?"

Song Zhiyao immediately nodded.

"I'm happy, but I still want to see my mom every day."

Jiang Zhiyu pinched her daughter's little face.

"Then Mommy will come back to spend time with Yao Yao and Zheng Zheng whenever she has time, okay?"

"Okay, okay!"

She quietly leaned close to her daughter's ear and lowered her voice.

"Has Little Cloud been behaving well lately?"

Song Zhiyao nodded her head like a sleepyhead.

"Yes, yes, it's been very well-behaved lately."

Then she quietly asked her son.

"Aren't your little vines behaving very well?"

Song Zhizheng nodded seriously.

"Okay. Your primary task is to grow up healthy, and then, you need to manage the little things inside your bodies. Can you do that?"

The two little ones immediately slid off her lap and stood on the ground. One of them gave Jiang Zhiyu a military salute, puffing out her little chest.

"It can be done!"

I must say, it actually looks quite convincing.

Jiang Zhiyu stood up and returned their salute earnestly. A military salute is always given in any situation, even from children. It's not surprising that the children, living in a military compound, would do this.

...

After breakfast was served, Jiang Zhiyu ate a couple of bites quickly, then instructed the guards to take the two children to school, before heading straight to the central conference room.

Old Gao and Old Li were a little surprised. This girl usually only came when they called her; this was the first time she had come on her own initiative, and she clearly had barely contained her excitement. The two exchanged a glance, both assuming she had acquired some good equipment again, and they were also incredibly excited.

Jiang Zhiyu walked up and bowed to the two of them. Old Gao smiled and waved his hand, gesturing for her to sit down.

"Alright, alright, what's the good news? Tell me."

Jiang Zhiyu did not sit down at this moment.

"Mr. Gao, Mr. Li, find a completely sealed, top-secret meeting room. What I'm about to discuss is extremely important."

Upon hearing this, Elder Gao and Elder Li knew that things were not so simple. They immediately got up and led Jiang Zhiyu to a top-secret conference room. Elder Gao personally drew all the curtains closed, leaving only a few table lamps in the dimly lit room.

Seeing Jiang Zhiyu's serious demeanor, Old Gao also became very serious this time.

"Director Jiang, you can speak now. No more than five people can enter this conference room; you can rest assured."

At this point, Jiang Zhiyu didn't hold back anymore. She reached out and took out the box from her spatial storage, placed it on the table, and opened it.

The fine, silvery-gray lunar soil gleamed faintly under the lamp.

Old Gao and Old Li looked at the box with suspicion. It was just a box of soil. Why was Jiang Zhiyu taking it out so solemnly? Old Gao reached over, picked up a little soil, rubbed it between his fingers, and then looked at it under the light, but he didn't find anything unusual.

Both of them looked at Jiang Zhiyu with puzzled expressions.

Jiang Zhiyu spoke slowly and deliberately, very solemnly.

"This is lunar soil."

"What?"

Jiang Zhiyu repeated it again.

"This is lunar soil."

Old Gao paused in his rubbing of the soil, still thinking he had misheard.

Are you sure?

"I dug it myself, how could it be wrong?" Jiang Zhiyu said, then slapped her forehead. "I was so excited at the time, I should have taken some pictures to bring back for you."

Old Li belatedly realized what had happened and quickly shook the tuft of dirt he had just pinched off his fingers back into the box. Still feeling uneasy, he then scraped his fingers off the edge of the box.

"Girl, are you serious? How did you get there, and how did you get back?"

"You all know I can instantly travel to Xiao Rizi's place. After this upgrade, reaching the moon isn't impossible." Jiang Zhiyu paused, "Moreover, this time I personally stood on the lunar terminator and collected samples. Most importantly, this time I can build a spatial passage for ordinary people. However, the existence of this passage is subject to my personal control; only I can guide you through it."

Upon hearing this, Elder Gao and Elder Li seemed frozen in place, for so long that Jiang Zhiyu thought the scene would remain still forever.

A drop of sweat from Old Gao's forehead fell onto the table with a soft thud, as if breaking the stillness of the scene.

"What did you say?"

"Are you two hard of hearing today? Why do you have to make me repeat everything?" Jiang Zhiyu deliberately used a joking tone to downplay the shock on their faces. "You heard me right. I can build a tunnel to send our scientists there. But the tunnel's existence is under my control. As long as I'm here, the tunnel exists."

It took Old Li and Old Gao quite a while to process what had happened before they finally plopped back down in their chairs. Old Gao took out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from his brow.

"Wait, let me catch my breath."

Old Li slowly walked to the window, quietly parted a gap in the curtains, and the morning sunlight shone through the crack, illuminating the dim room. He suddenly turned around, stared at Jiang Zhiyu, and began to speak, point by point.

"The first thing is to send this sample for testing immediately, at the highest level. The second thing is to keep the number of people who know about this to a minimum; no one except for a few of us and the researchers directly involved must know."

He walked back to the table and looked at Jiang Zhiyu.

"We've obtained a shortcut that others dream of, but the more advantageous it is, the more cautious we must be. The passage is in your hands; we won't force you to take it. The nation will provide personnel, equipment, and resources, but we can't place the entire future on your shoulders. Our nation's aerospace research and development cannot stop for a moment."

Jiang Zhiyu nodded emphatically.

"That's what I think too. You can take shortcuts, but you also need to pave your own path; walking on two legs is the only way to stay stable."

Old Li's gaze fell on the box of lunar soil on the table. The silvery-gray soil lay quietly, gleaming with a faint, cold light in the lamplight.

He reached out and gently closed the lid of the box, pressed his palm on the lid, looked up and called out in a deep voice towards the door.

"Someone come here to send it for testing."
