Marvel: Saint Seiya Starting with the Reality Stone
52. Another Christmas has arrived!
"Mike, I'm curious, do you still care about this family?"
"What's wrong?"
Mike walked across the Arctic ice cap, heading towards his temporary lodging, while talking on his phone with Heidi in New York City.
Don't ask him why his phone still had a signal and could make calls normally in the Arctic depths where it was said to be -58 degrees Celsius, invisible to satellites and inaccessible to humans.
Because it's a stupid question.
With his own inner universe perfectly integrated with the Reality Stone, Mike can make phone calls not only here, but even if he goes to the moon or into space, he still won't miss a single call if he wants to.
Heidi, who was at home in New York City, reacted with an exaggerated expression when she heard Mike ask what was wrong.
"Christmas is just around the corner, but I still haven't seen a Christmas tree by the fireplace, Mike. Christmas trees don't just grow on their own."
"Can't you go and buy one?"
"oh."
Heidi looked surprised upon hearing this, then, holding her phone in one hand and putting the other on her hip, said, "So you don't care about this family anymore."
Mike noticed that Heidi's tone had changed and stopped joking. He laughed twice and said, "Just kidding. I remember the date. I promise I'll be home before the 20th."
This was all planned in advance.
Because, just like Heidi said when she called.
Christmas is just around the corner.
Christmas Eve.
So far, the Amétra family has never been apart on Christmas Eve. Even last year, after her adoptive parents passed away, Heidi, who loved her job, would still put down her work and return to her home in New York City before Christmas Eve.
Then she and Mike would do what their adoptive parents did when they were still alive: drive across the river to Jersey City to pick out a beautiful Christmas tree and bring it home. Afterward, they would light a bonfire, listen to music, and decorate the Christmas tree together.
"Number 20?"
"Yes."
"Can't there be fewer? Will there still be nice Christmas trees back then?"
"rest assured."
Mike laughed and said, "Remember the farm we went to buy Christmas trees from last year? I called them a few days ago and paid a deposit. They've promised to reserve a beautiful Christmas tree for me."
Hearing Mike say that, Heidi visibly relaxed, then changed the subject: "So where are you now? At your Inuit friend's house, or on his boat?"
Mike bent down and went into the cave where he slept deep in the Arctic, lying through his teeth: "On the ship."
Even if someone were to locate his cell phone signal now, they would find that his cell phone signal is located on a fishing boat in Norway.
Hearing this, Heidi nodded, then asked curiously, "So, has your problem been solved, Mike?"
Mike put on a T-shirt and jacket, then turned and walked out of the cave: "It's resolved, but there are still some after-sales issues, so I'll need to stay here for a few more days."
He was referring to the Asgardian prisoners that Loki had sent to his vicinity almost every time he began his special training over the past two months. These prisoners believed that Odin, the king of the gods, had promised them that killing him would absolve them of their crimes.
It would be bad if these Asgardian prisoners continued to arrive after he returned to New York City.
He went back to celebrate Christmas, not Carnival.
and so--
If the prisoners from Asgard continue to appear in the next few days, then Mike will have to find a way to deal with this problem first.
For example, go back to New York City, go to that nursing home, find Odin who's just giving up, and tell him to go back to Asgard and die, instead of dying on Earth.
but!
For the rest of the days, Loki did not send any more Asgardian prisoners to his vicinity.
Could it be that Loki has already sent all the prisoners from Asgard down, and there are no more prisoners alive to be released?
Mike couldn't help but think to himself after the seven-colored beam of light didn't appear again.
But that's all I think about it.
After failing to see the rainbow beams the day before returning to New York City, Mike boarded an international airliner and flew back to New York City from Norway.
Mike originally planned to rest for a day after returning to New York City before preparing for Christmas.
But Heidi wouldn't allow it.
When Heidi picked him up at the airport, she immediately drove towards the farm where they had purchased Christmas supplies last year.
She breathed a sigh of relief when she watched Mike carry the Christmas tree from the back seat of the car back to the living room and place it next to the fireplace.
Heidi crossed her arms, admiring the Christmas tree in front of the fireplace, then looked at Mike standing beside her: "This Christmas tree looks a bit fatter than last year's?"
"You could help it lose weight."
Mike shrugged and answered, then looked at Heidi: "So, my dear sister, can I rest now? I just flew back from Norway and I'm still jet-lagged."
Heidi's gaze remained fixed on the Christmas tree, pondering how to decorate it this year, while replying to Mike, "Go ahead, I washed your sheets and blankets yesterday. After you wake up tomorrow, we'll go to the warehouse to buy other things."
Before Heidi could finish speaking, Mike had already turned and walked towards the stairs leading to the second floor.
However, the facts also proved one thing.
That is, if someone in a home is very enthusiastic about various festivals and loves to decorate for them, then that home will definitely be filled with the feeling of home.
Similarly, even if a family has few members, on a holiday, the festive atmosphere in that family will be no less than that in other families.
Previously, it was the foster mother, Mennie, who was in charge of all this in this family; now it is Heidi who is in charge.
Like her adoptive mother Mennie, Heidi also prepared a sumptuous feast on Christmas Day.
The roast turkey on the table was bright red.
The colors are vibrant and they look very appetizing.
But this is actually an illusion.
It tastes very dry and tough.
Regardless of Heidi's cooking skills—in fact, Heidi is a very good cook—there must be a reason why no one in this mysterious Eastern country likes to eat turkey.
After quickly clearing the snow from outside the house, Mike returned inside and his eyes lit up when he saw the delicious food on the table: "Didn't we agree last Christmas that we wouldn't make so much for Christmas anymore? The two of us can't finish it."
After Heidi brought the last salad to the table, she looked at Mike.
"I have thought about it."
"Then?"
"I've decided to make this much anyway. If you can't finish it, you can find a girlfriend to help you when you go home next year."
