A bizarre and terrifying experience; I messed up the dungeon world.
Chapter 688: Go buy him some new underwear.
Lin Qi nodded and sheathed the short sword.
A white light enveloped them. Their vision went completely blank.
They opened their eyes again. They were lying on an asphalt road.
The sunlight was blinding. The sky was blue. There were no red clouds. There was no giant eye.
Pedestrians were walking on the streets. Cars were honking. There were no monsters. The world had returned to its normal rhythm.
Lin Qi sat on the curb, looking at the 24-hour convenience store across the street.
Lu Chen lay down beside her, gazing at the blue sky.
"Go back and buy him a new pair of underwear," Lin Qi said.
Lu Chen didn't speak. He closed his eyes.
The wind blew. It rolled up the wrapping paper on the ground. Life had to go on. But this was just halftime. The evil god was still watching from above. Lin Qi touched the dog tag in her pocket. The metal edge was cold. She had to survive. And then kill everything on it. Chapter 56
The asphalt on the road was hot. It felt sticky under her shoes. Lin Qi stood up. Her boots touched the pavement. The sunlight was blinding. The sky was blue. There were no clouds. She squinted, looking at the convenience store across the street. Half of the sign was missing. The words "24 Hours" were still there. The door was glass. Half of it was shattered. Shards of glass lay on the steps, reflecting the light.
The sleeve of my left arm is burned away. The skin and flesh are charred. It's a black patch. The blood vessels are exposed. There's no more bleeding. The nerve endings are dead. There's no pain. My left hand fingers are unresponsive. I can't move them.
She needs anti-inflammatory medication. She needs bandages. She needs water.
She turned to look at Lu Chen. Lu Chen was still lying on the ground. The blood from his seven orifices had dried on his face, leaving reddish-brown scabs. His breathing was steady, his chest rising and falling rhythmically.
"Get up," Lin Qi said.
Lu Chen opened his eyes. He looked at the blue sky. He propped himself up with his hands and sat up. His clothes were covered in dust. He raised his hand to wipe his nose, leaving a red mark on the back of his hand.
The two people crossed the road. A wrecked car was stopped in the middle of the road. The door was open. There was a pool of black blood on the driver's seat. The blood had dried and turned dark brown. There was no body. All the car windows were shattered.
Lin Qi walked past the car and headed towards the convenience store. A few shards of glass hung from the glass door frame. She drew her dagger and knocked them off with the handle. The glass shattered on the floor with a crisp sound.
I went inside. The light dimmed. There was no electricity. The air smelled musty and bloody.
The checkout counter had fallen over. The cash register was smashed on the floor. The cord was broken. Three shelves had tipped over. Scattered were potato chips, biscuits, bottled water, and several bags of spicy strips lying in the aisle.
Lin Qi walked towards the employee corridor at the back. That was the warehouse. There was a higher chance of finding a first-aid kit there.
I walked to the employee entrance. The door was wooden. It was closed. There was a shadow beneath the crack in the door.
There are people inside.
Lin Qi stopped. His left hand hung down. His right hand gripped the short knife, blade facing down.
She took a step back. Her boots landed on the empty plastic bottle. Without making a sound.
"Open the door," Lin Qi said softly.
There was no movement inside. The shadow didn't move.
Lin Qi raised his leg and kicked the wooden door. The lock snapped, and sawdust flew out. The door slammed against the wall and bounced back. Lin Qi braced it with his foot.
There was a flashlight beam in the warehouse. It shone on Lin Qi's face. She turned her head away, avoiding the light.
"Don't move," a man's voice said.
Lin Qi's eyes adjusted to the light. He could see clearly inside. Four people: three men and one woman. They were dressed in ordinary casual clothes, which were covered in stains. They were holding steel pipes and fire axes.
The man in the middle was very tall. He had a buzz cut and was holding a pistol, the muzzle pointed at Lin Qi.
This man was named Li Qiang. He looked at Lin Qi, his gaze sweeping over her left arm—blackened, charred flesh. Then he looked at her face; it was covered in ash. Her features were beautiful. Finally, he noticed the short knife in her hand.
Li Qiang was thinking. A crippled woman. Holding a broken knife. Followed by a pale-faced young man with a bloodshot nose. These two weren't a threat. The short knife looked good. The metallic luster was bright. It was a good item. In this chaotic world, it could be exchanged for a lot of supplies.
"Get out of here," Li Qiang said. He pushed the pistol forward a little. His finger was on the trigger.
Lin Qi looked at the gun. "The safety isn't off."
Li Qiang paused for a moment, then looked down at his gun.
Lin Qi moved. She took a step forward. Her right hand flashed out with a short knife. The blade struck Li Qiang's wrist with great force. The pistol slipped from his hand and fell to the ground. Lin Qi flicked her toes, sending the pistol flying. Her left hand was immobilized. She caught the pistol with her right hand, her index finger on the trigger, her thumb on the safety. The muzzle was pressed against Li Qiang's forehead.
The whole process took less than two seconds.
The other three didn't react in time. The fat man with the fire axe raised the axe.
Lin Qi fired. The bullet struck the concrete ground beneath the fat man's feet. Concrete fragments flew everywhere. It hit the fat man's calf. The fat man stopped. The axe hung in mid-air. His hand trembled.
"Put it down," Lin Qi said.
The fat man let go. The fire axe fell to the ground with a dull thud.
Sweat beaded on Li Qiang's forehead, trickling down his nose. "Misunderstanding. We were just hiding from the monsters. We took this spot first."
Lin Qi sheathed his gun and tucked it into his belt. He twirled the short knife in his hand, then gripped it in reverse.
"Find the first-aid kit," Lin Qi said to Lu Chen.
Lu Chen walked in. He walked past Li Qiang. He went to the metal cabinet in the corner of the warehouse. He opened the drawer. He rummaged through it.
There was an employee roster, a ballpoint pen, and a few coins in the drawer.
Lu Chen pulled open the bottom drawer. "There's gauze, alcohol, and antibiotics. But no sutures," Lu Chen said. He took the items out and placed them on a folding table.
Lin Qi walked over, her back to Li Qiang. Li Qiang looked at her back. Her waist was slender. Her legs were long. But the knife was stuck in her lower back. The pistol was also there. He dared not move.
"Clothes," Lin Qi said. Her combat uniform was burned beyond recognition. Strips of cloth hung from her body, exposing her abdomen and back. Fabric clung to her wounds.
Lu Chen turned around and looked at the cardboard box next to him. Inside were convenience store employee uniforms. He took out a red short-sleeved shirt and handed it over.
Lin Qi placed the short knife on the table. With one hand, she unbuttoned her combat uniform. Several buttons melted and became stuck in the fabric. She simply ripped it open. The combat uniform fell to the ground.
She was only wearing a black sports bra on her upper body. There was a long, bloody gash on her back, the skin and flesh torn open. The charred remains on her left arm extended all the way to her shoulder. Her collarbone was covered in ash.
Li Qiang and the other two men watched. Their gazes lingered on her, their eyes following her movements until they finally settled on her waistline.
Lu Chen stood next to Lin Qi, blocking their view. He picked up the short knife on the table, the tip pointing at Li Qiang.
Li Qiang turned his head to look at the wall.
Lu Chen unscrewed the alcohol bottle. There were no cotton swabs. He poured the alcohol directly onto Lin Qi's left arm and back.
The liquid washed over the charred flesh, making a faint sound.
Lin Qi remained silent. His fingers gripped the edge of the table, his knuckles turning white. His breathing became heavy, his chest heaving rapidly.
Her muscles twitched under the influence of alcohol. She bit her lower lip. She didn't make a sound.
Lu Chen unwrapped the gauze. He wrapped it around her left shoulder and arm, round and round, tightening it and tying a knot. The gauze was quickly stained red with blood.
"Put it on." Lu Chen handed over the employee shirt.
Lin Qi slipped the shirt in with one hand. The buttons were in the front. His left hand couldn't move. He used his right hand to button it, very slowly. He buttoned it up to his chest. Then he couldn't button it anymore. The shirt was too small. The fabric was too tight.
