Reborn in 2006, I met Mr. Zhou from the past.

Chapter 52 If only life were as beautiful as our first meeting

Half an hour later, Su Fengnan suddenly woke up from her dream, her mind overflowing with inspiration. Without thinking too much, she quickly grabbed a pen and paper and began writing furiously in her notebook, recording the outline and plot of her second novel.

The first book received a good response online, and Su Fengnan knew that this was partly due to the early, unregulated growth of online literature. If it were in the more mature online literature environment of her previous life, she might not have achieved such good results if she had just finished writing and published it.

For her second book, she planned to write a historical romance, and she wrote down the title: "Rebirth: If Life Were Only As We First Met." It was her first time attempting a historical romance with political intrigue, and she felt both apprehensive and subtly excited. In her previous life, she had listened to hundreds, if not thousands, of audiobooks and read hundreds, of historical romance novels online. She had dabbled in both wildly popular classics and lesser-known gems, some of which had even dominated prime-time television dramas for years.

Now reborn, she has different ancient romance stories about power struggles brewing in her mind, hoping to share them with more readers.

The story's protagonist is a beautiful assassin from a family of martial arts masters who, due to an unexpected mission, is reborn into the body of a noblewoman from an ancient family. Because of family feuds, she is forced into a vortex of martial arts conflicts and court intrigue. Through her trials and tribulations, the heroine develops feelings for the time-traveling hero—the heir of the Duke of Dingguo. Ultimately, the two join hands to resolve family and national grievances and create a glorious future together.

Su Fengnan found herself unable to stop writing; her inspiration seemed inexhaustible. However, this book involved a great deal of ancient laws and regulations, requiring her to consult numerous sources. She left blank spaces in her notebook, planning to visit the local library sometime to fill in the details.

Just as I finished writing, I heard my mother's voice from downstairs: "Xiaonan, Xiaoxia, we're back!"

"Oh~ We'll be right down!" Su Fengxia responded from next door.

When the two sisters came downstairs after changing their clothes, their parents had already washed the sweat from their faces and only needed to change a few more clothes before heading out. While their parents were changing, Su Fengnan found a bamboo winnowing basket used for cooking and carefully placed the wrapped wontons inside, then covered them with a layer of gauze to keep them from getting dusty. She specifically told Su Fengxia not to forget to take it with her when she left, before confidently picking up her small handbag and waiting to the side.

Soon after, the parents finished getting ready, the four of them locked the door, and officially set off for the uncle's house.

Last night, Su Guoyuan promised to take his eldest daughter to get acupuncture. Su Fengnan was already sitting securely on the back of his bicycle. Before leaving, she turned back to remind her, "Xiaoxia, hold the dustpan tight, don't spill it."

"Okay, I know," Su Fengxia replied, and jumped onto the back of her mother's bicycle.

Su Fengnan reached out and grabbed her father's clothes. Su Guoyuan stepped onto the pedal and pushed off, and the bicycle started moving smoothly. The father and daughter rode off first. Wen Xiaofen watched them ride away before taking Su Fengxia and riding towards her younger brother Wen Xiaozhou's house.

The twenty-minute journey passed quickly, and the father and daughter soon arrived at the old Chinese medicine doctor's residence.

This was an old, rustic courtyard. Several unknown herbs were drying in the yard, and a faint medicinal fragrance filled the air. Su Fengnan didn't dare to look around and obediently followed Su Guoyuan into the acupuncture room. Inside, three or four patients were receiving acupuncture, and the room was quiet.

Upon seeing someone enter, a middle-aged female doctor in a white coat greeted him gently. Su Guoyuan lay down on the single hospital bed with practiced ease, and the female doctor quickly and skillfully inserted the prepared silver needles into his various acupoints.

Seeing her father resting with his eyes closed after receiving acupuncture, Su Fengnan tiptoed to the medicine cabinet, found the middle-aged female doctor, and inquired in detail about her father's condition. Upon learning that his condition had stabilized and was slowly improving, Su Fengnan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The female doctor, seeing that Su Fengnan spoke fluent Mandarin and asked particularly detailed questions, couldn't help but feel more favorably disposed towards her. She always treated children who cared so much about their parents with gentleness, so she offered a few more words of advice.

"The medication he was taking before wasn't right for him and caused some damage to his body. Now he needs proper care. If possible, it's best for him to stay home and rest slowly, and not rush back to work."

"Okay, I understand, thank you, doctor." The doctor's advice coincided with Su Fengnan's thoughts, and she really didn't want her father to be so overworked.

"Thank me, that's not necessary. It's my job. Your father should be grateful that he met my master. She can definitely cure this disease. Otherwise, his body would have been ruined by the previous quack doctor."

As the middle-aged female doctor spoke, she glanced at the elderly man sitting to the side, wearing glasses and reading a book. With no patients to disturb her, she was quite at ease.

Su Fengnan followed the doctor's gaze and was somewhat surprised. She hadn't expected that the old woman reading the book was the ninety-year-old traditional Chinese medicine doctor her father had mentioned. Her father's illness in her previous life must have been cured by this old gentleman.

On the way here, Su Guoyuan mentioned that this old gentleman never holds clinics in public; patients come by word of mouth, and he only treats difficult and complicated cases.

Turning her gaze away, Su Fengnan pursed her lips and gave a grateful smile: "Yes, I'm really glad we met the old gentleman. His prescription was truly effective; after a few doses of the herbal medicine, my father has definitely been getting better slowly."

"That's for sure. It's normal to see improvement after daily acupuncture and herbal medicine treatments. However, you won't need to come for acupuncture again for now. Come back for a follow-up appointment in two weeks."

"Okay, thank you, doctor."

After thanking her father, Su Fengnan sat quietly beside him.

......

Wen Xiaozhou was busy in the kitchen, the oil sizzling and the aroma of fried small fish wafting out, while Wen Xiaofen deftly assisted him. In the living room, Su Fengxia and her aunt Jian Qun were watching TV with their child, Yu Yu.

Just then, a stylishly dressed woman carrying a large bag of fruit pushed open the door and entered. Before she could even stand still, she smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, am I late?"

Jian Qun looked up and saw that it was Wen Xiaojing. She quickly stood up to greet her, "Sister Xiaomeng is here! Come on, come sit here." (Xiaomeng is Wen Xiaojing's nickname, and that's what her family calls her.)

Su Fengxia was stunned by her aunt's outfit—a white lace camisole, denim shorts, and five- or six-centimeter-high sandals. Her aunt was already strikingly beautiful, and with such a daring and revealing outfit, Su Fengxia couldn't imagine how many stares she would attract along the way. Therefore, her greeting was unconsciously a few decibels lower: "Hello, Auntie."

"Xiaoxia, you've grown so tall! You're getting prettier and prettier!" Wen Xiaojing casually placed the fruit on the coffee table, then sat down on a small stool next to the TV. She glanced around the room. "Where's your sister? I don't see her."

"She and my dad will arrive a little later."

"Alright, come on, have some fruit first." Wen Xiaojing said, picking a mangosteen from the bag and tossing it to Su Fengxia.

"Thank you, Auntie." Su Fengxia caught it steadily, smiled, and began to peel the shell.
