She gave up. Her neckline was open. The hem was tucked into her tactical trousers. The belt was fastened.

She picked up the dagger from the table, sheathed it, turned, and looked at Li Qiang.

"What's the situation outside?" Lin Qi asked.

Li Qiang glanced at her neckline and swallowed hard. "I don't know. The system's gone. The control panel won't open. The monsters haven't disappeared. The streets outside are full of mutated dogs."

Lin Qi's goal is to find the evil god. The system is gone. This means the data panel will no longer provide guidance. A physical information entry point is needed. The TV tower is one option, but confirmation is required.

"Find the computer," Lin Qi said to Lu Chen.

Lu Chen walked out of the warehouse and went to the hall.

Lin Qi walked out. Li Qiang and the other three followed behind. They dared not stay in the warehouse. Lin Qi had a gun. It would be safer to stay with her.

In the lobby, Lu Chen squatted in front of the collapsed cash register. He lifted the monitor of the cash register. The cable was broken. He took a data cable from his pocket, plugged one end into his terminal interface, and the other end into the cash register's motherboard.

The screen lit up. Blue background with white text. All gibberish. Lu Chen's fingers tapped in the air. The keyboard mapping activated.

Lin Qi walked to the shelf, picked up a bottle of mineral water, unscrewed it, and tilted her head back to drink. The water dripped down her chin and down her neck. She then grabbed a bag of bread, tore open the packaging, and took a bite. It was dry and tasteless. She chewed and swallowed.

Li Qiang walked up to Lin Qi, keeping a meter's distance.

"Hey beautiful, where did you get that gun? We found it at the police station. It only has a few bullets left." Li Qiang tried to get closer to her. He wanted to probe her background.

Lin Qi ignored him and looked at Lu Chen.

Sounds came from outside the door. The sound of claws stepping on asphalt. The nails were hard. They were scraping against the pavement. The frequency was fast. There were quite a few of them.

Lin Qi turned her head and looked out through the glass door.

Three mutated dogs. They are the size of cows. Their fur is gone. Their muscles are exposed. Their jaws are split in two. They are covered in sharp teeth. Saliva drips onto the ground. White smoke rises from them.

They stopped outside the door. They smelled blood. They looked inside the convenience store.

Li Qiang was so startled that he backed away, bumping into the shelf. Cookies fell all over the floor. The packaging bag tore. Cookie crumbs were crushed.

"Dog. Mutant dog. Shoot!" Li Qiang shouted, his voice trembling.

Lin Qi didn't draw his gun. A pistol would be too loud and attract more monsters.

She drew her dagger and walked towards the door. Her steps were steady.

A mutated dog rushed in, smashing through the remaining glass door frame. Shards of glass pierced its body. It didn't react. It opened its two halves of its jaw and bit at Lin Qi's neck. A foul stench filled the air.

Lin Qi turned to the side. His left arm remained still. He held the knife in his right hand. From bottom to top, the blade sliced through the mutated dog's chin, cutting its throat and severing its cervical vertebrae. He twisted his wrist and pulled the knife out.

The mutant dog's body lunged forward due to inertia. It crashed onto the shelf. Blood splattered onto the potato chip bag. The shelf collapsed.

The second one charged. Lin Qi ducked. He slid forward. The tip of his knife sliced a half-meter-long gash in the mutated dog's abdomen. Its intestines spilled out. The mutated dog collapsed to the ground, struggling and whimpering.

The third one stopped at the doorway, staring at its companion's corpse. It growled softly. It didn't rush inside. Instead, it turned and ran. It ran very fast, disappearing at the end of the street.

Lin Qi straightened up. He shook the blood off his sword and sheathed it.

Li Qiang was stunned. He thought Lin Qi was crippled and was counting on her to shoot. Instead, she used a knife with one hand and dispatched two monsters in seconds. Those were high-level mutated dogs that none of them, a dozen or so men, dared to provoke.

Li Qiang pondered. This woman was ridiculously strong. Her knife was top-notch too. Her left hand was useless; she must be exhausted. If he could steal the knife while she slept, he'd have an advantage in this chaotic world.

Lin Qi walked to the cashier and looked at the screen. "How was it?"

"This is a sandbox." Lu Chen's hands moved incredibly fast. Without a physical keyboard, he used a terminal-mapped virtual keyboard to input code. The garbled text on the screen began to reassemble, transforming into a map model. "The physics rules have been rewritten. There are invisible walls at the city's boundaries. We can't get out."

"Where is the evil god?"

"The signal source is in the city center. The TV tower," Lu Chen pointed to the flashing red dot on the screen. "There's a high-dimensional data access point there."

Lin Qi nodded. He turned and glanced outside. "It's getting dark."

The sky turned a dark gray. The sun was obscured by clouds. There were no streetlights on the streets.

"I'll stay here tonight. We'll go to the TV tower tomorrow," Lin Qi decided.

She walked to a corner, sat down against the wall, closed her eyes, and conserved her energy. Her right hand rested on the handle of the gun at her waist.

Lu Chen sat down next to her. He continued typing on the keyboard, retrieving data.

Li Qiang and his three companions huddled together on the other side, leaning against the freezer, whispering amongst themselves. The fat man grabbed a few bags of snacks and started eating, making loud chewing noises.

Lin Qi opened her eyes and glanced at the fat man. The fat man stopped chewing and put the snack bag on the ground.

It was late at night. The convenience store was quiet. The only sound was the faint tapping of Lu Chen's keyboard.

There was no light in the convenience store. Moonlight shone through the broken glass, casting long shadows on the aisles.

Li Qiang wasn't asleep. He stared at Lin Qi. Lin Qi leaned against the wall, his breathing steady. The gauze on his left arm was dark reddish-brown. A pistol was tucked into his lower back. A short knife was at his side.

Li Qiang nudged the fat man next to him. The fat man woke up and rubbed his eyes. Li Qiang pointed to the gun at Lin Qi's waist, then to the short knife, and made a throat-slitting gesture.

The fat man shook his head. He dared not.

Li Qiang's eyes widened. He pulled a switchblade from his waist. The blade sprang out. He stood up, tiptoeing, and walked towards Lin Qi.

They were still two meters away from Lin Qi.

Lu Chen stopped typing and turned to look at Li Qiang.

Li Qiang stopped. He pointed the knife at Lu Chen and mouthed: Shut up.

Lu Chen remained silent. He looked away from the screen.

Li Qiang continued walking. He walked up to Lin Qi, squatted down, and reached for the gun at Lin Qi's waistband.

His hand had just touched the gun handle when Lin Qi opened his eyes.

Lin Qi didn't move. He grabbed Li Qiang's wrist with his right hand and twisted it downwards. The sound of bones breaking rang out.

Li Qiang opened his mouth to shout. Lin Qi's left knee bent. His knee pressed against Li Qiang's chin. His jaw dislocated. The sound of his shout got stuck in his throat.

Lin Qi stood up smoothly. The short knife in his right hand was already drawn. The blade was pressed against Li Qiang's neck, cutting through the skin. Blood flowed out.

The entire process was seamless. The fat man sat on the ground, completely dumbfounded. A man and a woman huddled in a corner, trembling.

"What do you want to do?" Lin Qi asked. His voice was flat, without any inflection.

Li Qiang was in so much pain that his face was covered in sweat. His jaw was dislocated, and he couldn't speak. He could only make whimpering sounds. His eyes were filled with terror.

Lin Qi's knife moved forward one millimeter. The blood flowed even faster.

Li Qiang begged for mercy, his words slurred and unclear. He knelt on the ground.

Lin Qi felt bored. People like him wouldn't last long in this environment. Killing him was a waste of energy.

She sheathed her knife. Then, she kicked Li Qiang in the chest. Li Qiang slammed onto a shelf two meters away. The shelf collapsed, crushing him beneath it.

"Get lost," Lin Qi said.

Li Qiang pushed open the shelf, got up, his wrist hanging limply, and ran towards the door. The fat man and the man and woman followed. They ran into the darkness. Their footsteps quickly disappeared.

The convenience store has quieted down again.

Lin Qi leaned back against the wall and put the gun back in its place.
